5. Sinuses
Sinuses are the openings in our skull
through which air that we breathe passes
before they get into our lungs. More often,
people suffer from sinusitis which causes
pain cheekbones, teeth and headache. How
to get rid of sinus pain is always a question
that disturbs so many people. However,
there are various ways one can get rid of the
sinus pain. Below are some of the ways;
6. How to get rid of sinus pain using pain killers:
• There are some drugs that are bought over the
counter and are usually effective in relieving sinus
pain. The most common pain killer that is widely
known is the paracetamol. However, these
pharmaceutical pain killers should not be over
used because they could lead to other side effects
that could be harmful to other body functions.
There are also herbal pain killers that can be used
to relieve this kind of pain. The bark of a willow
tree is one of the famous natural pain killers which
can be used to get rid of sinus pain since it
contains salicin which is a natural occurrence
chemical similar to aspirin.

10. Echinacea and goldenseal
• are both wonderfully versatile and
powerful herbs for fighting infection
and the accompanying sinus
infection symptoms.
• Echinacea can be taken for up to 2-
3 weeks at a time. It is generally
considered to be most effective
when long term use is interrupted
by periods of at least as long. You
can find Echinacea at most drug
stores and many grocery stores.
Follow the instructions.
• Typically you can double the
suggested amounts if you are trying
to fight a sudden, imminent or
acute and chronic sinus infection.
Echinacea is considered to be quite
safe. Overdose and allergy are
not likely with echinacea. Usually, a
regimen of 300mg of liquid
echinacea together with Oregon
Grape, Milk Vetch, Privet and
Chinese Magnolia
11. Use herbal teas for sinus problems
Herbal teas are excellent
sinus treatments. As you
sip herbal tea, inhale the
soothing vapors. Other
good herbs for treating
sinus problems
include mullein, chamomil
e, comfrey, marshmallow,
ginger, eyebright,
fenugreek, thyme, echina
cea, and calendula
12. Essential oils help the sinuses
• Aromatherapy can greatly benefit the
sinuses. Eucalyptus, tea tree, lavender,
and rosemary essential oils help soothe
and heal the entire respiratory system.
Essential oils are also useful in a steam
bath. Use lavender and eucalyptus --
they evaporate with the steam from the
bath to penetrate and heal the sinuses.
These oils may also be used in foot
massage. Concentrate on the bottom of
toes and balls of the feet.
• Sinus problems usually benefit from a
cleansing diet of vegetables, fruits, and
grains. Greens, lemon juice, carrot juice,
pineapples, papayas, and apples are
good things to add. Don’t forget to drink
plenty of pure, fresh water – the best
remedy of all.
13. Use horseradish to clear sinus mucus
• When the sinuses are stopped up, a
good way to drain them is
with horseradish. Grate a couple of
teaspoons of fresh horseradish root and
take a big spoonful by mouth. The
sinuses will begin to drain and should be
clear within a few minutes.
• At the first sign of a cold or allergy, try
this preventive measure. Mix a teaspoon
of sea salt or table salt with a cup of hot
water. Stir to dissolve. When lukewarm,
snort up the nose and allow liquid to
drain down the back of the throat and
then spit it out of the mouth. If you have
some powdered myrrh, add a pinch to
the mixture before snorting. Myrrh may
not completely dissolve and the mixture
may need to be strained through a
couple layers of cheesecloth before
snorting. This all sounds awful but really
works to ward off colds. Better to gag for
a few seconds than to suffer weeks with
a cold!
14. Apple Cider Vinegar
Mix 1-2 spoons of apple
cider vinegar in about 6
ounces of water along
with a teaspoon of honey
in order to sweeten its
taste. Drink this solution
thrice a day, continuously
for 5 days. Apple cider
vinegar is the best to
relieve sinus
congestion as it loosens
up the mucus in the
cavities
15. Horseradish
Horseradish is one of the
best herbal remedies for
sinus congestion. Simply
grate some horseradish
and put a pinch of the
herb in your mouth. Let it
remain in your mouth for
a few minutes and then,
spit it out. It quickly
dissolves the mucus,
blocked in the sinus.
16. Grapefruit Seed Extract
• This is the best home
remedy for clearing
chronic sinus
congestion. Grapefruit
seed extract has
excellent anti-fungal
properties as well as
it acts as a natural
antibiotic. It is readily
available as a nasal
spray in the market.
17. Cayenne Pepper
Include cayenne pepper
in your regular diet. This
helps to open sinuses,
and therefore, one of
the best natural
remedies for sinus
drainage.
18. Onion
Chop an onion and put it
in the boiling water. Boil it
for about 5 minutes. Now,
inhale the steam of this
water for some time.
Onions are a good anti-
bacterial, and therefore, is
the best home remedy for
sinus drainage. You can
even drink the mixture
when it is warm, for better
results.
19. Garlic
Applying crushed garlic
along with honey is also
very effective in treating
a sinus infection as it
unclogs the sinus
cavities while removing
the bacteria. Garlic is an
excellent anti-bacterial
and helps in quickly
healing the infection.
20. Carrot & Cucumber Juice
Drink a combination of
carrot and cucumber
juice regularly in order
to get relief from sinus
infection.
21. Sandalwood, Cucumber and Neem Paste
• Apply the paste of
sandalwood powder,
cucumber and neem
leaves for a soothing
relief from the
problem of sinus
infection.
22. Sweet Basil Leaves & Tea Leaves
Make a paste of tea leaves
and sweet basil leaves and
apply it regularly in order
to cure sinus infection.
23. Fenugreek
Take a teaspoon of
fenugreek seeds and
boil them in a cup of
water. Now, strain and
drink it warm.
Fenugreek is an
effective remedy to get
rid of sinus infection.
24. Eucalyptus Oil
Add a few drops of
eucalyptus oil in your
warm bath water. This
will clear the
congestion, caused due
to sinus infection.
25. Tulsi Leaves
Make a paste of tulsi
leaves and then, mix a
little bit of honey in it.
This is a good cure for
sinus infection.
26. Cumin Seeds
Take a spoonful of cumin
seeds and tie them in a
thin cotton cloth. Dip this
cloth in a pan, containing
water. Also add a few
drops of eucalyptus oil in
the water. Now, heat the
pan and inhale the
vapours. It will give you
relief from sinus
congestion.
28. MULLEIN (Verbascum thapsus) –
• You can never do
without Mullein.
Whether raspy or
goopy, this fuzzy,
common plant can be of
help – although I do
think it stands out best
in situations where the
sinuses are much drier.
29. PLANTAIN (Plantago major)
Like Mullein or Ginger, I
like to put Plantain in
practically all of my Neti
rinses as a feature role
of the blend.
