I worked with Zara and Alex. I Was working on the camera filming, and
Alex and Zara were the actors. We organised our time by creating the
storyboard during lesson, this is where we came up with the shot angles,
we then met up after school to record and we then had two lessons and a
half (2hrs ½) to edit are film. Not all of us were experienced in editing and
so we all had to practice with demo clips but it took up some of our actual
time to edit our own work. Figuring out certain camera angles and which
ones would be suitable for each clip. We tried to focus on the important
parts of the story we was telling and have more interesting shots for them,
however we did not manage to do it for everything. Our strengths were
that we were able to comfortably work together as a cast on set and we all
put in an equal amount of work when it came to pitching our ideas. One of
our weaknesses were getting the perfect camera angles and identifying the
difference between the shots. What we would do differently next time is
focus more on highlighting on the important parts of the scenes for
example a zoom in on the invitation.
2. How did you plan your sequence?
What process did you use?
• Firstly we made a storyboard mentioning the
important scenes, which were essential to our
work. When we were making the storyboard
we focused on the positioning of the camera
angles. Making use of the space that we had.
We ran through what the characters would
say and where they would walk and when we
was happy with what we had we started
filming.
• The equipment we used was a Cannon HD
camera, we learnt how to set up the camera
using a tripod and we learnt to assemble
everything.
• We learnt How to find the right height for a
certain shot and how to record using the focus
adjustments. I also learnt that we had to make
sure that the spirit level was altered every time
we moved the camera on to different grounds.
4. What factors did you have to take
into account when planning, shooting
and editing?
• Making sure there was continuity between each
clip, so it looks more realistic.
• When panning we had to make sure we had more
space in front of the person rather than behind.
• When we was filming we had to make sure
everything that was being shown on camera had
to be there every time so when editing we would
have clean shots which ran smoothly when being
put together.
5. How successful was your sequence? Please
identify what worked well, and with hindsight,
what would you improve/do differently?
• The beginning of the film was good as the camera
handling was well done however we had a couple
of bad filming clips towards the end which lead to
the sequence being a bit off.
• The cut away shot of the invite linked well with
one of the characters picking up, this was one of
the things we was most worried about.
• We need to improve on having steady hands
when filming and not bumping the tripod.
6. What have you learnt from completing the task?
Discuss time management skills, group work skills,
• UI have learnt how having the board with the takes and
shots on it are really important for when we are editing
because it makes the job easier to do.
• I have also learnt that there could have been more
complicated diverse shots being used to make the
scene more interesting.
• As a group we worked well however to improve on the
quality of work we must be more focused because we
almost ran out of time for editing and filming.
• I have also learnt that and individuals dedication
affects the rest of the teams ability to work, so we all
have to support each others ideas.
7. Post production - What did you learn about the editing process? How
did you make decisions while editing? How did you plan your time to complete the
editing task? What were your strengths and weaknesses in this area? What would you
do differently next time?
• That it takes process to successfully complete it. I
also learnt that not every single part of a clip needs
to be used. I kept on watching all the clips and made
sure that I used the best clip this is so I had the best
results.
• We made sure we was all free after school to
complete the task successfully as a team.
• Our strengths were coming up with the ideas.
