We wanted to do some research into documentary music and music used in
some films. We looked at several different documentaries to get some of our
initial ideas. The documentaries we looked at were Panorama, Crime Watch
and Myth busters. All of these are very iconic. However we didn’t just look a
documentaries, we also looked at some short films. Particularly we look at a
production company called Newman Films, they look at how to create a song
for a clip and have many online tutorials. They look at music in more of a
media perspective and want the music to connote certain things which is wha
we want to do with ours. This gave some initial ideas but and as we looked
for more example we came across a piece by the composer Hans Zimmer and
we agreed that we like the style and wanted to create something like this
instead of using Royalty free music that we could just find on the internet. We
want to create and with some help compose the music for our documentary,
because we feel that we would have more control over how it sounds and w
would be able to connote certain things.

3. What we did!
We asked a student doing A2 music to help us with our project. Her name is Alex
Beason and she has initially agreed to help us, but has said that she may not hav
time to do as big a piece as we want and so she might just do the opening titles o
something like that. She suggested that we should go and ask the Head of Music
Mr McCall for help with it also. We will ask him and then update the blog.
