This document proposes an imaging technique that models targets as a superposition of infinitesimally small dipoles rather than point scatterers. It describes how the orientation of each dipole is represented by a dyadic contrast function and how this allows determining the orientation of dipoles, providing additional target information. Experimental results are shown for improving electromagnetic interference rejection using a distributed aperture MIMO radar configuration and for achieving improved resolution through coherent fusion imaging across distributed apertures.
