The place of citizenship in the scottish computing curriculummclaughlinkt
Abstract
For the last 25 years computing has been a significant element of the wider curriculum in Scottish schools. Through numerous iterations of the curriculum and changes in the purpose and nomenclature of the subject, there has been a consistent emphasis on the importance of what academics would class as citizenship education. This presentation will explore the rational for including citizenship topics within the curriculum and the continued justification for maintaining its presence. It will also explore the blurring of the lines between the subjects of Computing and ICT; the relative importance of one over the other and the danger these pose in relation to the importance and relevance of citizenship education in the wider curriculum.
International Journal of Computer Science and Programming Language
is concerned with the recent advancement in the field of computer science and programming language. Programming environments, development tools, visualization and animation, management of the development process, human factors in software are a few topics that are included under the scope of the journal.
Design of an IT Capstone Subject - Cloud RoboticsITIIIndustries
This paper describes the curriculum of the three year IT undergraduate program at La Trobe University, and the faculty requirements in designing a capstone subject, followed by the ACM’s recommended IT curriculum covering the five pillars of the IT discipline. Cloud robotics, a broad multidisciplinary research area, requiring expertise in all five pillars with mechatronics, is an ideal candidate to offer capstone experiences to IT students. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a long term master project in developing a cloud robotics testbed, with many capstone sub-projects spanning across the five IT pillars, to meet the objectives of capstone experience. This paper also describes the design and implementation of the testbed, and proposes potential capstone projects for students with different interests.
This paper examines the digital skill level of refugee migrants in Germany while pursuing a job, a training position, or following an educational path on the Internet. For that, we conducted a lab experiment designing tasks with varying difficulty to position the digital competencies of refugee migrants on the digital skill scale. Problems with operational and formal skills were observed whereas fact-based information seeking was often successfully completed. The most complex tasks could not be completed by any participant. The study contributes to a better understanding of the varying degrees of digital skills of refugee migrants. Results can be used to design targeted courses and curricula that address digital deficits. Further training in this area will enable refugee migrants to benefit from the many opportunities that arise through the Internet and its services, improving their chances for labor market integration.

Notes:
1. Any submitted documents that cannot be opened will not be graded and receive a zero.
2. Do your own work. You may work together, but you answers should not be the same. Answers considered to be the same will be graded as a zero.
3. Start each new question on a separate page.
1. A number of states have established stabilization funds that are paid into in years when the state’s economy is strong and drawn from when the state’s economy is in recession. This means that state taxes are greater than spending in good economic years and less than spending in bad years. How can these contingency funds stabilize a state’s economy? (4 points)
2. Consider the process of earmarking. Explain what it is. Explain how it can lead to inefficient levels of expenditures by the state or local governments. Explain how it can lead to more efficient levels of expenditures by the state or local governments. Use examples for each. (4 points)
3. Many state and local governments are experiencing a pension crisis. What is the source of this crisis? Last year the stock market had a strong increase and is up again so far this year. What effect, if any, does this have on the pension crisis? (4 points)
4. “If one city spends more on police protection per capita than does another, one expects less crime in the first city than the second.” True, false, or uncertain? Explain your answer. (4 points)
5. Explain the Baumol hypothesis about the effects of unbalanced growth. Support your answer with diagrams. (4 points)

Technology and education
The advent of technology has been accompanied by a number of revolutions which cover all sectors of life such as health, manufacturing, and service industry. One of the affected areas in these categories is the education sector. There are a number of technologies that have been introduced in the education sector which include flipped classrooms, celly, Chromebooks, and paper tab among many others. The young generation which is the newest generation also known as the k-12 has shown tremendous and active uptake when it comes to technology use in education and various aspects of life.
According to Green and Hannon (2007), the youthful generation has made technology a normal part of their lives. For instance, many students all over the world are utilizing new media technologies to come up with new things, new ways of communicating with people and this have led to the development of weird kind thinking and operation among the students. Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
Synthetic Fiber Construction in lab .pptxPavel ( NSTU)
Synthetic fiber production is a fascinating and complex field that blends chemistry, engineering, and environmental science. By understanding these aspects, students can gain a comprehensive view of synthetic fiber production, its impact on society and the environment, and the potential for future innovations. Synthetic fibers play a crucial role in modern society, impacting various aspects of daily life, industry, and the environment. ynthetic fibers are integral to modern life, offering a range of benefits from cost-effectiveness and versatility to innovative applications and performance characteristics. While they pose environmental challenges, ongoing research and development aim to create more sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives. Understanding the importance of synthetic fibers helps in appreciating their role in the economy, industry, and daily life, while also emphasizing the need for sustainable practices and innovation.

This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.
We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.
