Camerawork
• Many close up shots of the characters hand painting
• Pan towards the right to show all the art equipment
• Point of view angle from over the shoulder to view the finished
painting at the end
• Establishing shot of school location
• Long shot to show the different student costumes
• High angle and tracking shot of the school jock
• Many 2 shots to show the friendship between students
Editing
• Fade to white to separate scenes of painting to represent the
lengthy procedure of a student perfecting her art piece
• Titles are animated and made to look like paint being splattered
onto the screen.
• There is also a paint brush which appears at the end of the title
sequence which wipes across the screen to represent an ellipsis in
narrative of showing location change to the school.
3. Mise-en-scene
• Art room, painting equipment (paint
brushes, canvases), paint splattered shoes
and apron, school building, school bus, cars,
bikes, skate boards, varsity jackets, girls
wearing mini skirts, rucksacks and hand
bags, lockers, high key lighting, the male
characters are often pushing each other or
looking up and down girls.
Sound
• Non diegetic- rock sound track while the girl
is painting
• Diegetic- school bells, school radio, cars
arriving at school, chit chat from other
students
• Dialogue- when girl calls brother to wake up
and when students are introduced

• Shot to shot of conversations where it starts with the gang
member of most authority and ends on him too.
• Jump cut of when the boys run to go attack

5. Mise-en-scene
• Cigarettes, tracksuits, hoodies, dark lighting as it is night time, the lighting from street lamps make the
bottom halves of their faces shadowed and unclear, dirty street alleyways with rubbish behind them, group
of boys are all huddled together talking in secrecy.
Sound
• Diegetic- lighter lighting a cigarette, police sirens, footsteps on the streets, wind
• Non diegetic- quite, tense sound track
• Dialogue- British accents with lots of slang involved
