2. 7.Looking back at your preliminary task, what do
you feel you have learnt in the progression from
it to the full product?
Reflecting back on the task, I can say that I have been able to work independently and
carry out effective research and planning, as well as improving skills such as organisation
and time keeping. As an individual I contributed to my own research by buying a copy of
Kerrang! magazine and also annotating the cover page, contents page and double page
spread. Additionally, I think that one aspect of this course which benefited me was the
Photoshoot day. This enabled me to become familiar with the professional SLR camera
and due to my research on camera shots and angles, I was able to take into consideration
the specific type of shots I had to take for my magazine, such as the rule of thirds. Also, I
have felt that I have been able to recognise how I have improved my analytical skills in
regards to the codes and conventions of magazines. For example, I have documented on
this blog where I have reviewed any work that I have done and made sure to go back over
it and make additional improvements. Therefore I have learnt that criticising my own work
and constantly making improvements is the key to making a successful media product.
