Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a disease of the central nervous system that results in scarring and damage to the myelin sheath surrounding nerve fibers. It most commonly appears in early adulthood and symptoms can include fatigue, numbness, vision problems, and impaired motor function. While the exact cause is unknown, it is thought to involve genetic and environmental factors triggering an autoimmune response. There is no cure for MS, but treatments aim to reduce frequency of flare-ups and slow progression by modifying the immune system.
