Randolf Nyarko evaluated their preliminary magazine project and identified areas for improvement. For their main project, they looked at additional aspects of magazine layout beyond just product placement, such as photo style and context. They also considered feedback from audiences and represented different social groups. Time management was an issue initially due to scheduling conflicts with models, but Randolf rearranged schedules to continue work. For the final project, Randolf spent more time researching fonts and layouts to make the magazine more professional, drawing inspiration from similar existing magazines.

2. This has benefitted greatly as when I did my preliminary task, I only
specifically looked at one magazine to help my production. I basically only
took into consideration the layout of the products and missed a vast amount
of techniques including photography, audience feedback and social groups
represented.
RESEARCH & PLANNING

3. Instead of only taking into account the layout of a magazine, I looked
at other aspects too such as how the photos are laid out and the Mise-
en scene of them such as props, costumes and positioning. I also got
an insight into how various magazines of a similar genre to mine are
set out. Rather than looking at just the one magazine, I looked at a
variety which increased my knowledge of what types of aspects should
be included in my products.

Another key factor from the preliminary task is that I learned from these
mistakes by recording audience feedback on my products. This enabled
me to see how they would react to my product, outlining the advantages
and disadvantages. I also outlined my production process and explained
in detail what I was doing with my products and why

4. Time management for my preliminary task was a big problem. The models
intended to be used for my photo shoots originally were unable to fulfil
this as our free time in and outside college differed greatly. I overcame this
by rearranging my models who were free when I was which allowed me to
carry on with the production of my products. But this still set me back
quite a bit. I also spent quite a lot of time trying to pick out the fonts this
lead to me spending more time on my front page than the contents.
In my main task although my time management did improve I feel I still
could have manage my time better as I still had the problem of spending
longer on some parts than others

8. My final products in comparison to my preliminary products are much more
detailed in terms of the layout and pictures. Looking at the fonts on my
prelim, they seemed really basic and plain which made the whole products
unprofessional. However, on my final products the fonts I used differ greatly
as I did specific research into fonts and spent a lengthy period considering
which fonts to use. I created a detailed analysis outlining the strengths and
weaknesses of specific fonts which I felt represented the forms and
conventions. I took inspiration from the both Vibe! and XXL when
researching fonts for my own magazine, I did this to help make my magazine
fit the forms and conventions of these professional magazines as my
magazine intends to have a similar target audience.
