EVALUATION
Q6
WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT ABOUT
TECHNOLOGIES FROM THE PROCESS OF
CONSTRUCTING THIS PRODUCT?
Tech
Through my media production I have uses a variety of tech/programmes to help me
reach my final product; through the process I have learnt how to use them and my
skills have improved along the way.
Canon EOS Kiss X4
Adobe Photoshop Cs3
Internet Explorer
Microsoft Powerpoint
Mobile phone
Canon EOS Kiss X4
I used this camera when taking all of my final images used in my magazine. It was a
great camera for me to use and I learnt a lot about it along the way. Due to my target
audience using good quality photos was a key aspect therefore this camera was
perfect. This camera had a preview screen therefore I could see the images right after
taking them which helped me improve the images taken afterwards as I could change
aspects for example the lighting and composition. It also had a large memory capacity
meaning I could store and take many photos before choosing the few I want to use;
this also gave me a chance to confer with my focus group.
I learnt along the way how to use this
camera and push it to its full potential. For
example how to alter IOS, and how to play
around with the depth of field to get the
perfect photograph. I also had a go at
changing the shutter speed.
Adobe Photoshop Cs3
I used this programme to edit my images to make them
‘pop’. I used different techniques to make them stand
out including changing the brightness/contrast and also
adding colour e.g made the eyes more vibrant and blue.
This programme helped me construct my final piece. I
learnt how to use the programme through tutorials I
found on youtube.
Photoshop changes/improvements...
I changed the image and
also the mast head I altered
to create the best looking
one which fitted my
magazine. I rotated bits of
text to make them look
better.
Text mainly altered, moved around
and changed boldness. Also
website/social media added as the
bottom
Internet Explorer
I used the web to help me conduct research into my codes and conventions, this then
helped my to construct my magazine due to the research conducted.
I also used internet explorer to research how to use the camera and how to use
photoshop; e.g with tutorials on how to alter the image.
I used Blogger to which is a folder on the internet where I placed all of my research
and everything else along the way. So all of my work was organised and displayed in
an organised neat manner. I was constantly adding more and more to this site as my
work developed. It helped me out a lot and I learnt a lot about the site along the.
(used tutorials in the beginning)
Mobile Phone
I used my iphone to form a focus group using the messenger app aka facebook.
This allowed me to speak to everyone in my focus group at the same time
however they could reply when they're ready to and the research is recorded
instantly and saved to that particular group chat. Therefore I could ask as many
questions whenever I wanted to and it was a much more convenient way than
getting a group of people together to talk, as this would be time consuming and
possibly only happen one time therefore if i wanted to know their opinions on
something else and we’d already meet up there would be difficulty getting
everyone back together at one particular time.
Microsoft Powerpoint/ Google Slides
I have used these programmes a lot in my
research, to record my codes and
conventions and also write this evaluation.
My process was writing the actual power
point on google slides as it saves
automatically to my drive and I can access it
from anywhere and once it is finished I would
download it as a Microsoft Powerpoint save
it as that to my desktop and then embed it
using slideshare onto blogger. By using
Google Slides I found it a much more
convenient considering it saves automatically
therefore cannot crash and then you cannot
lose all your work.
The programmes have formats which make
my work look well organised, neat and
clear, therefore it was easier for me to
return at a later date.
To Conclude
Technology has had a huge impact on my work and has pushed my production process along more quickly
and also helped in the final production of the magazine. If I did not have access to the technologies I have
mentioned my work would not look as professional.
They've also helped in the organising or my work making it easier for me to navigate and find what I've done
due to the way technology has set out my work. It's made my work more presentable and pretty to the eye.
I've learnt a lot about these technologies over the time I've used them in my work, I did not know much
about all of them however have taught myself and learned throughout the process of constructing my
magazine.
