1. What is meant by “MOOC”
 A course of study available over the internet without charge to a very large
number of people.
 A MOOC may be patterned on a college or university course or may be less
structured. Although MOOCs do not always offer academic credits, they
provide eduction that may enable certification, employment or further
studies

4. History of MOOCs CONT.
• Their intention was to exploit the possibility for interactions between
a wide variety of participants made possible by online tools so as to
provide a richer learning environment than traditional tools would
allow. 25 students attended the course on the campus of the
University of Manitoba, and a further 2300 from around the world
participated online. MOOCs with an emphasis on interactions and
connectivity are now called cMOOCS.

5. field of interest :Learning technologies
• Technology allows the tables to be turned. Instead of teaching (push),
students can be given projects that require them to learn (pull) the
necessary material themselves. Key to this is the ability to get the
information they need any time anywhere, without being in the
physical presence of a teacher. This project-based pull approach
makes learning far more interesting for the student
