20. Since talent and ability are fixed…. why bother with effort? It won’t change anything. In fact, having to work hard casts doubt on your ability.

The idea of trying and failing is terrifying. Student avoids challenges, gets defensive and gives up easily.
Do you ever find this in student writing? Is it a fear of improper grammar or poor ideas. When we write we dedicate a certain amount of time for writing about “bad ideas”
