• Our song is about a person who is living a boring, lonely and
reparative lifestyle and wants to escape it
• In order to try and change that he hands out flyers in the street and
sticks advertisements up inviting strangers to a house party decided
to have to try and change his boring loner ways
• It is soon discovered at the party that the people he invited aren’t
going to be his friends and are still as much strangers as when he
handed them invites in the street
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JGKefxnyT6E
• Non-linear story line
• Begins and ends with a boy on the floor at a party he has hosted
with the guests all masked or face painted wearing fancy dress and
he is not to show they’re not his real friends
• Throughout the video you will see the boy giving out invites and
advertising his party to strangers
• We will show him prepping for the party e.g. blowing up
balloons/putting up banners
• We will also show flash bags to the party where it is clear everyone
else is having fun and he is not (here we will show expressionless
close ups on the anonymous guests in their masks/ face paint)
• When the music picks up we will show him running along the
promenade upset as if he wants to escape
• When the music tempo lowers we will show the boy sitting alone on
the metro wiping the condensation off the window and having a
clothed bath/shower to emphasise his sadness and loneliness
• At the end of the song we will reverse everything that has happened
in the video matching the high tempo and finish it back where he
started lying on the floor zooming in this time as he closes his eyes
• We will intergrade the bands performance by crosscutting between
the performance and story line throughout
• We will film the band performing in a low lit room (either the room
used for the party or a dark room of the same effect)
• We will project visuals over the band for example busy scenes from
the party as well as symbolic imagery such as cars driving down the
road and clouds in the sky to represent the attempt to escape the
‘dull life’ in an artistic metaphorical way
• When the song picks up pace we will have more dynamic shots of
the band playing to reflect the excitement of the song (e.g. tilts,
camera movement etc.)
• We will dress the actors in our video
eccentrically to contrast against the dull
scenes of Whitley Bay in the winter as well as
the dark mysterious party atmosphere
• The ‘strangers’ at the party will be wearing
fancy dress costumes or animal masks or have
their faces painted to hide their identity to
symbolise that they are not his friends at all
• Props will include: balloons, part decorations,
cups etc. as well as the flyers and posters he
hands out
• The costume of the main character will
sufficiently more plain than that of the
strangers at the party and fairly dull so that
he blends in with the location but still have an
interesting retro look about him.
• We will have 2 costumes for the main
character for the day of the party and the day
before the make it easier for the audience to
follow the non-linear plot
