2. The Hush sound
● The hush sound is a universally named 'indie' band
originating from Illinois, United States.
● The band began in 2002, and have since had such
hits as 'We intertwined', 'honey' and 'medicine
man'.
● They are a big hit with audiences of between 16-
25.
● Their music has featured in movies and
programmes such as 'House', 'Grey's anatomy' and
'Snakes on a plane'.
3. Our audience aims
● We aim to target an audience of ages from between 16 to 25.
● We want to do this for a number of reasons, the first being:
● We are that age, and by us promoting the video through our
friends and social networking sites we are bound to get an
audience of people that are our age (17-18).
● The song and band (we intertwined – the hush sound) are
famously called an indie band and many people between the
ages of 16-25, know who this band are and enjoy their music.
● Our actors are all between 16-25 which makes a younger
audience associate with our narrative because an older
audience (25+) may not associate with the teenage storyline.
4. Research into 'indie'
● We are aiming for an audience of mainly 'indies', as we wish to attract
like-minded people that will appreciate our video!
● Indie scenesters often dress in bright colours and own brightly coloured
bags, accessories etc.
● Indie kids all listen to the same music, and often listen with headphones in
(usually at all times).
● Indie kids are often completely on trend with fashions, however some
indie kids wear vintage clothes, but they are considered to be 'hipsters'.
● Indie kids usually listen to very upbeat music and always appear happy.
● Most indie kids play a musical instrument and claim that they are better
than they actually are (personal experience.)
● Indies often walk alone, they only socialise in school or at parties, rarely
in other hours. They are mainly stuck at home on sites such as facebook,
youtube, tumblr and youtube.
5. Ways we want to incorporate the
'indie' stereotype
● Firstly, the actors costumes will be mainly bright colours and very 'on-fashion'
trends as we want our audience to associate with the styles and the types of
clothes that our actors wear, so that the video appeals to them more.
● In our video we aim to incorporate the use of many bright coloured accessories
such as balloons, music notes, hearts etc. This is to give the video an overall
positive feel but also to fit into an 'indie' kids lifestyle.
● As Indie kids often listen to music on headphones are almost constantly seen with
headphones in when walking, we wanted to incorporate the use of headphones
into our music video because we felt that the indie stereotype would associate
with it by headphones being a universally popular object to own for a young
adult. Due to this we decided that our main actors should both be walking with
headphones in and listening to the song playing through headphones, to fit in
with the indie stereotype.
● Seeing as Indie kids are famous for using social network sites such as facebook, tumblr
etc, we decided to incorporate one of the most famous social network sites ever into our
video. The song 'we intertwined' is actually played by the main character on a video
sharing website called Youtube. This site is often associated with teens and young adults
because the majority of users on this site are teenagers.
6. Conclusion
● So, in conclusion, we aim to incorporate several
different elements of the indie stereotype that we
can so that our audience of ages between 16-25
will associate with it more, and it will appeal to
them in various ways.
