INTRODUCTION
 Modified release drug product are those that
alter the timing and/or the rate of release of drug
substance.
ADVANTAGES
 Reduction in drug blood level fluctuation
 Frequency reduction in dosing
 Patient compliance
 Reduced adverse side effect

 Releases a discrete portion of drug at a time
other than promptly after administration.e.g -
enterric coated dosage forms like enterric coated
aspirin,other NSAIDS, etc.
EXTENDED RELEASE DRUG
PRODUCTS
 Two fold release indosage frequency,examples
include controlled release, sustained release and
long acting drug products.
ORALLY DISINTEGRATING TABLETS
 Disintegrate rapidly in saliva after oral
administration.
 Can be used without addition of water.
 Drug dispersed in saliva and swallowed.
