India. 
 India’s medical tourism sector is 
expected to experience an annual 
growth rate of 30%, making it a $2 
billion industry by 2015. 
 An estimated 150,000 of these travel 
to India for low-priced healthcare 
procedures every year.

city bring in an estimated 150 international patients

 Chennai attracts about 45 percent of health tourists 
from abroad arriving in the country and 30 to 40 
percent of domestic health tourists. 
 A number of hospitals in Chennai have hired language 
translators to make patients from Balkan and African 
countries feel more comfortable while at the same 
time helping in the facilitation of their treatment.

 According to a CII study the Industry’s earning 
potential estimated at Rs.5000-10000 Crore by 
2012. 
 Medical tourism can contribute Rs 5,000- 10,000 
Crore additional revenue for up- market tertiary 
hospitals by 2012and will account for 3-5% of the 
total healthcare delivery market.
