2. GLADIATOR
• The starting to gladiator is Russell Crowe’s hand slowly gliding through the
long grass of a field and it is very calm and is almost looks not real and that is
what the director wants you to think because it is just an imagination in his
head.
• Lighting- is bright in his dream then goes back to dark reality where he is at
war with the barbarians and this lets us know that he wishes he was in a better
place and it is not a good time.
• The shots used are close ups to show more emotion in the scenes
• Sound- in the first shot there is the sound of children playing in the
background which makes us think that he misses his family. The music at the
start is very calming then as we realise what position of authority Russell
Crowe is in the music changes to a heroic tune.
• mese -en scene- in the darker scene there is an army ready for war in a forest
but in the more peaceful scene there is only him. This creates a tranquil
atmosphere in his dream.
3. • The opening to the quantum of solace is very action packed and goes
straight into the scene with no opening titles and switches between lots of
different shots e.g. The close up of Daniel Craig's eyes, the switches between
the different men in the cars and the parts of the car like the rear ends and
wheels
• Lighting- starts darker in a tunnel then is very light.
• Special affects- shooting(noises)- car crashes
• Everything about the scene lets you know that it is going to be very serious.
The music is very intense and builds up the tension even though the shot is off
very beautiful scenery.
• Non diegetic sound is used to build tension e.g. music
• Mese en scene- in the scene there is lots of traffic, mountains, building site full
of workers.
4. • The opening scene to limitless throws you right into the main bit of his
life and you can see that he is a very wealthy man because of his
top floor pent house and are wondering what he has done to annoy
the people that are trying to break into his home but then goes back
to when it all started.
• Lighting-is at night time which makes the scene more intense (no one
notices that he's ready to jump)
• Narrative- he is talking about his own life and explaining what is
happening
• Camera- the shot starts at the bottom of the building then travels up
the outside to emphasise how tall the building is and how serious the
situation is that he is on the edge.
• Mese en scene- unpacked boxes and furniture.
5. KICK
ASS 2
• The opening scene for kick ass 2 is funny and changes shots for when
they are talking and zooms out when the girl shoots the guy even
though he says not too(is wearing a Kevlar vest) and laughs at him then
pulls out a bigger gun and shoots him In the back
• Special effects- when the bullet hits him he goes flying to the ground
which would need strings and special affects and the sounds of the
gunshot.
• Lighting- is day time which lets the audience know that the characters
don’t care because they are messing around with guns and anyone
can see them.
• How they are dressed and props used let the audience know that they
are young and should not have access to firearms e.g. Backpacks for
school.
