Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

2. What haven l learnt?
This was my first real go at making a film, I have no experience with
editing software and therefore that was the bigger challenge for me.
I think we managed time effectively, all of our filming was finished
before not of the other groups. We therefore had longer to edit; this
was good because this is the field in which we struggled most. Max
and I worked well in a group even though there was only the two of
us, for the next task we will definitely work in a bigger group as we
could have done with an extra pair of hands. The storyboarding
which we did was followed mostly but with difficulty finding locations
to shoot and the disadvantage of filming within the school meant we
couldn't necessarily get the shots we first thought. The storyboard
however was mostly maintained throughout filming until the end
when we added on a few more scenes. We struggled with
continuity, I believe we wore 4 different items of clothing through
the clip. Although we maintained continuity between scenes our
outfits changed frequently. This was down to the fact that we were
filming in school as it is impractical to bring in props, costumes and
keep the same clothes on.
3. Areas of success
In our film we used a range of camera angles and used them
well, we had low angled shots to tracking. We used as many
shots as we could to create a different feel and perspective.
We planned our film well and did a good storyboard which we
mostly stuck to. Our time management was very good I felt, we
finished our filming on time and left enough time for editing. As
a group Max and I worked well, we never fell out and when we
disagreed, which was a rarity, we would compromise and
thought about what would be best for the film. Our use of
editing was minimalistic but since we finished we have
practised more and come up with ideas and made an opening
title which we think we are going to use next time.
4. Areas for development
Apart from working in a bigger group I don't think
there is much more that went wrong. Smaller things
that didn't matter in filming the preliminary piece such
as location will obviously be improved. We should
make sure that our film is correct before we begin
editing as a few times we found footage that wasn't
suitable or didn't have sound attached. We should
definitely focus more on the editing side of things next
time as we used a very minimal amount of average
quality editing. But we already have better quality titles
in the pipeline and I hope that it editing just keeps
improving!
5. Meeting the brief
time. We used shot reverse shot and a wide range of other camera We cut from one shot to the next
showing an action match, where one
scenes action matches the previous
one
6. Feedback
The film was very well filmed. It had
some good camera angles and an
interesting storyline. One member of
the group made most of the good
decisions. The editing was good but
the continuity was bad.
