Lydia Hughes created a front cover for her magazine in Photoshop. She began by opening a new document and setting the page size to A4. She then dragged her chosen photo onto the document. After resizing the photo to fit the page, she converted it to black and white. Using layers, she revealed color in select areas like lips and a vinyl record. She added elements like a masthead reading "Vinyl Revival" in a slanted, italic script font and a headline wrapped around the vinyl reading "The Lia Beats...". She included the issue number and price to complete the cover design. While simple compared to most music magazines, she felt this unconventional design would intrigue readers to explore the magazine

The photographer took a close-up shot of the model wearing fashionable clothes in front of an abandoned building to establish the genre of a fashion spread for a teenage lifestyle magazine. The image fulfills the intentions of showing the model's relaxed pose and street style clothes to appeal to the target teenage audience. The location, pose, and clothing were chosen to represent the magazine's theme in a way that would attract and relate to readers.
The document discusses the intentions, fulfillment of intentions, appropriateness, meaning created, and effectiveness of four different magazine cover designs. For each cover design, the photographer discusses establishing the genre through props, the model's expression and positioning, and how the final image meets their goals. They also explain how each cover relates to and would appeal to the teenage target audience.
The document discusses a photograph being considered for a fashion spread in a teen magazine. It notes that the photograph is a good option because it allows the model's clothing to be clearly seen by the target audience. It also fits with the urban theme of the fashion spreads. A close-up shot is used rather than a long shot, focusing specifically on the model, who will attract the target teen audience as a peer. The main disadvantage considered is the long shot angle, but otherwise the photo meets the needs for the final fashion spread.
This document discusses the pros and cons of a photograph to use for a fashion spread in a teen magazine. Positives include that the model's clothing is clearly visible, he appeals to the target teenage audience, and there is space to include costume information. However, negatives are the shadows on the model and behind him, and that the model's position may not attract viewers. On balance, the photographer feels there is enough room to include details, and the low camera angle makes the model the focal point, outweighing the single disadvantage of shadows.
This photograph is being considered for a fashion spread. Positives include that the model and clothing are clearly visible and the graffiti theme matches the intended street style theme. A low angle shot makes the model look impactful. However, the one disadvantage is that a close-up was used, so there is not enough space to include the required captions.

CAKE: Sharing Slices of Confidential Data on BlockchainClaudio Di Ciccio
Presented at the CAiSE 2024 Forum, Intelligent Information Systems, June 6th, Limassol, Cyprus.
Synopsis: Cooperative information systems typically involve various entities in a collaborative process within a distributed environment. Blockchain technology offers a mechanism for automating such processes, even when only partial trust exists among participants. The data stored on the blockchain is replicated across all nodes in the network, ensuring accessibility to all participants. While this aspect facilitates traceability, integrity, and persistence, it poses challenges for adopting public blockchains in enterprise settings due to confidentiality issues. In this paper, we present a software tool named Control Access via Key Encryption (CAKE), designed to ensure data confidentiality in scenarios involving public blockchains. After outlining its core components and functionalities, we showcase the application of CAKE in the context of a real-world cyber-security project within the logistics domain.

HCL Notes and Domino License Cost Reduction in the World of DLAUpanagenda
Webinar Recording: https://www.panagenda.com/webinars/hcl-notes-and-domino-license-cost-reduction-in-the-world-of-dlau/
The introduction of DLAU and the CCB & CCX licensing model caused quite a stir in the HCL community. As a Notes and Domino customer, you may have faced challenges with unexpected user counts and license costs. You probably have questions on how this new licensing approach works and how to benefit from it. Most importantly, you likely have budget constraints and want to save money where possible. Don’t worry, we can help with all of this!
We’ll show you how to fix common misconfigurations that cause higher-than-expected user counts, and how to identify accounts which you can deactivate to save money. There are also frequent patterns that can cause unnecessary cost, like using a person document instead of a mail-in for shared mailboxes. We’ll provide examples and solutions for those as well. And naturally we’ll explain the new licensing model.
Join HCL Ambassador Marc Thomas in this webinar with a special guest appearance from Franz Walder. It will give you the tools and know-how to stay on top of what is going on with Domino licensing. You will be able lower your cost through an optimized configuration and keep it low going forward.
These topics will be covered
- Reducing license cost by finding and fixing misconfigurations and superfluous accounts
- How do CCB and CCX licenses really work?
- Understanding the DLAU tool and how to best utilize it
- Tips for common problem areas, like team mailboxes, functional/test users, etc
- Practical examples and best practices to implement right away
