How does your media product
represent particular social
groups?
My opening sequence was set up to
portray and attract a certain social
group, the target audience is 16-18 year
olds who are teenagers and live a
teenage life both genders who
predominately like watching horror
movie’s and any other particular movies
fans. To represent these social groups
we have used reasonably young
characters in our horror movie related to
every day life of a teenager hence why
our narrative includes two college
students as well as different props and
locations. However this does not sustain
very young teenagers below the age of
15 as our opening sequence includes
tense and scary scenes that are not
suitable for a younger audience.
How does your media product
represent particular social
groups?
Furthermore as stated the
two characters presented
in our opening sequence
are teenagers , teenagers
are stereotyped to be
surrounded by a social life
and friends , that is why
we chose our main prop
to be a mobile phone to
show that the teenagers
are young and
communicative
. The fact that teenagers are
stereotyped to be out our
narrative to be about two
students meeting up in a
park, as many teenagers
hang around in a park after
college this represent our
social group as many
teenagers may relate to this
and it might persuade them
and interest them to watch
the opening sequence.
The protagonist costume is quite
casual and illustrates a simple look ,
however we did use red trousers to
illustrate danger and for the
character to appeal to the audience
as the setting was generally dark.
RED TROUSERS SYMBOLIZES DANGER
How does your media product
represent particular social
groups?
. We used two different
races, the main character
being a white European girl
followed by her friend who is a
black Caribbean girl , we
chose these two characters to
represent different races. The
Gender for both of our
characters are female this
shows the friendship between
the two characters as they
may be best friends this may
create a better relation to the
audience as well as portraying
a innocent looking victim
look, however the killer was a
male character this shows the
opposite side as a male is
seen to be stronger and more
serious.
