3. What are miracles?
• They are places in which were and still are some
unusual things which take place. They go beyond the
range of rational explanation. The multitude of
phenomena, which happened there, causes that today
they are a goal of numerous pilgrimages. In a natural
way these places have become the catalyst of the
worldview changes. It is not a surprise that even the
biggest sceptics, confronting its rational point of view
with a „wonderfull" character of these lands are made to
realise their own belief.

5. Terespol
• Recently, a lot has been said about the miracle which allegedly occurred in
Terespol. The unusual things take place in one of the Orthodox Christian
churches in Terespol – the town laying near the Polish – Ukrainian border.
News of the miracle in the Orthodox Church of The evangelist John the
Theologian have spread rapidly. According to the testimony of the faithful,
the aromatic oily liquid with wonderful properties is flowing from the eyes of
the icon of the Virgin Mary Quickly Meeting Requests. Persons who had a
contact with it, certify to its unusual action. Patients return to health, and
tired gain the happiness of life.
Pilgrimages from entire Poland come to find out about the excellent
properties of the oil. -informs recently "Dziennik Wschodni". The history of
the icon, which from which the insoluble oily substance flows is quite
unusual. This is a copy of the image icon from the top of Athos. The pastor
of the Orthodox churches in Terespol bought it in Ukraine and gave to 16-
years old Łukasz. It is the latter that noticed the unusal things happening.
After the discovery of the phenomenon, the boy told everything to the priest.
Soon it was decided to transfer the image to the temple. The Synod of the
Orthodox Churches is going to deal with the alleged miracle soon.

6. Medjugorie
• Located in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the village is a place of worship from
the years. It is not a surprise. In 1980s of the last century the unusual things
took place there. In June 1981, there was a revelation of Mary (Gospa) to
six children. Since then, all these people were experiencing the vision,
during which Mary allegedly sent a convey to the world. The six people
often experience visions during which the signs in the sky and on the Earth-
occur. It results in the change of the light intensity. Mother Mary appears to
visionaries today, but in variable periods.
Despite the fact that Medjugorie was still not officially acclaimed by Vatican
as the place of revelations, each year the thousands of pilgrimages come to
this place. From the beginning of the 80’s the place was visited by ca. 30
million people. The Holy See did not consider these revelations as religious
or extra natural, but in March of this year pope Benedict XVI decided to set
up a committee, which will lead an investigation and examine the
phenomenon of the paranormal activities allegedly taking place in
Medjugorie.

7. Sokółka
• The events in Sokółka took place last year. According to the
knowledge gathered so far, in the local church of St. Anthony the
Eucharistic miracle occurred. It is revealed from the numerous
relations that during the Communion, one of the priests dropped the
Host for the congregation on the floor. Following the liturgical
procedure, the Host should be melted in so called vasculum – a
liturgical vessel with water. They did so.
After a couple of days, water changed its colour to red. What was
more – it turned out that in the vessel there was also the small
section of the human heart muscle that appeared. The wonderful
finding was examined by scientists from Białystok University. It is
also known that the authenticity of the tissue was confirmed by two
independent doctors. They stated that, the found tissue comes from
the human heart muscle being in pre-mortal state.

8. Akita
• In the village Akita situated in Japan there is a figure of the crying and bleeding Virgin
Mary. More than 500 people have seen it so far. The first witnesses of an unusual
event were nuns. Wonderful events took place in 1973 before the Sisters has seen
the bleeding figure, one of them, Agnes was the celebrant of mystical sensations, in
the course of which saw the light coming from the Sanctuary which brightened the
entire Church.
Once upon a time when the deaf Sister Agnieszka was praying together with the
other nun, in front of the Holy Mary figure, the blood coming out of the hand of the
statue appeared. At that time Agnieszka felt unbearable pain coming out of the hand,
which was present for a long time. When the bishop came to visit the abbey, to take
part in the renovation of the monastric vows by sisters, the figure started to bleed
again. This time the flow was fair. Two months later the figure was covered with
brightness. When sisters came closer, they acknowledged that there is a strange
liquid on the statue reminding sweat. After drying the figure it started to smell lilac and
roses in the chapel. From January 1975 to September 1981 the tears were running
from the eye sockets. The phenomenon was observed 101 times. Scientists from the
University of Akita, after conducting many studies acknowledged the authenticity of
the tears, blood and sweat. The church was critical referring to the authenticity of the
wonder. Not earlier than in 1984 after the cessation of figure’s crying bishop Shojiro
Ito stated that the revelation was genuine.and in 1988 r. cardinal Ratzinger accepted
the evidence as trustworthy.

9. Tepeyac
• The hill Tepeyac is a place, in which described today Mary showed
itself to be the Mother of God from Guadelupe. According to beliefs,
started appearing St Juan Diego in December 1531 Revelations
lasted for a few days, and were ended with a miracle - thanks to the
Mother of God an image presenting her came into existence. In the
place of revelations a temple was built. The miracle was recognised
by the Church.
Recently a young man coming from Guatemala claimed that in his
belongings there is an unusual figurine presenting the image of the
Mother of God from Guadelupe. According to his relation which was
accompanied with photographs, figurine is bleeding with bloody
tears. Juan Carlos Ramos confessed, that apart from coming into
the possession of the beautiful figurine, in the recent time he was
also visited by the Mother of God in his dreams. In their route Mary
was supposed to foretell him that two tragic cataclysms are coming:
eruption of the Pacaya volcano in Guatemala and undergoing the
tropical storm Agata. Both cataclysms collected the fatal toll.

10. Lourdes
• Lourdes was also a place of St. Mary revelations. They took place in
1858 r. From that time on millions of the faithful who look for spiritual
recreation and atheists interested in Lourdes phenomenon are
comming to this French town, The leter usually convert. It is no
wonder that they do. The miraculous healings are quite common
there. They are experienced by people to whom doctors did not give
any chance. The Medical Beauro of Lourdes have acknowledged 68
instances, in which there was a miraculous healing. Many
pilgrimages acknowledge much more inexplicable events.
• The witness of the revelations in Lourde was St. Bernadetta. St.
Mary occurred in the cave and told her to drink water from the
nearby spring and to pray. Bernadetta had seen Virgin Mary 18
times. The body of the Saint did not undergo the process of
decomposition.

11. Jasna Góra
• It is the most popular place of pilgrimage of Catholics in Poland. A monastery of Pauline monks
and an image of the Częstochowa Mother of God, by which the difficult to exemplify number of
wonders occurred. Jasna Góra is from a historical point of view also a special place for all Poles.
In the 17th century there was an attempt to capture Jasna Góra stronghold by Swedes. The
attempt ended in a fiasco.
Until today in various studies it is possible to find descriptions of unusual events which took place
in Częstochowa. Paralysed people suddenly rose from wheelchairs, and blinds recovered the
eyesight. A 29 year old can serve Ms Janina can serve as the case study. She suffered from the
multiple sclerosis. Illness took all hope from this woman, The constant progress of the illness
caused that she could move only using crutches. On top of all that a husband left her, leaving her
alone with two children. The prospect of total loss of the control over one's legs and the eyesight
caused that the young woman had started more and more often thinking about the death. One
day, during the dream, a Mother of God showed herself for her. The vision induced her to go on
the pilgrimage to Jasna Góra. During the prayer before the image of the Częstochowa Mother of
God, something unusual happened - the woman at some point dropped bullets with which until
now practically she didn't part and started walking on her own. All symptoms of illness yielded
what was confirmed by doctors. This remarkable event happened in 1979 Since then, the long
hiking constitutes no problem for Ms Janina. Similar events are taking place there for centuries.
In 1495 Maria Pierzchała coming from Myślenice remained blind since the twelfth year of age,
Hearing about the unusual healing which was taking place in the sanctuary, she went on a
pilgrimage. Woman praying in front of the image of the Mother of God, at some point was healed.
As the sources inform, during the prayer she started to see.

12. Lanciano
• Town in Italy, the place, were the Eucharistical miracle recognized by the
Church happened. History which rendered this small town famous dates
back to the 8th century Just then, during the Holy Mass conducted by the
Basilian monk who was undergoing the crisis of faith, the Host being in a
monstrance, and signifying in the Church the Body of Christ undergone the
transformation. The slice of the wafer turned into a real body and blood.
Both body and blood, being an effect of that event survived the test of
time. Scientists which performed analyses don't have doubts, that real
human tissue and blood are in a monstrance. Results of inquiry of
scientists explicitly determine the blood type, as "AB". The body
constituting the fragment of the tissue of the cardiac muscle has the same
group. The identical blood type was stated on the Turin shroud. The tissue
which was observed, didn't have signs of cuts what made the interference
of man impossible into the event. It is astounding, that in spite of the lack
of using any conserving substances, none of the elements disintegrated.
From before over 1000 years before it is possible until today to watch the
effect of that miracle at the church in Lanciano.

13. Fatima
• 13 May 1917 a Mother of God was supposed to reveal herself to three Portuguese
children for the first time. Then she revealed to the small shepherds again repeatedly
to 13 October 1917. Small shepherds from Fatima got to know the meaning of the
three so-called Fatima Secrets which until today are a subject of numerous
discussions and are being subjected by the faitful to some numerous interpretations.
The church got acquainted with the plot of every of secrets and recognised their truth.
First secrets constituted the vision of the hell which was found kind of below the
ground and described the image of suffering of these who will meet the ones who will
be there. The second secret constituted the announcement of coming of the World
War II. The meaning of the third secret was revealed only in 2000 by John Paul II. It
was known exclusively to the Popes. A vision of the priest wounded from the bullet
was in it. Many faithful is relating it to the attempt to kill John Paul II what took place
in the anniversary of the first revelation, 13 May 1917. It is also said that the meaning
of the third secret of Fatima wasn't fully revealed until what gives the possibility of
some new speculations.
Two from the children who were witnesses of Fatima revelations - Franicszek and
Hiacynta - died soon after the experienced revelations. Body of Hiacynta didn't
decompose. Their beatification took place in 2000. Lucia joined the order of
barefooted Carmelite nuns and died in 2005. In three years after her death a
beatification process started.

14. Cova da Iria
• In this Portuguese town a climactic point of the revelations took its place, It
is known as the Miracle of the Sun. It happened in 13 October 1917 The
field near Fatima filled the recalled day up with 70 thousand people. Many
scientists and atheists which with tongue in cheek looked on the faithful
crowd arrived and were awaited the foretold miracle. At some point dark
clouds obscured the sky, and a rain fell on the assembled crowd, leaving
nobody dry. The moment later the Sun came through the thick clouds and
started... to whirl. Witnesses related that the Sun was in a remarkable dance
and simultaneously started approaching the Earth.
The turning bright shield could be seen by 70 thousand people. Many of
them expected the near disaster which will cause the end of the world.
Nothing like that happened. Instead of it the Sun in a flash drained people in
a flash. That day many atheists were converted.
