A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

● Discussion on the budget

Issues Raised:
● How we will get from our starting place, to our locations. We have been looking on
how to travel to our destination to film and where we will all meet up.
● Designated meeting point - Stratford Station - if convenient/ necessary. From here, we
will all travel together to Waterloo.
● We will start the budget this week, and work out our finances for the production of
the music video. We will use a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet to calculate all our costs
and make sure we do not go over our budget. Alex Pereira will be in charge of the
majority of the budget. Once we find out what we will buy for the production, e.g.
props and costumes, we will then proceed to buy the products.
● This week we may also start on our script, with all group members having input,
however, Lauren Rosenfeld,Millie West and Alex Pereira will contribute the majority
of it.
● Alex Dwyer will begin on the storyboard.

● We will use different modes of transport such as bus’’, trains
and walking to get to our designated area. To get to local
locations, such as around barkingside, we will use bus’,
however, to get to more rural locations, such as Waterloo in
London, we will use the trains.
● Using the props and materials list we created, we will record how much each item
costs and type it into our spreadsheet. This will then give us a total sum of how much
everything should cost.

● Script almost completed, with only second half to write. First draft will be completed
this week.
● We will start the storyboard this week

● Props added to production. These include a washing basket for the drugs scene and
flowers that will be put on the grave when we got to the cemetery. This will make the
filming look more realistic.

● We travelled to Waterloo Bridge, to location scout and see if it was a possibility to
film there. We took several pictures, which will be added to our blogs. We have
concluded that Waterloo Bridge is where we will film.

with time to refilm anything.
