NEGUS’ THEORY OF ORGANIC
AND SYNTHETIC IDEOLOGY.
Ed sheeran – organic artist
• Ed Sheeran is very natural in the way he presents
himself. He dresses on stage the same way in
which he would dress at home. He doesn’t try to
be something that he’s not on stage.
• He has success by himself as he can naturally sing
and he doesn’t have to dress differently when he
is on stage.
• He isnt the best looking person but they don’t
change what he looks like when he is at home to
when he is on stage to make him better looking.
• What you see is what you get.
Below is a picture of Ed Sheeran
having a coffee and this proves that
he looks the exact same on stage
as he does everyday.
Above is a photograph of Ed
Sheeran on stage, with the
same hairstyle and dress
sense as he does everyday.
• Ed sheerans album (+) went to the top in the UK in the
first week selling 102,000 copies.
• In the USA for the billboards it went to number 5 selling
42,000 copies.
• The album is the highest debut for a British artist's first
studio album in the US since Susan Boyle's I Dreamed a
Dream.
• The reason he sold so much was because he is a
naturally talented singer and people enjoy his music as
he doesn’t use lots of computer editing and sound
effects.
• Ed sheeran also recorded an acoustic version of his
album, this meant that people could hear him without
any sound effects which showed us his talent.
• Ed Sheeran aims his music at the younger
audience where as Negus thinks that they
normally aim at older or more sophisticated
consumers.
• As he aims his music at teenagers and
probably quite a lot of the older generation
but not as much. Yet he does aim it at a more
sophisticated consumers as you wouldn’t hear
chavy teens listening to his album because its
too smooth and slightly dull for their liking.
Synthetic Ideology
Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga – synthetic artist
• Lady Gaga is an artist who completely changes
from when she is on the stage to when she is at
home.
• She uses the stage name Lady Gaga instead of her
real name which is Stefani Joanne Angelina
Germanotta.
• The reason she uses a stage name is because her
agent will have told her to use this as she will get
more attention having a slightly different name
which makes her stand out.
• When she is on stage she has been dressed by
stylists, make up done my artists and her
image will have been chosen by her record
company.
• She came about in 2005 and she like most
synthetic artists were given a short time to
prove their success before other combinations
are tried out.
• She has had many number one hits and is
popular in the globally.
• She constantly craves attention unlike these
organic artists as her role of being Lady Gaga
is being someone different.
• She entered one of the award evening is a
dress made completely out of meat.
• The difference is is that if Lady Gaga walked
somewhere as Lady Gaga she would be
recognised where as is she walked in
somewhere as Stephanie, no one would
recognise her.
• Lady Gaga aims her music at people who listen to
the charts which is normally the younger
generation.
• She isnt very sophisticated or a good role model
and therefore that is why her music is aimed at
the younger audiences.
• In May 2012 she was thought to have made $52
million in a year.
• She wont be an artist who will be around for a
long time as she hasn’t got a wide enough
audience.
• She doesn’t compare to the natural organic
artists such as Michael Jackson and take that who
have been around for absolutely years.
