2. Positioning and
central image
The central image is a younger
looking women positioned in the
central of the poster towards the
back, highlighting her hands and
some form of gardening tool
which are placed at the front of
the poster, creating suspense and
curiosity as to what she is going
to use them for.
Lighting and colouring
The lighting is rather dark,
however, is bright when it comes
to the girls hand and the
gardening tool, creating the feel
of significance.
Facial expression and
body language
Although not much of her body is
visible, the parts that are seen
seem particularly tense. Her
facial expression is somewhat
simplistic yet very effective giving
and angry and unnerving feel.
Font
The font use on this poster is
basic, there isn’t much so as not
to distract viewers from the main
focus. The font uses simply red
and white colouring so that it
contrasts and stands out from the
background
Overall effectiveness
Overall this poster shows some
form of sophistication through it’s
simplicity.

Font
Overall
effectiveness
The image is of a young girl placed at
the top of the page with hardly any of
the face showing, this helps create
suspense as viewers will be
questioning themselves about ‘ who
is she?’ and ‘ what does she have to
do with the movie?’.
There isn’t really much lighting, apart
the mystery girls face, highlighting her
as a character and giving a feel of
importance.
Due to the darkened nature of this
poster you can’t see a proper facial
expressive, creating mystery, as you
can’t tell whether she is screaming
help as an innocent or being a
murderer screaming as she kills.
The font is very basic apart form the
word ‘mirrors’ which has cleverly
been adapted so that the two R’s are
reflecting off of each other. This gives
the effect of a mirror being placed on
the first R therefore creating the
second one.
The overall effect given by this poster
is that of a professional horror
creating fear and obscurity.

Overall
effectiveness
The central image covers the whole of this
poster, however, the only character that is
seen is the main focus. This is seen by the
way they are placed in the centre of the
page and are the only person visible .
The lighting in this poster is extremely dark,
however, just behind the main character it is
bright and you see some of the setting, this
highlights the person as well as familiarising
the audience with the characters
surroundings.
There isn’t any facial expression, this is due
to the person wearing a hockey mask, hiding
their identity. Their body language is rather
tense and very aggressive.
The font used is very simplistic with an easy
colour scheme of red and white. However,
there is quite a lot. Most of the text is in
white, these bits do not stand out
tremendously, so attention isn’t drawn away
from the main picture, although some of
the text is red, it is these parts that are
meant to stand out a lot more as they have
important information, such as, the movie
name and it’s release date.
Shows a high quality of professionalism with
important information and characters made
to stand out, and key element, such as, the
machete are highlighted.
