Measures of Central Tendency: Mean, Median and Mode
Â
Media evaluation question: What have you learned form your audience feedback?
1.
2. Why was feedback needed?
0 Following the completion of my coursework
production, I began to receive feedback from my
colleagues, whom completed productions of their own
as well. Subsequently, each component of our works
were compared and analysed. The feedback was
deployed to gain primary insight into what is
admirable and what needed improvement in regards
to work.
3. Main Course - Overview
0 I intended for my main production, a print magazine
article, to replicate and thus meet the expectations of
renowned football magazines, while matching the
aesthetics and content in the process. My article
covered the impact financial gains has had on the
English Premier League, a conventional topic that I
felt would attract a wider audience scale if published
in reality.
4. Front Cover
0 WWW
0 Good use of colour: One primary comment made about my front cover, was the excellent
use of colour, which resulted in a scheme maintained coherently throughout both the front
cover and contents page.
0 Eye-catching variety of text fonts: As noted in another evaluation question, The text fonts
The cover stories and the descriptions as well as the magazine title (The Conventional
Playmaker) are all presented in different fonts to add variation and capture the audienceâsâ
attention for different purposes. In particular, the magazine title is the largest text to allow
understanding of what the magazine is. Bigger text also tends to be more eye-catching than
other forms of text.

0 Filter Issues: Some issues were evident in regards to the editing and filter used for the main
image, which depicted a refereeâs use of a red card. As this was not the finalised product, this
was not as much of an issue as first presumed. Without the filter, the photo was very
unappealing and lacked quality.
0 Text Implications: Though the text for separate segments varied in font, there were issues
primarily because of the spacing between each box, and as a result, more articles were
needed to congest space. Some feedback suggested that a lack of professionalism/relation to
real examples burdened the front cover.
0 How were the following aspects improved?
0 The central image was given a new effect which meant a different filter was used. More
relatable articles were added to congest blank space and add variation to the magazine.
Professionalism was installed by editing the barcode, as well as adding a price and date to
the front cover.
5. Contents:
0 WWW
0 Consolation Background Image:
0 The main point addressed towards the contents page was the lack of
photographs per article included, but how the background image was a
consolation, in its aesthetics, the quality of the photo, and how the singular
photo directly related to the article type.
0 EBI
0 Misplacement of text:
0 Though the placement of articles into separate sections, identified by the use
of headings, the placement of each section was ambiguous and perhaps
incoherent.
0 How was the following aspect improved?
0 I took the time to actually redo my contents page; while still maintaining the
same photograph, I rearranged the text/sections, added new articles, and
added a contacts section with additional effects.
6. Main Article:
0 WWW
0 A great title:
0 The title alone received plenty of positive feedback. Good use of font in title;
the use of font, the catchy, âStraight to the pointâ title would not only appeal
to a football-oriented audience, but also a generalised audience due to the
culmination of two separate topics, as intended within the research and
planning process.
0 Images used effectively:
0 To add, the choice of imagery was also relevant, and matched both the
metaphorical and literal meanings that I aimed for throughout the
production stage. The questions asked during the interview within my
article were written in bold text, therefore easily differential from the
answers/other content. I included a quote to help bolster the overall
message exerted by the article which was liked by those who gave feedback.
0 EBI
0 There were a minimal amount of spelling mistakes, but the following
mistakes were corrected during an editing session.
7. Ancillary Task 1
0 WWW
0 Nice deployment of colour, which follows scheme:
0 The use of red as a dominant colour within my Billboard enabled for
a return to the maintenance of the initial colour scheme (Which was
detracted by the main article). The colour red is conventional, and is
also an eye-catching colour, which combined well with the bold
yellow and white coloured fonts.
0 Well Chosen font and catchy slogan:
0 The font chosen was bold, and allowed the slogan to catch the
attention of the intended audience. The slogan; âPlaying the
beautiful game is one thing. Understanding it is another.â, is catchy,
and sends out the inference that my magazine is of a preeminent
quality.
0 EBI
0 State topic of article:
0 The topic of the main article was not established, which may lead to
potential confusion for the audience.
8. Ancillary Task 2:
0 WWW
0 The chosen soundtrack is of very good quality,
according to the feedback received, and the script was
written well and within the respective time frame.
0 EBI
0 The Recording keeps âjumpingâ, and the voice changes
the way in which words are spoken far too often. This
leads to message being put across changing. Way in
which words are said is very important.
