3. Chilblains
Chilblains are the tenderness, redness and
swelling in the skin of usually feet and
hands. The small blood vessels beneath
the skin become inflamed and cause
itchiness. The general causes to this may
be poor blood circulation, cold sensitivity,
wearing ill-fitted footwear etc. The affected
area turns reddish or bluish purple and
sometimes it is marked with blisters and
ulcers.
4. Chilblains
The problem is seen in both men and
women, although women are more prone to
getting affected. Those who are underweight
are also prone to this condition. Chilblains
are more common in winter season which is
between November and April. Here are
some home remedies to fight chilblains.
5. Garlic
• Garlic is seen to have positive
effects in curing chilblains. It
instantly reduces inflammation
and itchiness. Take few garlic
cloves and crush them
properly making a thick
paste using water. Now apply
this paste on the affected area.
If it is the toes and fingers,
make sure that you apply it in
between the fingers too.
Alternatively, you can make a
garlic juice and have it at least
twice a day. You can also rinse
the affected area with this juice
to see fast results.
6. Potato
• Potato is quite a handy and
effective home remedy for
chilblains. Slice a raw potato
in slices, take a slice and
sprinkle some common salt
on it. Now rub the affected
area with that salt sprinkled
raw potato slice. Do this at
least twice or thrice a day.
Alternatively, you can boil the
potatoes and take the water
that was used for boiling to
rinse the affected part with. It
reduces inflammation and
cures chilblains fast.
7. Onions
• Onions are well known for
suppressing inflammation and
itching. Take few onions and crush
sieve them into juice. You can
have this juice twice a day and
amidst all you can also rinse
the affected part with this juice.
Lemon juice also works the same
way on chilblains. You can rinse
the affected part or mop it thrice a
day with lemon juice. You can also
use honey to cure chilblains. Make
thin dough of wheat flour using
one tablespoon of honey, glycerin
and egg white. Apply this on the
affected area as it saves it from
cold
8. Pepper
• It is quite a popular home
remedy for chilblains. Fry
few peppercorns in sesame
oil or mustard oil, in case
sesame oil is not
available. Strain the
solution and use it for
massaging the affected
area. Do not use this
remedy if you have blisters
and ulcers on skin as it will
cause further pain. You can
also add pepper accordingly
in your daily diet to see fast
results.
