Mineral and Energy Resource of Bangladesh
The document summarizes the key mineral and energy resources of Bangladesh. It discusses that Bangladesh has limited reserves of minerals like natural gas, oil, and coal. Natural gas is the most important energy resource and is used widely in industries. Bangladesh has over 20 natural gas fields and some oil was discovered at the Haripur oil field. Coal reserves are around 303 billion tons but remain largely untapped. The country is pursuing its first nuclear power plant to reduce reliance on natural gas and meet increasing energy demands. Conservation efforts are needed to sustainably manage Bangladesh's mineral and energy resources for future development.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

3. Introduction
Minerals are the most important resource of the world.
But the total reserves are limited and unequally
distributed over the world. This uneven distribution of
mineral resource make difference between countries of
the world. above all, mineral resource is a special gift of
nature to any country which help to develop in many
economical & industrial sector.
3
4. Minerals
Minerals is a naturally occurring inorganic metal with a
specific chemical composition but sometime formed two or
more fundamental element.
A mineral is any naturally formed solid chemical substance
having a definite chemical composition & characteristic
crystal structure.
B.J Skinner & S.C Porter.
4
5. ❖ Naturally occurring.
❖ Most of the minerals are solid.
❖ It’s inorganic .
❖ Has a fixed chemical formula.
❖ Has an orderly crystalline structure.
❖ Its result of geological processes.
A Mineral is…
5
6. • When a mineral use that enhances the quality of human life
that is called mineral resource.
• When those economic interested.
• Examples- gold, silver, copper, sandstone, coal, petroleum,
natural gas, gypsum, aluminium, copper, limestone, diamond
etc.
Mineral Resources
6
7. We can classified the mineral resource in three major types
on the basis of characteristic of mineral. Which are…
Classification of Minerals
Metallic Non-Metallic
Energy
Minerals
Ferrous Containing
Non-Ferrous
Precious
Granite, Mica, Salt,
Potash, Sulphur,
Limestone, Marble,
Sand Sone, Etc.
Coal, Petroleum,
Natural Gas

8. Metallic mineral resource are
metals that are hard substance
and conduct heat and electricity
with a characteristics of lustier
or shine.
Metallic mineral resource
For example: Gold, Silver,
Tin, Copper, Lead, Zinc,
Iron, Nickel, Chromium, and
Aluminium. 8
9. Non-metallic minerals are
minerals that have no metallic
luster and break easily. They
are typically some form of
sediment.
Non-metallic resource
Example: sandstone, Plastic,
gypsum, glass, rubber, salt,
silicon, dolomite basalt etc.
BasaltSilicon
Glass Gypsum
9
10. The resource which are used to produce or
help to produce power, heat, electricity,
move objects etc. are called energy mineral
resource.
Example of energy resources:
Energy Resource
❖ Solar energy
❖ Wind Energy
❖ Tidal energy
❖ Geothermal energy
❖ Fossil fuels

Energy Resources
Non-renewable (84%)Renewable (16%)
Renewable energy Non-renewable energy
They are resources that can be
totally replaced or are always
available naturally, that are
particularly inexhaustible.
A natural resources that once
consumed cannot be replaced.
Also known as a finite resources.
11
12. Oil and Natural Gas
• Accumulations of dead marine organisms on the ocean
floor were covered by sediments.
• Muddy rock gradually formed rock (shale) containing
dispersed oil.
• Sandstone formed on top of shale, thus oil pools began to
form.
• Natural gas often forms on top of oil.
• Primary component of natural gas is methane
12
14. Gas and Oil in Bangladesh
Bangladesh is the nineteenth-largest producer of natural gas in Asia. Total of 22
natural gas fields have been discovered in Bangladesh (2001). Natural gas from
Bangladesh is very pure, with about 95% to 99% methane and almost no Sulpur.
The average compositions are 97.33% methane, 1.72-% ethane, 0.35% propane
and 0.19% higher hydrocarbons. The total condensate reserve in the country is
estimated at about 65 million barrels. Production and marketing of natural gas
in Bangladesh started in 1960 with pipeline gas supply from Chattak gasfield to
Chattak cement factory.
Haripur Oilfield The only oilfield so far discovered in Bangladesh. On refining
the Haripur oil produced 18% petrol, 17% kerosene, 35% gas oil and 30%
lubricant plus residue. Oil productions from Haripur oilfield started in January
1987. The well ceased to produce oil since July 1994. Production was suspended
because of decline of oil flow and excessive watert output. 14
17. Coal
• Solid fossil fuel formed in several
stages
• Land plants that lived 300-400 million
years ago
• Subjected to intense heat and
pressure over many millions of years
• Mostly carbon, small amounts of
sulfur
17
18. Coal Resources of Bangladesh
Bangladesh has a little percent of
coal. The name of these deposits
are- Barapukuria, Phulbari and
Dighipara in Dinajpur, Khalashpir in
Rangpur, Jamalganj in Joypurhat and
Takerghat in Sunamganj District.
Coal is mainly consumed in
brickfields both in public and private
sectors, and in small industries. Coal
reserves of 303 billion tons.
18
19. Nuclear Energy
• Bangladesh started construction of its first nuclear power reactor,
Rooppur 1, in November 2017. Commissioning is expected in 2023.
• Construction of the second unit at Rooppur commenced in July 2018.
• The country has a rapidly increasing power demand and is aiming to
reduce its dependence on natural gas.
Bangladesh first conceived building a nuclear power plant in 1961. The
Bangladesh Atomic Energy was established after independence in 1973
at Savar.
19
20. Use to Natural Gas, Oil and Coal in Bangladesh
Use to Natural Gas Use to Oil Use to Coal
20
22. • walking, and bicycling.
• Super-insulate your house and plug all air leaks.
• Turn off lights, TV sets, computers, and other electronic equipment when
they are not in use.
• Wash laundry in warm or cold water.
• Use passive solar heating.
• For cooling, open windows and use ceiling fans or whole-house attic or
window fans.
• Turn thermostats down in winter and up in summer.
• Buy the most energy-efficient homes, lights, cars, and appliances
available.
We have to save energy
22
23. Conclusion
Bangladesh has a little amount of Mineral and energy. The
renewable and non-renewable both energy are to much
sufficient in Bangladesh policy making, economic and other
activities. Mainly we have Natural Gas, Oil and Coal. All are
use to Industrialization and development of our country. We
know that, our resources are a little amount so have to
proper utilize, safe and use to perfect condition.
