joined the Bauer Media Group in January 2008, and therefore has been
around much less time than Times Inc. although they do a broader
range of media including television. But they have long lasting
magazines that they have produced, for example the Angling Times in
1953 which is an iconic brand. They have a similar genre of magazine to
Times Inc.’s nuts magazine which is FHM which was bought in 1994 by
the company, it is the bestselling in this genre and has proved to be
very successful. In 1996, they acquired digital music TV channel which
has grown into Box plus Network, a seven channel joint venture TV
business with Channel 4. This shows they have experience in the music
genre and what the audience wants. The Bauer Company have less
investments and companies they have bought. Also Bauer have fewer
genres that they have published therefore making it quite a select
company. They have a large readership with a magazine that is one of
the world’s bestselling men’s magazines in that genre, this shows that
they are very successful. They also do postal, distribution and
marketing services. This could be a disadvantage because they do
other things and do not specifically publishing therefore their focus
may be elsewhere and have less experience in this area of media
publishing.

they have over 600 magazines, more than 400 digital products and 50
radio and TV stations reach millions of people across the globe. This
shows that they have connections and are known all over the world. I
would prefer to go with the company Times Inc. because they are
successful and they already have a music magazine which is extremely
popular and therefore they know and understand how to market it and
make it the best that it can be. They have proved themselves to one of
the UK's most successful publishers and therefore would be the
company I would like to publish my new magazine.
