Mise en scene refers to everything placed within a scene, including props, costumes, and lighting. For their music video, the group picked bright colors for the actors' clothes to match the lively, pleasant theme. Scenes from the film DreamGirls were included to advertise both the Beyonce song and the film. The video also portrayed the atmosphere of relationships through shots of a photoshoot, characters meeting and arguing. While mostly lively, the woman singing at the end was framed in dark shots to convey sadness. Mise en scene is an essential aspect of crafting a music video that fits the artist's lyrics.

1. Mise enscene
Mise- en-scenemeans something put in a scene and it consists of prop,
costume and lightning. This helps us in terms of picking up props for the actors.
We picked different clothes for each actor for a reason. For example, the two
main protagonists ‘Daniella Benson’ worepink becauseshe’s a girl and
‘DwayneGrossett’ worebluebecause it’s brightand boys colour.
However, the theme of our music video was lively and the setting was in a
pleasant environment, which means that the actors had to wear bright colours.
This music video by Beyonce is linked with the release of the film ‘DreamGirls’.
Therefore there are shortscenes of the film within the music video; often the
lyrics will link in with the plot of the film advertising both the music and the
film.
The music video also links with the film by its scenery as there is a shotof a
scene wherethere’s a photo-shootand the people are giving each other ‘the
looks’ which represents love in the air. There are also scenes of them meeting,
talking, arguing and fighting which represents how people start and end
relationships.

2. The atmosphere of the video is lively but it changes at the end of the video,
there are dark shots of the woman singing later on creating an impression of

audience understand the song and also promoting it at the same time. My
group and I made surethat our music video fit the lyrics of the artistwe
picked. The mise en scenesetting is one of the mostessential aspects of the
music video.
