Introduction: Chalcone, isoxazole and acridines have diverse biological activities. A series of novel chalcone and isoxazole substituted 9-anilinoacridines were synthesized for their antibacterial, larvicidal, activities. Methods: A series of novel chalcone and isoxazole substituted 9-anilinoacridines (3a-h and 4a-h) were synthesized from 9-chloroacridine by microwave irradiation method. The antibacterial evaluation was performed by cup-plate method and screened for their larvicidal activity by larval bioassay method.

This study aimed to understand the binding forces between ICAM-1 and anti-ICAM-1 grafted nanogels using AFM force spectroscopy. The researchers used yeast surface display to select for mutations that increased both affinity and stability. They then individually reverted each mutation in the final variant back to wild type and measured how binding and stability were impacted. They found that mutations in the antigen binding site often decreased stability, and compensatory mutations were required to optimize both properties. Analyzing intermediate clones along the evolutionary pathway provided insights into this stability-affinity tradeoff.

Prediction of Protein Solubility in Escherichia coli using Logistic regression
This document presents a new model for predicting protein solubility when overexpressed in E. coli using logistic regression. The model was developed using a database of 212 proteins, including 160 insoluble and 52 soluble proteins. 32 parameters that could influence protein folding and solubility were used as predictors, including molecular weight, cysteine fraction, hydrophobicity measures, and individual amino acid frequencies. Logistic regression exhibited excellent prediction accuracy of 94% for the model and 87% by cross-validation, outperforming discriminant analysis which achieved 69% cross-validation accuracy. This new model provides an improved method for predicting protein solubility in E. coli overexpression systems.

Ten new ligands based on 1,3,4-oxadiazole analogues of Naproxen were designed and docked into the binding sites of COX-1 and COX-2 proteins. Evaluation of the Impact of Biofield Treatment on Physical and Thermal Proper...
In the present study, the influence of biofield treatment on physical and thermal properties of Casein Enzyme Hydrolysate (CEH) and Casein Yeast Peptone (CYP) were investigated. The control and treated samples were characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), Thermo Gravimetric Analysis (TGA), particle size and surface area analysis. The FTIR results revealed that biofield treatment has caused reduction of amide group (amide-I and amide-II) stretching vibration peak that is associated with strong intermolecular hydrogen bonding in treated CEH as compared to control. However, no significant changes were observed in FTIR spectrum of treated CYP. The TGA analysis of treated CEH showed a substantial improvement in thermal stability which was confirmed by increase in maximum thermal decomposition temperature (217°C) as compared to control (209°C). Similarly, the treated CYP also showed enhanced thermal stability as compared to control. DSC showed increase in melting temperature of treated CYP as compared to control. However the melting peak was absent in DSC of treated CEH which was probably due to rigid chain of the protein. The surface area of treated CEH was increased by 83% as compared to control. However, a decrease (7.3%) in surface area was observed in treated CYP. The particle size analysis of treated CEH showed a significant increase in average particle size (d50) and d99 value (maximum particle size below which 99% of particles are present) as compared to control sample. Similarly, the treated CYP also showed a substantial increase in d50 and d99 values which was probably due to the agglomeration of the particles which led to formation of bigger microparticles. The result showed that the biofield treated CEH and CYP could be used as a matrix for pharmaceutical applications.
QSAR Study on Antitubercular Drug Derivatives
A quantitative structure-activity relationship study was conducted to predict new anti-tuberculosis agents. QSAR models were developed using descriptors of molecular structure calculated by software. Model selection methods identified the most significant descriptors. The best model had a high R-squared value and could accurately predict antitubercular activity. Future work involves testing top predicted molecules and expanding the study to other molecular structures.

Corrosion inhibition study of bract extract of Musa acuminata inflorescence o...
Inhibition efficiency of acid extract of dry Musa acuminata bract as corrosion inhibitor for mild steel in 1N hydrochloric acid was investigated in the present study. Experimental methods include weight loss, polarization and surface analysis studies. The inhibition efficiency increased with increase in inhibitor concentration and decreased with temperature suggesting the occurrence of physical adsorption. Potentiodynamic polarization curves reveal that inhibitor perform as a mixed type of inhibitor. The electrochemical impedance study showed a decrease in double layer capacitance as the adsorption of inhibitor lead to structural change at electrode-solution interface thereby controlling the mild steel dissolution by charge transfer mechanism. The mild steel surface in the absence and presence of the inhibitor was analysed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Adsorption isotherms were tested and the experimental data fit well with the Langmuir adsorption. Corrosion inhibitor has efficiency as high as 94.93% at 2% v/v inhibitor concentration. Inhibition mechanism can be attributed to the adsorption of phytochemical compounds of the bract extract on the surface of the mild steel.

Delafloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic used to treat acute bacterial skin and skin structure infections. It exists as an injectable powder for intravenous administration and as oral tablets. Delafloxacin has broad-spectrum bactericidal activity against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria such as MRSA. It works by inhibiting DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV in bacteria. Delafloxacin is well absorbed orally or intravenously, widely distributed in tissues, and primarily eliminated through hepatic metabolism and renal excretion. Common adverse effects include tendinitis, tendon rupture, hypersensitivity reactions and exacerbation of myasthenia gravis.

Evaluation of the Impact of Biofield Treatment on Physical and Thermal Proper...
In the present study, the influence of biofield treatment on physical and thermal properties of Casein Enzyme Hydrolysate (CEH) and Casein Yeast Peptone (CYP) were investigated. The control and treated samples were characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), Thermo Gravimetric Analysis (TGA), particle size and surface area analysis. The FTIR results revealed that biofield treatment has caused reduction of amide group (amide-I and amide-II) stretching vibration peak that is associated with strong intermolecular hydrogen bonding in treated CEH as compared to control. However, no significant changes were observed in FTIR spectrum of treated CYP. The TGA analysis of treated CEH showed a substantial improvement in thermal stability which was confirmed by increase in maximum thermal decomposition temperature (217°C) as compared to control (209°C). Similarly, the treated CYP also showed enhanced thermal stability as compared to control. DSC showed increase in melting temperature of treated CYP as compared to control. However the melting peak was absent in DSC of treated CEH which was probably due to rigid chain of the protein. The surface area of treated CEH was increased by 83% as compared to control. However, a decrease (7.3%) in surface area was observed in treated CYP. The particle size analysis of treated CEH showed a significant increase in average particle size (d50) and d99 value (maximum particle size below which 99% of particles are present) as compared to control sample. Similarly, the treated CYP also showed a substantial increase in d50 and d99 values which was probably due to the agglomeration of the particles which led to formation of bigger microparticles. The result showed that the biofield treated CEH and CYP could be used as a matrix for pharmaceutical applications.
QSAR Study on Antitubercular Drug Derivatives
A quantitative structure-activity relationship study was conducted to predict new anti-tuberculosis agents. QSAR models were developed using descriptors of molecular structure calculated by software. Model selection methods identified the most significant descriptors. The best model had a high R-squared value and could accurately predict antitubercular activity. Future work involves testing top predicted molecules and expanding the study to other molecular structures.

Corrosion inhibition study of bract extract of Musa acuminata inflorescence o...
Inhibition efficiency of acid extract of dry Musa acuminata bract as corrosion inhibitor for mild steel in 1N hydrochloric acid was investigated in the present study. Experimental methods include weight loss, polarization and surface analysis studies. The inhibition efficiency increased with increase in inhibitor concentration and decreased with temperature suggesting the occurrence of physical adsorption. Potentiodynamic polarization curves reveal that inhibitor perform as a mixed type of inhibitor. The electrochemical impedance study showed a decrease in double layer capacitance as the adsorption of inhibitor lead to structural change at electrode-solution interface thereby controlling the mild steel dissolution by charge transfer mechanism. The mild steel surface in the absence and presence of the inhibitor was analysed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Adsorption isotherms were tested and the experimental data fit well with the Langmuir adsorption. Corrosion inhibitor has efficiency as high as 94.93% at 2% v/v inhibitor concentration. Inhibition mechanism can be attributed to the adsorption of phytochemical compounds of the bract extract on the surface of the mild steel.

Delafloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic used to treat acute bacterial skin and skin structure infections. It exists as an injectable powder for intravenous administration and as oral tablets. Delafloxacin has broad-spectrum bactericidal activity against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria such as MRSA. It works by inhibiting DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV in bacteria. Delafloxacin is well absorbed orally or intravenously, widely distributed in tissues, and primarily eliminated through hepatic metabolism and renal excretion. Common adverse effects include tendinitis, tendon rupture, hypersensitivity reactions and exacerbation of myasthenia gravis.

Methods: The quinazoline-chalcone derivatives (13a-r) have been prepared by the Claisen-Schmidt
condensation of various substituted benzaldehydes (12a-r) with substituted l-(4-(3,4-
dihydroquinazolin-4-ylamino)phenyl)ethanone (11a-b) in the presence of aqueous NaOH. Three
potential compounds 13f, 13g and 13h exhibited cytotoxicity against leukemia (GI50 value of
1.07, 0.26 and 0.24 μM), Non-small lung (GI50 values of 2.05,1.32 and 0.23 μM), colon (GI50
values of 0.54, 0.34 and 0.34 μM) and breast (GI50 values of 2.17, 1.84 and 0.22 μM) cell line,
respectively.
Results and Conclusion: Based on these biological results, it is evident that compound 13h has the
potential to be considered for further detailed studies either alone or in combination with existing

Although Artemia has been known to man for centuries, its use as a food for the culture of larval organisms apparently began only in the 1930s, when several investigators found that it made an excellent food for newly hatched fish larvae (Litvinenko et al., 2023). As aquaculture developed in the 1960s and ‘70s, the use of Artemia also became more widespread, due both to its convenience and to its nutritional value for larval organisms (Arenas-Pardo et al., 2024). The fact that Artemia dormant cysts can be stored for long periods in cans, and then used as an off-the-shelf food requiring only 24 h of incubation makes them the most convenient, least labor-intensive, live food available for aquaculture (Sorgeloos & Roubach, 2021). The nutritional value of Artemia, especially for marine organisms, is not constant, but varies both geographically and temporally. During the last decade, however, both the causes of Artemia nutritional variability and methods to improve poorquality Artemia have been identified (Loufi et al., 2024).
Brine shrimp (Artemia spp.) are used in marine aquaculture worldwide. Annually, more than 2,000 metric tons of dry cysts are used for cultivation of fish, crustacean, and shellfish larva. Brine shrimp are important to aquaculture because newly hatched brine shrimp nauplii (larvae) provide a food source for many fish fry (Mozanzadeh et al., 2021). Culture and harvesting of brine shrimp eggs represents another aspect of the aquaculture industry. Nauplii and metanauplii of Artemia, commonly known as brine shrimp, play a crucial role in aquaculture due to their nutritional value and suitability as live feed for many aquatic species, particularly in larval stages (Sorgeloos & Roubach, 2021).

field capable of driving flat rotation (i.e. Keplerian circular orbits at a constant speed for all radii) of test masses on a thin
spherical shell without any underlying mass. Moreover, a large-scale structure which exploits this solution by assembling
concentrically a number of such topological defects can establish a flat stellar or galactic rotation curve, and can also deflect
light in the same manner as an equipotential (isothermal) sphere. Thus, the need for dark matter or modified gravity theory is
mitigated, at least in part.

The debris of the ‘last major merger’ is dynamically young
The Milky Way’s (MW) inner stellar halo contains an [Fe/H]-rich component with highly eccentric orbits, often referred to as the
‘last major merger.’ Hypotheses for the origin of this component include Gaia-Sausage/Enceladus (GSE), where the progenitor
collided with the MW proto-disc 8–11 Gyr ago, and the Virgo Radial Merger (VRM), where the progenitor collided with the
MW disc within the last 3 Gyr. These two scenarios make different predictions about observable structure in local phase space,
because the morphology of debris depends on how long it has had to phase mix. The recently identified phase-space folds in Gaia
DR3 have positive caustic velocities, making them fundamentally different than the phase-mixed chevrons found in simulations
at late times. Roughly 20 per cent of the stars in the prograde local stellar halo are associated with the observed caustics. Based
on a simple phase-mixing model, the observed number of caustics are consistent with a merger that occurred 1–2 Gyr ago.
We also compare the observed phase-space distribution to FIRE-2 Latte simulations of GSE-like mergers, using a quantitative
measurement of phase mixing (2D causticality). The observed local phase-space distribution best matches the simulated data
1–2 Gyr after collision, and certainly not later than 3 Gyr. This is further evidence that the progenitor of the ‘last major merger’
did not collide with the MW proto-disc at early times, as is thought for the GSE, but instead collided with the MW disc within
the last few Gyr, consistent with the body of work surrounding the VRM.

The ability to recreate computational results with minimal effort and actionable metrics provides a solid foundation for scientific research and software development. When people can replicate an analysis at the touch of a button using open-source software, open data, and methods to assess and compare proposals, it significantly eases verification of results, engagement with a diverse range of contributors, and progress. However, we have yet to fully achieve this; there are still many sociotechnical frictions.
Inspired by David Donoho's vision, this talk aims to revisit the three crucial pillars of frictionless reproducibility (data sharing, code sharing, and competitive challenges) with the perspective of deep software variability.
Our observation is that multiple layers — hardware, operating systems, third-party libraries, software versions, input data, compile-time options, and parameters — are subject to variability that exacerbates frictions but is also essential for achieving robust, generalizable results and fostering innovation. I will first review the literature, providing evidence of how the complex variability interactions across these layers affect qualitative and quantitative software properties, thereby complicating the reproduction and replication of scientific studies in various fields.
I will then present some software engineering and AI techniques that can support the strategic exploration of variability spaces. These include the use of abstractions and models (e.g., feature models), sampling strategies (e.g., uniform, random), cost-effective measurements (e.g., incremental build of software configurations), and dimensionality reduction methods (e.g., transfer learning, feature selection, software debloating).
I will finally argue that deep variability is both the problem and solution of frictionless reproducibility, calling the software science community to develop new methods and tools to manage variability and foster reproducibility in software systems.

A series of novel chalcone and isoxazole substituted 9-anilinoacridines were synthesized for their antibacterial, larvicidal, activities. Methods: A series of novel chalcone and isoxazole substituted 9- anilinoacridines (3a-h and 4a-h) were synthesized from 9- chloroacridine by microwave irradiation method. The antibacterial evaluation was performed by cup-plate method and screened for their larvicidal activity by larval bioassay method.
