Automatic Room Lighting System using
MICROCONTROLER

PROBLEM STATEMENT:
 Electricity is one of the most important resources in this country ,
the electricity must be conserved , but many time people come
outside the room/ hall forgetting to turn off the light /fan , thus
the electricity is wasted.
 The concept behind this project is to cut power supply when there
is no one in the room , thus reducing energy consumption
AIMS:
This project aims at:
 limiting power waste in schools, colleges, offices and conference
hall.
 Making a controller which can sense if any person enters the
room and lights up automatically.
COMPOENTS REQUIRED:
• 8051 microcontroller
• Development board
• 2 x IR sensors
• 16x2 LCD display
• 5V relay module
• Lamp/light
• Connecting wires
• Power supply

SCOPE:
The project will be useful in schools, colleges, offices and

LIMITATIONS:
• Because it uses electricity , it will not work when there is power
outage.
