A Strategic Approach: GenAI in Education
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.

- 1. Evaluation Part 6 What have you learnt about technologies from the process of making the product?
- 2. Mac Computers During my media product process I have used the Macs in order to do many aspects of my magazine. Firstly I used the software ‘Pages’ in order to create my front cover, contents and double page spread. I found this process one of the hardest parts of my studies. Creating the magazine was fiddly and complex at certain times in the process. I sometimes struggled to incorporate text and images in the right places. However after a while this process became easier and I found the Mac was really useful in producing my magazine.
- 3. Google During my research and planning stage and my production stage of my magazine, I have used Google in many ways to find information on various aspects of the music industry. I have collated images and statistics which have either been incorporated in my work or used to create my magazine.
- 4. Cameras Cameras have been used in my process several times. In my preliminary task I used the camera to take images of my model for the school newsletter front cover. After experimenting with the camera in the prelim task I learnt that you need to plan a set so you know clearly where and when your photos will be taken. You also need to arrange a date and time with your models so that there is no confusion. In my main task I used the camera to take photos of backgrounds that could be used in my final draft. I then discovered some of these backgrounds were not ideal for a front cover.
