HOW DOES YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT
REPRESENT PARTICULAR SOCIAL
GROUPS?
 One of the ways in which my group’s media
product represents our target audience,
working class teenagers, is through the
script. Through speech, our characters
embody the stereotypes attributed to this
class.
 The character’s speech is that of a South
London resident and our script includes
simple terminology through an assumption
that not all working class members are
accustomed to language that is of a more
refined calibre and such language is typical
of a horror movie.
 Both female protagonists in my groups sequence are
dressed in casual clothing typical of the target
audience (e.g. jeans, comfortable footwear and
leather jackets).
 We stayed away from clothes such as tracksuits and
trainers as to not appear antagonising and to display
to our audience that the characters are of a high-
ranked working class background.
 The protagonists are both aged between 16 and 17,
making them more relatable and engaging to the
target audience.
 My group’s sequence is targeted at each and every
race, however, I decided to challenge the status quo
of a film being led by a Caucasian protagonist and so
the lead characters are Afro-Caribbeans, who make
up most of the percentage of my target audience.
