 Television was not invented by a single inventor, instead many 
people working together and alone over the years, contributed 
to the evolution of television. 
 Electronic television was first successfully demonstrated in San 
Francisco on Sept. 7, 1927. The system was designed by Philo 
Taylor Farnsworth, a 21-year-old inventor who had lived in a 
house without electricity until he was 14.

 The history of the Internet begins with the development of 
electronic computers in the 1950s. 
 he Internet has no single “inventor.” Instead, it has evolved over 
time. The Internet got its start in the United States more than 50 
years ago as a government weapon in the Cold War. For years, 
scientists and researchers used it to communicate and share 
data with one another. Today, we use the Internet for almost 
everything, and for many people it would be impossible to 
imagine life without it.

Web 2.0 
 Web 2.0 describes World Wide Web sites that use technology 
beyond the static pages of earlier Web sites. The term was 
coined in 1999 by Darcy DiNucci and was popularized by Tim 
O'Reilly at the O'Reilly Media Web 2.0 conference in late 2004. 
 A Web 2.0 site allows users to interact and collaborate with 
each other in a social media environment, as consumers of 
user-generated content in a virtual community. 
 Examples of Web 2.0 include social networking sites, blogs, 
wikis, video sharing sites, hosted services and Web 
applications

in the late 1990s. 
 In the early 2000s, all major web browsers except Internet 
explorer allowed users to block unwanted pop-ups almost 
completely
