This document provides an overview of the COMM 106: Multimedia Journalism course. It defines multimedia journalism as journalism that uses multiple media forms, including audio, video, text, images, and interactivity. The basics of journalism are to investigate and inform audiences accurately and fairly. Traditional media like print, radio, television and newer digital/mobile media are all considered mass media types. Multimedia journalism combines these different media forms into integrated online news stories. Examples of common media types used are print, video, audio, and interactivity. Students are asked to find an example of multimedia journalism online and post it to the class blog with a summary and identification of what media types are present.
