Lets go back in time………
 The first recorded instance of people travelling for medical treatment dates back
thousands of years to when Greek pilgrims travelled from the eastern Mediterranean to

 Later the Greeks and Romans would travel by foot or ship to spas and cult centers all
around the Mediterranean. The Asclepia Temples, dedicated in honor of the Greek god
of medicine, were some of the world's first health centers

medical tourism, for the European upper classes looking to soothe their ills., treating
diseases from gout to liver disorders and bronchitis

The Ministries of Health, External Affairs, Tourism and Culture are working to increase
the number of medical tourists. The government provides online visas, multiple entries,
extensions of stay, and accreditation to more hospitals
 The government of India has introduced medical visa
 Duration of Medical visa is up to 1 year or duration of the treatment
 The visa allows maximum of 3 entries during 1 year
 Extension of this visa up to another year is also possible year on the orders of the
