Dairy Farming to Produce Milk and Cattle Breeding Detailed Project Report, Pr...Ajjay Kumar Gupta
Breeding to meet the demand for beef production, owners also use selective breeding to attain specific traits in their beef cattle. An example of a desired trait could be leaner meat or resistance to illness. Breeds known as dual-purpose breeds are also used for beef production. These breeds have been selected for two purposes at once, such as for both beef and dairy production.
Dairy farming is a large unorganized sector in India and a major source for livelihood in rural areas. Dairy farming is a class of agriculture for long-term production of milk, which is processed (either on the farm or at a dairy plant, either of which may be called a dairy) for eventual sale of a dairy product. Commercial and small scale dairy farming in India is no doubt playing an important role in the total milk production and economy of our country. And almost all regions of India are suitable for setting up dairy farming business.

Raw Milk Collection Using Pos (Point Of Sale) and Gprs TechnologyIJERA Editor
Dairy industry is largest industry in India which collects milk from farmers and produces different dairy products. As Agriculture is backbone of the country and dairy farming is major business for farmers, the proposed system will make this collection, billing process of milk from farmer to dairy more faster, reliable, accurate and less costlier. The proposed system contains POS (Point Of Sale) module and software running on it which includes in crane weighing scale withGPS / GPRS module. System is mobile so it can be carried out in vehicles like car, bicycle or trucks. The vehicle goes to individual farmer, farmer swipes their smart card, person collects milk by weighing it, generates the billing slip to farmer, and the data will be transferred to Centralized system using GPRS. Mean while centralized system will track the location of vehicle by GPS. The centralized system is able to locate the vehicle, make the changes in rates for billing.

A number of regional and global initiatives have emerged to provide guidance on acceptable practices to actors ranging from individuals caring for animals on farms to large scale commercial enterprises providing animal-based products from different livestock systems.

Milk Quality Tracking and Tracing System as a Basis for Quality Based Milk Payment System
In Kenya, raw milk safety has been disputed over a decade but no documented data exists.
Greatest milk quality challenge for the CBE’s are proper ways to maintain cold collection.
The regulatory institutions are constrained financially hence raw milk quality standards are reluctantly applied and enforced.
This creates a vacuum for farmers to switch between buyers of raw milk specially due to quality issues.

In Kenya, cooperatives are controlling about 43% of GDP and 31% of national savings and deposits. They have 70% of the coffee market, 76% dairy, 90% pyrethrum, and 95% of cotton.
In Benin, FECECAM (Faitiere des caisses deparge et de credit agricole mutuel), a savings and credit cooperative federation, provided USD 16 million in rural loans in 2002.
In Côte d'Ivoire cooperatives invested USD 26 million for setting up schools, building rural roads and establishing maternal clinics.
In Kenya, over 300,000 people are directly employed by co-operatives
Globally, cooperatives provide over 100 million jobs around the world, 20% more than multinational enterprises.

farmers & dairy plant for quantity and quality
analysis and data recording/processing.
4. Dairy development on Co-operative model
(Anand Pattern)
Empowerment of people
Bulk milk collection
Critical mass for fruitful bargaining
Place to deploy advanced technologies
Introduction of automation for fair and prompt payment
Platform for bringing togetherness among farmers
Creation of hierarchical structure
From .. milk producer to .. end consumer
5. Milk quality measurement…The need
Ensure food safety
Composition of Milk
Suitability for product conversion
Standardization
Incentive for higher quality yields
Fair & prompt remuneration
Increase in volume
…..Commercial operation of Dairy as an industry
6. Milk testing……The concept
Payment based on quality
Prompt & transparent testing
Elimination of malpractices
Increase in volumes
Socio-economic upliftment

LAMP GLASS CHAMBER DETECTOR
12. Electronic Milk Tester (EMT)
Accuracy + 0.1 %
Speed 120-150 Sample per hour
Cost of operation 0.05 KSH/Sample
Transparent milk testing to suit dairy
requirement.
Consistent performance from past 3
decades.
Proven & rugged
More than 1,00,000 deployment.
13. Smart Auto Calibration DP-EMT
Automatic high speed version
Embedded Data Processing
Tamper proof calibration
Smart Card Technology
Conclusion….Photometric
Proven and trusted technology for Fat testing
Low maintenance cost
14. Ultrasonic Milk Analyzer
Indigenized milk analyzer.
Accuracy + 0.1% for Fat;
+ 0.1% for SNF
Rugged design.
Conclusion….Ultrasonic
Less stable technology for Fat/SNF testing.
More maintenance cost compare to Photometric, limits the life
Effective in controlled condition to meet need of SNF testing
