Northern Essex Community College was designated as a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) in 2002. Early in 2014, the college initiated a small pilot program to implement Starfish Early Alert. NECC has experienced marked success in its campus rollout and expansion throughout the implementation process, helped by initiatives that drive awareness and deliver training and support among campus constituents. The school’s efforts have earned it a 2015 “Rising Star” Award from Starfish by Hobsons and a finalist placement in the associates category for Excelencia in Education. NECC will also be featured in a national report by the Alliance of HSI Educators. This webinar will focus on effective implementation strategies, student success and retention outcomes, lessons learned and NECC’s plans for an integrated student experience using Starfish to increase student retention and success.

Moving Toward Sustainability: Kansas City Teacher ResidencyJeremy Knight
Kansas City Teacher Residency (KCTR) is a teacher residency program that recruits, certifies, and develops teachers in the Kansas city region. Launched in 2016, by Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, KCTR has established a high-quality and diverse teacher preparatory program for Kansas City. In late 2018, Bellwether partnered with KCTR and Kauffman Foundation to redesign KCTR's program model to bring it in line with peer benchmarks and ensure long-term impact and sustainability. Over six months, Bellwether, in collaboration with KCTR's senior leadership team, Board, and key advisers, developed and began to implement a plan to put KCTR on a path to organizational and financial sustainability (initial changes significantly reduced the ongoing fundraising need). Key priorities identified in the plan included strengthening partnerships (with schools and university), optimizing KCTR expenditures, exploring new earned-revenue opportunities, and gradually growing the number of residents to full-scale. With the new plan, KCTR is prepared to continue the growth of impact while doing so in a sustainable manner, to ultimately fuel Kansas City with passionate, effective, and diverse educators.
Implementing education responses to coronavirus (COVID-19)EduSkills OECD

SUNY Broome is one of 64 campuses in the State University of New York System and a new member of Achieving the Dream. “Joining Achieving the Dream was important for us,” said Heather Darrow, Staff Associate for Student Retention. “We are striving to become a college that is proactive and not reactive. I think that’s why we joined when we did - and why we invested in Starfish. Both investments demonstrate our administration’s commitment to student success.” SUNY Broome focused on early alert flags and Kudos in their initial implementation, and now they are eager to do more. They are training faculty, building automated workflows around flags, and developing ways to encourage participation both within the faculty and for those in non-academic roles. This Webinar will focus on advice and “lessons learned” in the early stages of implementing the Starfish platform at a community college. As Heather Darrow said, “In the beginning it seemed very abstract – I know it can be hard to conceptualize how Starfish will work. But I figured it out, and others can too. I look forward to helping other schools!” Speakers: Heather Darrow, Staff Associate for Student Retention Michelle Beatty, Online Student Advisor

The recovery of education systems from COVID-19 is vital to the future social and economic health of societies.
Based on their work during the pandemic, the OECD and Education International have jointly established ten principles to contribute to the debate about how education systems can recover and reach greater levels of quality and equity.
One aspect is about rethinking curriculum design and delivery.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

Purpose is to show that all of us are responsible for Student Success. My goal is not to exclude, difficult to get more circles on the page. IT, CELT, Libraries, IRPE, etc… – implied that they support ALL missions..
Sharing the cost of education: the state and the student This graph masks two important facts: 1. the number of students at UK has been rising (since 2001, enrollment has gone from 24,791 to 27,171 – an increase of 9.6% 2. the effect of inflation is not considered. Public funds = state appropriations excluding and non-instruction related programs tuition and feesIn 2001-02, students provided 35% of the money spent on education (tuition and fees = 35% of the public funds); In 2009-10, students provide 57%…but with that said, SA are significant component.if the university did not receive any state funds, tuition rates would have to increase over 75% Third consideration in setting tuition rates: fixed cost increases
