The survey found that consumers' choice of venue for grocery shopping changed significantly between 1985 and 2010. Supermarkets became the most popular choice, increasing from just over 4% in 1985 to 60% in 2010. Meanwhile, grocery stores and wet markets declined substantially over this period, with grocery stores falling from around 50% to 10% and wet markets dropping from around 50% to 14%. Night markets maintained around 11% preference over the 25 years. Supermarkets were the top choice in 2010 due to offering big discounts.
