World War I And The Treaty Of Versailles
Have you ever wondered why World War II happened despite World War I being the war to end all
wars? World War I lasted four years and was very gruesome. Much of the Western Front was
destroyed and about 10 million people died. Germany ended the war by ceasing fire and making an
armistice on November 11, 1918. The Allied Power had successfully defeated the Central Powers and
America had accomplished their goal to end the war. After the surrender from Germany, the Allied
Power met up to make a treaty with Germany, however, Germany was not invited to come and
negotiate. The Treaty of Versailles would soon be created and it would put most of the blame of World
War I on Germany. The Treaty of Versailles contributed to the onset of World War II ... Show more

There were four main leaders during the Versailles Conference and they were: Woodrow Wilson,
George Clemenceau, David Lloyd George, and Vittorio Orlando. Each of them had major goals that
would benefit them since the war was on their land. Vittorio Orlando, the Prime Minister of Italy,
worked to get the extra land for Italy. Originally, they would not have been able to do this since Italy
was originally an ally of Germany, but they switched over to the Allied Powers in 1915 and declared
war on Germany. Italy was promised land as a reward for helping out and switching over to the Allied
Powers. David Lloyd George, the Prime Minister of Great Britain, asked for justice and not for
revenge. He wanted Germany to pay for the damages done to Britain s military, Germany s colonies,
and for Gremany to be stipped of its navy. He also helped Wilson and Clemenceau compromise.
George Clemenceau, the Prime Minister of France, wanted both revenge and to punish the Germans.
He wanted Germany to pay for the damage done during the war and to weaken Germany so that they
could never invade France again. He also wanted Germany to give up Rhineland, Alsace Lorraine, and
the Saar. Lastly, he wanted Germany to be totally and permanently disarmed so that it could not attack
other nations. Woodrow Wilson, the President of the United States of America, just wanted to end the
war by making a fair peace treaty. He devised the

Essay On Russian And Soviet Government
Russia has been run by many different governments since the time of Peter the Great. Accordingly, all
of these governments had their advantages, but eventually all will be replaced by a new system of
government. The Russian and Soviet governments contain vastly different political systems and
ideologies, but the performance of power by the leaders has not changed that vastly.
Systems of Governments
Tsars ruled Russia for several hundreds of years before falling with the events of the Bolshevik
Revolution. The reign is known for the land expansions that were implemented. Peter was the first of
many Russian leaders to believe ...he did not need the church s guidance, but was directly answerable
to God... (Hoskings, 37). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nonetheless, a major ideology is the right for the people to have elections to elect their government
officials.
The Authoritarian reign began with the appointment and election of Vladimir Putin and continues until
the present, as he is still in power. Putin uses the ideologies of power, whether in the military sphere,
the political field or the financial world.
Performance of Power
Peter the Great displayed his power in many different ways throughout his reign. He hosted a grand
advent, which would replace his coronation, to celebrate his victory at Azov. His coronation occurred
when he was ten years old; this advent celebrating the Crimean Tatars defeat was the first real outing
of his reign. Later, staged battles that displayed Peter working his way up through the ranks; paintings
and engravings were made to commemorate his victories, often referring to himself and Russia as a
whole as various Roman gods and goddesses. These displays were a way for Peter to display his
dominance to his people throughout his empire, given that there was no modern technology in his
time.
Stalin performed his power in a slightly different way as there was quicker communication systems in
place compared to Peter s time. His charisma and control of the major newspapers led to a cult being
formed with Stalin at the head. This cult prevented uprisings and the population s moral higher. He

A Streetcar Named Desire Light Essay
In both The Glass Menagerie and A Streetcar Named Desire, Tennessee Williams makes use of very
specific light cues. In his works, Williams uses lighting to declare relationships, portray moods, and
connect with the audience. Tennessee Williams uses light in The Glass Menagerie and A Streetcar
Named Desire to make the audience feel the characteristics of Blanche, Laura, and Stanley, the
relationships between characters, and to show that The Glass Menagerie is a memory play.
Throughout A Streetcar Named Desire, Blanche portrays herself as a women who is not confident
enough to show who she really is. Blanche cannot stand the presence of a bare light bulb, therefore
she covers it with a paper lantern. In fact, this references to the stage ... Show more content on

In fact, he rips the paper lantern off of the light to show truth and reality about Blanche. Stanley states
to Blanche, you cover the light bulb with a paper lantern, and lo and behold the place has turned into
Egypt and you are the Queen of the Nile, (Williams A Streetcar Named Desire 158). He is basically
stating that Blanche tries to transform herself to a better state, hiding behind one big lie by using the
paper lantern, and when he uncovers the light bulb, he is revealing the truth. When Stanley talks about
his physical interactions with women, he uses the reference of getting the colored lights going,
(Williams A Streetcar Named Desire 133). To add, by Stanley stating, When we first met, me and you,
you thought I was common...You showed me the snapshot of the place with the columns. I pulled you
down off them columns and how you loved it, having them colored lights going! (Williams A Streetcar
Named Desire 137), he is telling Stella that before he became part of Stella s life she was like Blanche,
trying to change what she wanted. However, Stanley, with his physical interactions, shows her reality
(Shvey 69). Stanley, through the use and reference of light, is seen as a realist and negative

The Epidemic Of Childhood Obesity
The epidemic of childhood obesity Childhood obesity is an important issue because of this diseases
impact over the past few years. With the changing of lifestyles, the production of children who are not
as healthy as they should be has increased. Due to these results, a widespread of children being obese
has occurred. The Center for Disease Control, CDC, distinguishes between being overweight and
being obese. Overweight simply means that the weight is high compared to others in the same height
category. According to the CDC, obesity means an excessively high amount of body fat . . . in relation
to lean body mass (CDC). There are so many factors of childhood obesity. Some might say it s the
parent and some might say that it s from advertisements. Childhood obesity can be a combination of
factors scientific, genetic, cultural, or even environmental. The debate over childhood obesity and its
factors has been going on for decades. The CDC estimated that around one out of three children are
obese and the numbers are on the rise. Obesity affects around seventeen percent of children in the
United States. There are many other factors that can cause children to be obese like no exercise, eating
junk food, being lazy, also the child s surrounding can affect them. Some people may argue that the
lifestyle changes are bigger contributions to the rising number of childhood obesity. There are many
serious diseases that can a result from being obese. Although advertisements targeted

Corruption Of Prisoners In Plato s Arguments Of Democracy
In a dark cave there are prisoners, restricted to seeing what shadows puppeteers cast upon the stone
screen in front of them. This timeless story by Plato, used as a metaphor for those that are, to the
philosopher Plato, lowbrows, and have no desire to question what is around them and find the truth
and embrace ignorance. I have experienced this first hand, being an exemplification of what it means
to not question what I have faith in, or seek more. However, I have also experienced what it is to be
the prisoner that turns his head, as well as the prisoner that turns the other cheek.
When Plato was writing this dialogue, his goal was to show those in the metaphorical cave, how daft
and short sided he believes them to be. When Plato articulates the puppeteers through the voice of
Socrates, he says, ...and between the fire and the prisoners there is a raised ... Show more content on

Currently, I believe our nation s voters are in a bad state, to quote Winston Churchill, The best
argument against democracy is a five minute conversation with the average voter. I believe you can
apply these words to show how corrupt the average voter is. Today, the prisoners in the cave are those
that vote according to social standards, and support whatever is generally accepted as just. Those that
turn their heads are those that vote and mold their beliefs to reflect the word of God through Jesus
Christ. 11 score and 19 years ago, the founding fathers turned their heads from the Europe and created
a great nation following these beliefs. As said by Os Guinness, Beyond any question, the way the
American founders consistently linked faith and freedom, republicanism and religion, was not only
deliberate and thoughtful, it was also surprising and anything but routine. When Americans as a whole

Keeping Cool On The Hot Seat Analysis
Chapters eighteen through thirty six in Keeping Cool on the Hot Seat by author Judith Hoffman
discusses preparing for and recovering from the press. Getting the correct informational statements out
to the media in a timely and accurate fashion is important to any Crisis Management Team; and being
prepared for any forum of public speaking is vital as one only gets one chance to make a first
impression. In order to begin preparation, it is recommended by Hoffman to begin with brainstorming
to come up with the any and all possible questions that the press corps could possibly ask. Having the
answers to questions goes a lot further with one s credibility than the answer I don t know. Some of
the methods of brainstorming can include: historical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Answer the question: use the advice provided earlier to formulate a clear, concise, positive answer,
with a quotable sound bite . (Hoffman 2011, 145). And Make your point bridging to a must air
comment/message. Every question posed can provide the spokesperson with an opportunity to
reinforce the major points. Some of the other themes that the author points out include, if it is a false
assertion, correct it; confusing questions should be clarified, but be careful not to keep asking for a
question to be restated, this will make the spokesperson look incompetent. Don t let the reporter put
your words into another meaning so what you are saying... is a common pitfall to avoid. The reporter
is never off the record when a journalist gets a hold of a piece of information that could stimulate the
general public, suddenly the record was never off in the first place. Going back to the ten Cs , calm is
one of the most important when talking with the press. Nothing grabs headlines like Donald Trump

The Yarra Valley is the oldest wine region in Victoria, located in the north east of Melbourne and just
over an hour drive from Melbourne CBD. The name of the Yarra Valley was given from the region
that is surrounding the Yarra River, which runs and originates for approximately 90 kilometres east of
Melbourne s business district and towards one of Victoria s famous tourist attractions, Port Phillip
Bay. The valley covers a very large area consisting of Yarra Ranges National Park located in the east
and Kinglake National Park which is located in the west. The valley further consists of many towns

Reflection On Teaching Style
Furthermore, as I read the assigned articles and viewed videos, I realized that my teachers obviously,
followed Piaget s, Vygotsky. Dewey, and Bruner constructivist view because they used the theory of
assimilation and accommodation, e.g., the learning of a new experience and changing of a person s
worldview. I also discovered after deep reflection on this week s assignment, how much of an impact
my teachers had on my teaching style. Before retiring, I taught based on what my students needed.
Therefore, much of my teaching mixed the theories of, Constructivism, Social Constructivism and
Cognitive Behavioral depending on the student. In fact, I realized, as I continued to read, my teachers
did a lot of modeling and demonstrations on completing a task. In addition, they had the ability to
adjust learning to their students learning need and style, even though learning styles were not part of
the system yet (Hamond et al., n.d.). Therefore, much of my teaching mimics how I learned from
those teachers. I believe in guiding my students toward discovery on their own; therefore, my lessons
were thought out, so they encompassed each student s learning style. I taught 6th grade social studies,
not an exhilarating course to garner excitement. However, the use of modeling, multiple intelligences,
scaffolding, and differentiated learning I feel greatly enhanced learning. As a matter of fact, according
to Coffey (2013), research showed an effective strategy of instruction is modeling

Alfred Hitchcock s Vertigo
Often times, throughout many of Alfred Hitchcock films, I find myself very intrigued to the
development of how the story unfolds. The difference between Vertigo (1958) and the other films that
we have watched, is that this film has more unanswered questions and a darker meaning. Personally, I
did not really like how the story of Vertigo was filmed. And of course this is just my own opinion,
which can be argued based on your own experience with the film. For instance, throughout the
majority of the film, all we see is John Scottie Ferguson (James Stewart), follow Madeleine Elster
(Kim Novak) all around the San Francisco area. For me this repetitive act of scenes caused me to
unconsciously drift away. Although, I did enjoy the pure cinema ... Show more content on

Some of the major forms of experimentation that I noticed throughout the film was in the lighting,
camera shots, and movement. A perfect example where Hitchcock experimented with cinematography
of lighting within a scene was inside the Empire hotel. Hitchcock really played a lot with the colors of
the neon light coming into Judy Barton s (Kim Novak) hotel room. A more specific scene of his
intense use of lighting was when Scottie transforms Judy into Madeleine. In fact, Alfred Hitchcock,
really felt that the lighting was very important aspect that helped shape the meaning of the scene.
According to Vertigo s screenwriter, Samuel Taylor, he mentioned that Hitchcock never really liked to
see the story in a full view. Instead Hitchcock was more focused on viewing each scene like a mosaic.
In order to view the full story, he believed he had to first complete each part of the mosaic. Hitchcock
creates each scene as a form of artwork. As seen in several scenes throughout Vertigo, we clearly see
how he creates scenes by focusing on every aspect of cinematography to tell a deeper sinister narrative
through each characters. An exaggerated and personally one of my favorite scenes within Vertigo s
cinematography was based on the lighting and special effects used in Scotty s nightmare scene. I can
imagine how

The Importance Of Bicycle And Helmet Safety
People ride bikes for various reasons. Some people ride bikes for fitness purposes, some ride bikes to
get from place to place, and some ride bikes to clear their mind after having a long day. Whether you
ride for fun or for sport it is important to know the factors that go into bicycle and helmet safety. A
study in 2014 shows that 103.7 million people rode a bike that year and 34 percent of Americans age
three or older rode a bike at least once in that year ( Study: 103.7 Million Americans Ride Bikes ). The
importance of bicycle safety cannot be underestimated. According to the 2008 Alabama Traffic Crash
Facts, there were 182 bicycle crash injuries and four fatalities. In 2008, children 14 and under
accounted for 27% of the bicycle crash injuries. Bicycle helmets are 85% 88% effective in preventing
head and brain injuries; however, only 20% 25% of all bicyclists wear bicycle helmets ( Bicycle
Safety ). One of the first factors that go into bicycle and helmet safety is learning how to ride a bike.
Many people learn how to ride a bike when they are four or five years old and some do not learn until
they are older (Donaldson). Learning how to ride a bike is the first and most important step because
without knowing how to ride a bike you will not know what type of bike you will need.
The first step when learning how to ride a bike is to make sure you are in a suitable location. Starting
off on grass or smooth gravel helps since falls there hurt less. These surfaces make

Sociological Explanations Of Social Status
Social status is the position of a person or family, within the society. A person can earn their social
status by their own achievements, which is known as achieved status, which can be achieved through
education, occupation or marital status. Alternatively; your social class would be based on sex, age,
race, family relationships, or birth which is known as ascribed status. People of the UK now fit into
seven social classes, which research conducted by the BBC suggest; More than 161,000 people took
part in the Great British Class Survey, the largest study of class in the UK. (BBC, 2013)

Our social class or the way we act tend to affect the ways in which we are treated by teachers; by the
police; by friends; by employers; by sexual partners; and by many others in society. When people treat
others differently cause of their class, this is form of a personal discrimination or stereotyping and is
done without getting to know a person first. It can also take the form of structural discrimination as
explained by D, HILL Taking place on a systematic, repetitive, embedded nature within particular
social structures such as schooling, housing, employment, credit agencies. (Hill, 2016) Social class is
argued to influence a child or a young person education because the people who are in a lower social
status are not able to afford private education. Private education is thought to be better for a child, as it
has far fewer pupils in each class compared to local authority schools. Higher education is also harder
for a child that is not from a higher social status family, as poorer families that need the extra money
or have seen their child benefits cut due to the child reaching the age of 18 tend to feel pushed to go
from education straight to paid work. There were 3.9 million children living in poverty in the UK in
2014 15, that s 9 children in a classroom of 30. (2016, 2000) Or they do not do as well in higher
education because to afford to live, they still need to earn money while studying. Higher education is
the key path to a better paid occupation and if not able to attend due to worries like money, childcare
or your school test results it will be a lot harder to find above minimum wage

Chemotherapy Research Papers
Researchers at the Purdue University developed a new technology that simulates chemical process and
reaction of tumors with chemotherapy drugs. It is a possible tool for screening anticancer drugs before
approving them for treatment.
There are many different types of chemotherapy drugs, so clinicians may be able to narrow down
which ones are likely to be more effective than others. Successful drug delivery and overcoming drug
resistance are the primary clinical challenges for management and treatment of cancer. To address this
problem, we developed the tumor microenvironment on chip (T MOC), said Bumsoo Han, a professor
of mechanical and biomedical engineering at Purdue University.
The new microfluidic device has a size of 4.5 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The study will continue to test other types of cancers, such as pancreatic and prostate cancers.
This confirms T MOC s predictive ability for in vivo drug response. This initial characterization of T
MOC indicates its transformative potential for testing drug effectiveness, said Han.
Drug Resistance Evolution of Cancer Cells
Cancer cells developed methods to avoid anticancer drugs from killing them. These methods can stop
medicinal effects of chemotherapy and even cytotoxic agents that kill any cells indiscriminately. Bill
Murray, a retired major league baseball administrator, diagnosed with melanoma endured three
separated courses of a new class of immunotherapy to treat the disease.
In 2011, Murray was first given a peptide based vaccine and a monoclonal antibody called nivolumab.
Nivolumab targets the programmed cell death protein 1 displayed on the surface of T cells, a type of
lymphocyte white blood cell. PD 1 works as a signal receptor on activated T cells that packs down T
cell activity after detecting its counterpart, PD L1 on the surface of tumor cells. The nivolumab was
intended to block PD L1 and allow Murray s T cells to fight cancer.
Unfortunately, the treatment did not work and Murray had to be given a new antibody called
ipilimumab. It binds cytotoxic T lymphocyte associated protein 4 expressed by PD 1 T cells. The
ipilimumab allowed Murray s immune system via T cell offensive to combat cancer.
But five years later,

Parenting Styles Essay
When my first child was born I there was considerable interest in Mozart CDs. These Cd s were
marketed with the promise that playing them would enrich the intellectual and creative development
of my child. Behind the popularity of selling products on such an idea is an unfortunate theme:
Parenting can be done quickly and with little inconvenience. The reality is that good parenting does
not require classical music, but instead time and effort. As children grow from infancy into
adolescence the role of parenting broadens. How parents react to their child s actions communicates a
standard of appropriate and inappropriate behavior that are fulfilled with varying degrees of conscious
awareness. There are two major dimensions that underline ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

What are the differences between children who have parents that show little affection when compared
to those who liberally hug and kiss? Does it matter if some parents are strict while others are lax?
Does it make a difference if some parents spank their children while others go on in seemingly
endlessly discussions? As my son once said to his older brother, Just say you understand so he ll shut
up. Diana Baumrind (1966, 1967, 1978) decided to find out the answers to those questions by
determining what effect parenting styles, as interactions between the two dimensions of parental
acceptance and control, had on children s social and intellectual competence. To start with, Baumrind
identified four distinct parenting styles: neglectful, permissive, authoritarian, and authoritative.
Neglectful parenting is a style in which the parent is very uninvolved in the child s life. These parents
seem to focus more on their own lives and are not particularly involved with or supportive of their
children. They appear to be detached from the child and provide only for their basic physical and
emotional needs and not much else. They offer little or no help with homework, provide minimal
supervision, and spend little time together. Permissive (or indulgent) parents are responsive and
accepting. They make few demands of their children, indulge their children s desires, and use little
punishment. They allow their children free expression of impulses and set few

emotions. According to an online article titled How to recognize and deal with anger Anger is a
negative feeling state that is typically associated with hostile thoughts, physiological arousal and
maladaptive behaviors to hostile thought . Anger results from restriction imposed against man s

The Government As An Intermediate Agency
The government is an intermediate agency which has the main, though by no means the exclusive,
responsibility for society s adherence to the principles which favour increased autonomy and respect
for people s choices.
When one thinks about the work of governments throughout history, they look like extremely
obnoxious, or at least dangerous, artefacts, for which the need, and, consequently, the conditions and
limits, require moral justification. The mere fact that the government prescribes something to us does
not morally justify our doing it (though it may prudentially justify it, and therefore, in some cases it
may morally excuse it). The decision to obey a government must be an autonomous one one that, like
any decision which can affect other people, we should justify on the basis of a freely accepted moral
principle. But if this is so, to what extent are we really obeying the government and not simply
governing ourselves? And if the moral person always governs himself, what, for him, is the moral
relevance of having a government (besides solving co ordination problems or altering the factual
setting)?
The era of wars and terrorism was followed by segregation, racial sub ordination, and complacence.
One report written by senior civil servants in 1934 for the Department of Health actually suggested
that the eugenics policies of the Nazi Germany should be adopted in the UK. In 1927 Westminster
passed the Mental Deficiency Act giving the authorities wide powers to detain

The Characteristics Of Robert Walton s Frankenstein
In the first few letters, opening the book, readers are introduced to the writer, Robert Walton, a sailor
with hopes of discovery. While addressing his letters to his sister, readers are able to follow Waltons
oceanic journey to the Arctic. In his letters he speaks of this journey, what ushers his passion to learn,
the story of his upbringing and his desire for a companion. Readers can see that he is not only driven,
and curious, but empathetic and lonesome as well.
Upon reading these quotes, it soon becomes clear that Frankenstein has a longing to retain
information. He is able to portray this educational longing through phrases such as having an eager
desire to learn, key word being eager. Frankenstein and I somewhat differ on our attitude towards
learning. I wish I was as motivated as he, but I lack the desire that steers him. I do desire education,
but just not to the extent that Frankenstein does. Not only does Frankenstein speak of having access to
a routine education, such as a school, but he also speaks of his ability to self teach himself. In order to
do so, he must have an immense amount of maturity and an ample amount of both independence and
self sufficiency. I only wish that I had these characteristics as strong as he.

The Struggle Between Social Class In The Creature And...
The creature and Victor Frankenstein. Similar to how Marxist theory observes the remarkable struggle
between social classes, the interactions between said characters, and their struggles, are put on display
by Shelly. The exchanges between different characters (or social classes) can be explained by Marx s
Communist Manifesto which states that two classes, one being the owners of production named the
bourgeoisie and the workers or the proletariat (Montag 386). In this situation Victor can be compared
to the bourgeoisie while the creation can be represented by the proletariat. In Frankenstein, a similar
dynamic arises within the relationship between Victor and his creation as a definitive struggle rises
between the two characters. After the successful birth of the monster Victor enjoys the reaps of his
labor and establishes his power effectively exerting control over the lower class or, in this case, his
creation. Throughout this evolution, Shelly depicts the relationship between the monster and
Frankenstein with Shelly depicts the Marxist evaluation of capitalism. Later on, when Victor becomes
enslaved by the horror of his creation, similar Marxist theory is displayed through what is defined as
the products of labor. As a result of this, the monster becomes powerful and rebels against Victor, or
his creator, who he describes as incompatible. This power struggle represents the struggle between the
upper and lower classes, or, the bourgeoisie and the proletariat. At

We can observe that European Union is using the same symbols as any other country to build a

International Human Resource Management Practices
International human resource management (IHRM) is the study and application of all human resource
management activities as they impact the process of managing human resources in enterprises in the
global environment (Briscoe, Schuler Tarique, 2012). This part is very important in order to make sure
that all problems at global level can be solved. Our economies in the last 50 years have become more
integrated than before. There are a lot of factors that contributed to the achievement such as
multinational enterprise (MNE), small and medium sized enterprises (MSEs), and non governmental
organizations (NGOs).
Despite the fact that human resource management outwardly appears to be a relatively neutral
management term, the language used to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2 Differences between countries in terms of their cultures and institutions
The first issue that we are going to discuss is about the differences between countries in terms of their
cultures and institutions. Culture is the characteristic way of behaving and believing that a group of
people have developed over time and share in common (Briscoe, Schuler Tarique, 2012). Whilst
globalization is undoubtedly an important aspect of economic activity, it is less significant in its scale
and consequences than some enthusiasts claim (Scholte, 2005). Further, the ways in which the
international management coordination of economic activities is developing reflect established
patterns of economic globalization and competition at national level, such that these structure any
emergent properties of a new transnational business system (Dicken, 2007). So, in this section we are
going to explain evidently the scope of country differences more predominantly. We will divide it into
two perspectives, which are cultural perspectives and institutional perspectives which developed by
Geert Hofstede and Fons Trompenaars.
2.1 Cultural Perspectives by Geert Hofstede
Hofstede defines culture as the collective programming of the mind which distinguishes the members
of one group or category of people from another (Rees Edwards, 2011). There are five dimensions
proposes by Hofstede which are power distance, uncertainty avoidance,

Imperial System Of Han China During The Yongzheng Period...
Autocracy in Qing China During The Yongzheng Period In Jonathan D. Spence s book, Treason By
The Book, we are introduced to Qing China during the rule of the Yongzheng Emperor who, during
his reign, must investigate a scandal involving dissident, rogue scholars who threaten the Chinese
imperial system. The imperial system revolves entirely around the emperor who must rule
benevolently, and as an autocrat. As is typical of an autocrat, the Emperor rules by divine right, and as
a result has no checks on his power by law or citizenry, contains some elements of arbitrariness such
as cronyism, nepotism and overruling officials based on what comes down to emotion, and has a vast
bureaucracy capable of tracking down and interrogating anyone accused of being a dissident,
including other officials. Therefore, despite Emperor Yongzheng s noble attitudes and ideas, evidence
within Treason By The Book shows that Yongzheng is unequivocally an autocrat, because he fits all
the previously listed criteria. When looking at what made Emperor Yongzheng an autocrat, it s
important to look at the tactics implemented by the emperor to ensure cooperation and to crack down
on any resistance or potential plots against him. During the first few pages of Treason By The Book,
we are introduced to first instance of the very efficient and meticulous world of bureaucratic spy
campaigns and information gathering authorities when the Emperor sends an official from the
Ministry of Punishments to gather

In about 1852 the Borough of Green Bay purchased a portion of a lot on the east side of South
Washington Street just south of Walnut Street. That site is currently the southern end of the Backstage
at the Meyer. To promote a permanent fire department, the borough built a two story wooden engine
house there and obtained a new hand pumper fire engine. A new fire company (named Alert) formed,
but ceased operations within two years, as had two previous fire companies in 1841 and 1847.
Following three devastating fires from November 1853 through December 1854, a group of
immigrants organized themselves as Germania Fire Company No. 1. The common council gave them
possession of the engine house on South Washington and the hand pumper fire engine.

The Parthenon of Athens was the temple of Athena Parthenos, known as the Greek goddess of
wisdom, and was built in the 5th century BC. According to Silverman (n.d.), this Doric peripteral
temple was built on the Acropolis in Athens to replace two earlier temples of Athena that were
destroyed by the Persians. The style of the Parthenon denotes clear Doric design. It has rectangular
base dimensions of 69.5 by 30.9 meters with low steps along each side and a cella length of 29.8
meters and 19.2 meters in width. The Parthenon has internal two tiered Doric colonnades and exterior
columns in peripheral format that measure 1.9 meters in diameter and 10.4 meters in height. Eight
columns are located at the façade with seventeen on the opposing sides. Six columns denote the front
and back portico. The cella of the structure housed the statue of Athena Parthenos dressed in armor
and holding Nike, the goddess of victory to the Athenian people, in her right hand. 23 Doric columns

John Oliver Rhetorical Analysis
Using Theories to Assess Improve Messaging: John Oliver and the New York Yankees Analyzing
communication messages through late night shows varies. Mixing humor with specific news stories
provides an interesting message, depending on the audience. Last Week Tonight With John Oliver uses

his segment on the New York Yankees, where he makes it very clear which position he is taking on the

response toward John Oliver s offer is extremely positive, and resonates with the audience as a result.
In order to make Oliver s use of pathos effective is to have effective uses of logos and ethos. However,
Oliver relies more on logos than ethos in this segment. In each of his shows, Oliver backs up his
claims by showing studies and news stories relating back to his argument. His segment on the New
York Yankees is no different, as he uses a variety of different sources. For example, when explaining
the Yankees elitist policies, Oliver shows a commercial for the New York Yankees Legends Club,
which is for wealthy season ticket holders. By using this source, he backs up his claim on how elitist
the Yankees are when compared to other sports teams. Oliver s use of the three artistic proofs was
overall very effective and funny, which is especially important towards his audience. The show s
media spectrum falls mainly on the Internet, where about 94% of Oliver s demographic watches his
show, while the audience s top interests are entertainment, media, famous people and societal issues.
When looking at audience demographics, John Oliver is generally doing an excellent job of using an

The Importance Of Play With Toys
With the amount of time children spend playing with toys, every parent or legal guardian of a child
should be more prudent with the toys their children to play with. Playing is important to children. Play
is one of the main ways children learn and toys are tools that help encourage that. Play with toys is
extremely beneficial in ways people fail to realize. For example toys help teach motor skills and social
skills and help them build creativity and exercise their muscles. Creativity in children is also
developed during play. Children who get time off other duties to play become more attentive
especially in their schoolwork. Leaving children to initiate their own kind of games, gives them room
to become more creative as opposed to when they are supervised by an adult (Goldstein, 2012, p.13).
The toys children play with affect their own interests and skills as a person during childhood, which
influences their characteristics as a person in adulthood. First and foremost, play is essential to a child
s development. Play is so important to optimal child development that it has been recognized by the
United Nations High Commission for Human Rights as a right of every child (Play and Childrens,
n.d.). Believe it or not play has been proven to be extremely beneficial for children of all ages. It
contributes to the cognitive, physical, social and emotional well being of the child (Ginsburg, 2007, ).
Play lets children exercise their creativity while developing their

Porcini s Inc., a high quality Italian cuisine in most of North Eastern US region, operates a chain of 23
full service restaurants. It is known for its excellent service and high quality food. However, Porcini is
currently experiencing a stagnation with low growth rate. As a result, its management is considering to

of issues attached to this notion. The restaurant has very limited access to capital. Also, not a lot of

What Every American Should Know By Eric Liu
Interpretative essay
What every American should know by Eric Liu thoroughly examines the issue of cultural literacy and
its place in modern America. It takes on a convincing argument against E.D. Hirsch s book on the
same which included some 5000 things that he thought define cultural literacy and every American
should know. Liu argues that America has changed over time, becoming more multicultural, and to
capture the cultural literacy of the country, no one person should sit down and come up with what they
think everyone else should know. Instead he suggests that in order to capture the view of the nation,
every American should be involved in the making of the list. The most engaging part of this article is
Liu s idea that this new list that is crowd sourced should always change according to the times. It
should not be cast in stone because things in this day and age change really fast; what is a hit this
month will be old news in the next one. This is what cultural literacy really is; keeping up with what is
going on around you and being open to learn new things as they emerge. This can also be said of
education; in order to stay educated in any field, you have to be in the know of in terms of new
developments.
The conversation and debates on cultural literacy should continue in every place in America since it
helps us to understand and be tolerant of other cultures around us (Gay 2010). When we are familiar
with all or some of the things that define America as a culture,

America Is A Society That More Than A Little Bit Of...
America has become a society that more or less runs online. The Internet is where we do our
shopping, our reading, where we interact with others, both socially and romantically, and where the
average American spends a large amount of time. In 2013, it was reported that the average American
adult would spend three hours a day on social media and networking sites talking to others and
playing games (Staff, 2013). These sites know everything about us, our birthday, age, gender, political
standing, what music we like, what stores we shop at. In this type of digital environment, nothing that
is private remains so for long, especially for prominent figures, like celebrities, movie stars, and
political figures. Congressman Anthony Weiner found this out not too long ago when one of his
private messages was broadcast publicly via Twitter, creating a snowball effect that all but ended his
Congressional career. We as a society like nothing better than a little bit of political scandal.
In May of 2011, a risque photo of Democratic Congressman, Anthony Weiner, appeared for a short
period of time on the man s Twitter account before begin hastily removed by the man s public
relations representative. The photo and incident were later reported and described to the public by
Conservative blogger Andrew Breitbart, causing the story to go viral. In response, Weiner told
reporters that a hacker had gotten into his account and posted the photo as a farce and even went as far

I Am A Youth Counselor

was all he could afford without asking Booker for money, and he loathed asking Booker for money. It

While it was still a long way in the future, he hoped that one day, he could become a youth counselor.
It was his dream to help those who were addicted to drugs find a new path in life, and he hoped his
stint in prison would not hinder his ambition. He honestly believed he had a role to play in helping
those who had lost their way. It was his destiny and if he could prevent one other person from ruining
their life the way he had ruined his, then the last three years would have been worth all the pain.
Although his transformation had been painfully slow, he finally felt as though he had a purpose in a
world full of uncertainty. He had a clear vision for the future, but most importantly, he was slowly but
surely, finding Tom Hanson. Therefore, as he stood outside of Judy s

Abstract: The purpose of this lab was to synthesize triphenylmethanol from benzophenone and
bromobenzene by the formation of a Grignard compound with the reagents bromobenzene and
magnesium metal. The bromobenzene was first transformed into the Grignard compound and was then
reacted with the benzophenone to make the final product. The mixture was then mixed with sulfuric

Chronic Illness Concept Paper
According to The Public Health Agency of Canada (2013), mental illness is described as a
modification in an individual s mood, behaviour, and thinking process which is associated with
significant distress and impaired mental function. This paper will aim to discuss the information taken
from two home visits and using it to determine its effect on the family as a unit. My single concept
that is relevant to the family s experience is the family s bond throughout the clients challenge with
bipolar disorder (BPD). In this case, the chronic disease known as bipolar disorder (also known as
manic depression) are known as mood swings that can last up to days, weeks, or even months. They
are generally caused by environmental pressures that surround the individual on a daily basis such as
family, work, and social environmental pressures, stress, injury, and/or illness (PHAC, 2009). When a
family member is effected by any chronic illness, there is a great impact on the other members of the
family. Chronic illnesses can have an extremely stressful effect on individuals that are trying to adapt
to these changes, which can also shape the families way of coping with the situation as well (Dobbie
Mellor, 2008).

Jap A Country And The Links That Australia
As John Howard stated in 2006, Australia has no greater friend in Asia than Japan. This article will
give an overview of Japan as a country and the links that Australia has with this country, whether it be
through culture, defence and military, tourism, trade or sport. It will also look into historical events
that sparked these links and how these relationships were formed and strengthened. Finally, it will go
into how these links have changed the way we see Japan, and how these links have changed Australia
to what we know it as today.
Between the Sea of Japan and the North Pacific in North eastern Asia lies Japan. Japan is a country
made up of 6,852 islands, with four main islands, and is home to a population of over 126 million. The
majority of the population speak Japanese and the main religious groups include: Shintoism,

corporate social responsibilities. The corporate social responsibility will play a significant role in the
development of the Micawber Capital for the reason that without CSR the companies did not survive.
I will also recommend to Micawber that improve the human resource management department for the
reason that without the improvement and excellent working of the HRM the organization did not
survive. The Micawber must keep in mind the culture of the India for the without recognizing the
culture did not able to work.
Body
As mentioned in case that I have been hired as a consultant to the senior director at Micawber Capital,
one of India s largest microfinance organizations. As also mentioned in the case that my fundamental
task is to recommend a corporate structure and organization is for Micawber. It is a pleasure to me for
work as a consultant of Micawber Capital for the reason that in this way I can recommend various
strategies to solve the issues. According to my point of the corporate

Of Mice And Men Movie And Book Comparison
John Steinbeck s Of Mice and Men shows the struggle of human loneliness and pursuing dreams and
freedom. It is fueled by fear of past failure and be labeled as outcasts or fear of what defines them.
In the book it is the same concept. The character in the book were as believable in the book as they
were in the movie, and quite frankly the exact same as I pictured so I give the author props for that.
The actors portrayed the novel s characters to a tee and when I saw them it was like I had watched the
movie first and then read the book and already had them in my mind. The author hit the nail on the
head with his interpretation of the books character. The main character s development throughout the
story was both dynamic and static. Lennie ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main antagonists that viewers could clearly point out would be Curley, Curley s Wife, fear of
being alone, and fear of unaccomplished dreams. Also a minor character in the story that played a big
role was Carlson. He shot Candy s dog which was a foreshadowing of what was to come. That same
pistol shot Lennie. It was an important event that Carlson shot the dog because when he is done he
cleans the gun which shows that when George and Lennie watch they will know where to find it also.
Carlson also mentions that he will shoot the dog in the back of the head and that it is a humane way of
killing the dog and it won t even quiver . George remembers this when he has to shoot Lennie and
what a coincidence he shot him in the back of the head. Carlson is more important than you think.
A character that dramatically was different in the movie than in my imagination when we read the
book was Lennie. He was portrayed by John Malkovich and I wouldn t have chosen him because he
was way older than I would have imagined Lennie. The change in that wouldn t have been a big
controversy at all and it wasn t a big change either and I believe it would be argued a good or bad
decision either. All in all the movie was a good movie. They did not have many changes to the plot or
viewer s perception of the characters. The novel and book also go hand in hand in the symbolism and
theme of the novel. I believe John Steinbeck hit the nail on the head with this book and Gary Sinise
did good on following up and making a great

H R Block Performance Management Best Practices
H R Block Performance Management Best Practices
During the time that I spent in labor force I was able to work with numerous of people in various
fields of work. When I first read this assignment, I knew exactly who I wanted to interview. Indeed,
out of all the people I ve worked alongside with, none made an impression on me quite as much as my
former manager Maria from H R Block. Her commitment, friendliness and work ethic were nothing
short of extraordinary. She was the first and only thought that came into my mind when I thought of
who to interview for this assignment.
The first question I asked Maria had to deal with her duration at H R Block. Indeed, she had been with
the company for ten years and had become the manager of the ... Show more content on

She was so well liked that clients would come from cities 100 miles away just to get their returns
prepared by Maria.
Despite the fact that H R Block is the biggest tax firm in the world, it still has many venues for
growth. In my interview with Maria, she mentioned to me that many people are off put by H R Block
due to the high prices. Other tax preparation firms charge anywhere from $50 $300 for a return while
H R Block charges range from $50 $700 returns. This staggering price range is the reason why many
people will risk doing their taxes with smaller and less organized firms rather than H R Block. The
reason why H R Block sets their price so high is because it backs each return with audit protection and
demands that the preparer checks every return carefully before being sent to the IRS. Maria claimed
that if more customers knew about the unparalleled quality of H R Block s guarantees, as well as the
danger and stress of an IRS audit, many more people would do their returns at H R Block instead of at
a cheap and risky unofficial stores . In order to solve this issue, Maria told me that she was trying to
emphasize the company s guarantees to the marketing team so they could make commercials and
brochures advertising this fact of H R Block. Americans need to consider the face that H R Block is
the largest tax preparation firm in the country. However, as Maria puts it: There is always room for

Ronald M Green Genetic Engineering
Genetic engineering is a process that has been dreamed of for generations by the most ambitious of
scientists. With current science making this once far off dream a reality, two men were quick to throw
their opinions into the air, making their stance clear on the subject. In Building Baby from Genes Up
Ronald M. Green encourages people to embrace the inevitable benefits that genetic modification will
shower upon the world. Contrasting this article is the more reserved Richard Hayes with Genetically
Modified Humans? No Thanks , in which he warns of the harm it will undoubtedly bring to humanity.
While the two stand on opposite sides of the fence, it can be agreed upon by both authors that genetic
modification could change the world with it s ability to eliminate disease. New human genetic
technologies have real potential to help prevent or cure many terrible diseases (Hayes, 500) states
Hayes, as he supports genetic modification through this service. Green, the advocate for the process, is
quick to provide examples of how the practice could improve the lives of future children. If we
understood the genetic causes of obesity, for example, we can intervene by means of embryo selection
to produce a child with reduced likelihood of getting fat (Green, 496).
The mindsets of Green and Hayes in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hayes warns of a world where if misapplied, they would exacerbate existing inequalities and reinforce
existing modes of discrimination (Hayes, 500). The tenacious Green admits to the faults genetic
interference can cause, recognizing that ...the social effects of genetics are worrisome. The risks of
producing a genobility, genetic overlooks ruling a vast genetic underclass, are real

Hein-Rich Spencer s Greatest Invention
Are mistakes key to discoveries yes, because always in human history great inventions have always
been discovered by accident. For example, one day a man named Percy spencer had helped change
our kitchens forever when he brought a piece of chocolate into a factory and dropped it onto the floor,
and after it melted he had discovered how to make an invention that would change the world and help
make cooking easier therefore he had made a company that would help him make a device that would
mimic the effects of the chocolate bar against the factory floor, but only after 20 years he had finally
perfected the effects of the heat against the chocolate bar on the factory floor and he called it the
microwave. And it was the most useful invention of its time. The man who was first to make a
machine who had helped to make communication easier for everyone and changed the world by

Describe the three dedicated circuit network architectures discussed in the textbook. Explain the
strengths and weaknesses of each. Ring Architecture. Has a closed loop with all PC s linked to the
next one. Circuits are full duplex or half duplex, which allows messaging in both directions around the
ring. The fall back is the time in which message can take to travel around the ring from the sender to a
receiver, since the messages have to pass through several different computers and circuits, concluding
in traffic delays which can pile up quickly. Star Architecture connects all the PCs to a central PC
which acts as the message router to an appropriate PC. It s easier to manage because of the central PC
receiving and routing all the messages in the desired network. This allows the communication to be
faster than ring architecture since it only travels through two circuits to reach the receiver. However,
having only one central pc can create more problems since its in change of all the messages on the
network. This creates room for overload in traffic and could potentially decrease performance overall.
Mesh Architecture has every PC connected to very other PC. This is a Full mesh network, and it s
biggest downfall is the high price. However, partial mesh most PC, but not all are connected to each
other. Although it combines star and ring, if

glamour of soccer. Teams spent a lot of money to buy new players; however, it won t work out all the
time unless the boss is Jose Mourinho. He is considered as the best manager in Europe by many
people or even some say he is the best in the history of soccer. His track record is very impressive.
Since his career began in Barcelona 13 years ago, he won 2 champions league, 1 UEFA super cup,
seven league titles and 10 other trophies with four different European clubs. The first year he came to
London the team won the premier league after 5 decades with an incredible performance. Why do I

My Statement Of Purpose For Computer Engineering
...life can be much broder once you discover one simple fact: Everything around you that you call life
was made up by people that were no smarter than you. And you can change it, you can influence it.
Once you learn that, you ll never be the same again.
When I heard these words by the late Steve Jobs in a video that was just 1 minute 42 seconds long, it
left a big impact and changed the way how I looked at the world. Following closely the rivalry
between the companies Microsoft and Apple and their growths, despite each other, has fascinated me
with the world of technology. The fact that the economy and employment opportunities in the tech

employees. Combining these figures with a Forbes forecast that there s going to be an increase in
computer science employment by 19% through 2020, I see a tremendous opportunity for women in
the realm of computer science. I also believe that this field will be grow faster if it can convince the
younger generation to be a part of it as they are the ones who spend most of the time using the gadgets
and new innovations. It s the younger generation that will indubitably bring disruptive innovations and
my long term goal is to educate and encourage an entire generation of ambitious women to pursue

Supernatural Season 12
Is Supernatural season 12 taking its cancellation slip soon? Speculations surrounding the long time
running television series points to its end soon. Like they say, all good things come to an end. But is
Supernatural season 12 really going to end? There are many reports that indicate that the show is
going to be on its last run. While there are others that claim that it is going to last until it can. The CW
network authorities did explain that they are willing to continue the legacy if the boys are still up to it.
And it looks like Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki are still going strong. However, recent reports
indicate that Supernatural is slowly heading towards the opposite direction. There are many ways to

Mnemonic Vs Concept Map Study
Two strategies for helping learners process the material that would facilitate effective storage and
retrieval is concept maps and using mnemonics. The way a learner could use concept map to learn the
material about African Kingdoms and Trading States is to create a diagram of Sunni Ali as a leader
and the predecessor Askia Muhammad and how Morocco soldiers had won due to guns, technology,
and cannons. The student can also create a map as shown in the map study, to determine the trading
states by using creating his own map and legend. After using the concept map as a strategy a student
could facilitate effective storage by understanding the concept map rather than memorizing. The
second strategy a learner could use is mnemonics to remember the first and last name of the rulers and
the place they had power in. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Students are great would be a good mnemonic because it is catchy. Although there is one more ruler
after Sunni Ali using mnemonic is an effective way to facilitate storage and retrieval. For me
memorizing the name and location in history class was extremely difficult when I had taken it in high
school. After learning about these strategies it got a little bit easier and understandable. In conclusion I
believe that mnemonic and utilizing concept map is an effective way of storage and retrieval but this
may not be an effective strategy for everyone. Some learners are visual learners, auditory learners,
some write to retain information, and active learners also known as kinesthetic learners. These
methods work for certain types of

  • 2. World War I And The Treaty Of Versailles Have you ever wondered why World War II happened despite World War I being the war to end all wars? World War I lasted four years and was very gruesome. Much of the Western Front was destroyed and about 10 million people died. Germany ended the war by ceasing fire and making an armistice on November 11, 1918. The Allied Power had successfully defeated the Central Powers and America had accomplished their goal to end the war. After the surrender from Germany, the Allied Power met up to make a treaty with Germany, however, Germany was not invited to come and negotiate. The Treaty of Versailles would soon be created and it would put most of the blame of World War I on Germany. The Treaty of Versailles contributed to the onset of World War II ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There were four main leaders during the Versailles Conference and they were: Woodrow Wilson, George Clemenceau, David Lloyd George, and Vittorio Orlando. Each of them had major goals that would benefit them since the war was on their land. Vittorio Orlando, the Prime Minister of Italy, worked to get the extra land for Italy. Originally, they would not have been able to do this since Italy was originally an ally of Germany, but they switched over to the Allied Powers in 1915 and declared war on Germany. Italy was promised land as a reward for helping out and switching over to the Allied Powers. David Lloyd George, the Prime Minister of Great Britain, asked for justice and not for revenge. He wanted Germany to pay for the damages done to Britain s military, Germany s colonies, and for Gremany to be stipped of its navy. He also helped Wilson and Clemenceau compromise. George Clemenceau, the Prime Minister of France, wanted both revenge and to punish the Germans. He wanted Germany to pay for the damage done during the war and to weaken Germany so that they could never invade France again. He also wanted Germany to give up Rhineland, Alsace Lorraine, and the Saar. Lastly, he wanted Germany to be totally and permanently disarmed so that it could not attack other nations. Woodrow Wilson, the President of the United States of America, just wanted to end the war by making a fair peace treaty. He devised the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Essay On Russian And Soviet Government Russia has been run by many different governments since the time of Peter the Great. Accordingly, all of these governments had their advantages, but eventually all will be replaced by a new system of government. The Russian and Soviet governments contain vastly different political systems and ideologies, but the performance of power by the leaders has not changed that vastly. Systems of Governments Tsars ruled Russia for several hundreds of years before falling with the events of the Bolshevik Revolution. The reign is known for the land expansions that were implemented. Nonetheless, a major ideology is the right for the people to have elections to elect their government officials. The Authoritarian reign began with the appointment and election of Vladimir Putin and continues until the present, as he is still in power. Putin uses the ideologies of power, whether in the military sphere, the political field or the financial world. Performance of Power Peter the Great displayed his power in many different ways throughout his reign. He hosted a grand advent, which would replace his coronation, to celebrate his victory at Azov. His coronation occurred when he was ten years old; this advent celebrating the Crimean Tatars defeat was the first real outing of his reign. Later, staged battles that displayed Peter working his way up through the ranks; paintings and engravings were made to commemorate his victories, often referring to himself and Russia as a whole as various Roman gods and goddesses. These displays were a way for Peter to display his dominance to his people throughout his empire, given that there was no modern technology in his time. Stalin performed his power in a slightly different way as there was quicker communication systems in place compared to Peter s time. His charisma and control of the major newspapers led to a cult being formed with Stalin at the head. This cult prevented uprisings and the population s moral higher. He ... In his works, Williams uses lighting to declare relationships, portray moods, and connect with the audience. Tennessee Williams uses light in The Glass Menagerie and A Streetcar Named Desire to make the audience feel the characteristics of Blanche, Laura, and Stanley, the relationships between characters, and to show that The Glass Menagerie is a memory play. He is basically stating that Blanche tries to transform herself to a better state, hiding behind one big lie by using the paper lantern, and when he uncovers the light bulb, he is revealing the truth. When Stanley talks about his physical interactions with women, he uses the reference of getting the colored lights going, (Williams A Streetcar Named Desire 133). This timeless story by Plato, used as a metaphor for those that are, to the philosopher Plato, lowbrows, and have no desire to question what is around them and find the truth and embrace ignorance. I have experienced this first hand, being an exemplification of what it means to not question what I have faith in, or seek more. However, I have also experienced what it is to be the prisoner that turns his head, as well as the prisoner that turns the other cheek. Getting the correct informational statements out to the media in a timely and accurate fashion is important to any Crisis Management Team; and being prepared for any forum of public speaking is vital as one only gets one chance to make a first impression. In order to begin preparation, it is recommended by Hoffman to begin with brainstorming to come up with the any and all possible questions that the press corps could possibly ask. Dewey, and Bruner constructivist view because they used the theory of assimilation and accommodation, e.g., the learning of a new experience and changing of a person s worldview. I also discovered after deep reflection on this week s assignment, how much of an impact my teachers had on my teaching style. Before retiring, I taught based on what my students needed. Therefore, much of my teaching mixed the theories of, Constructivism, Social Constructivism and Cognitive Behavioral depending on the student. In fact, I realized, as I continued to read, my teachers did a lot of modeling and demonstrations on completing a task. In addition, they had the ability to adjust learning to their students learning need and style, even though learning styles were not part of the system yet (Hamond et al., n.d.). Therefore, much of my teaching mimics how I learned from those teachers. I believe in guiding my students toward discovery on their own; therefore, my lessons were thought out, so they encompassed each student s learning style. I taught 6th grade social studies, not an exhilarating course to garner excitement. However, the use of modeling, multiple intelligences, scaffolding, and differentiated learning I feel greatly enhanced learning. • 10. Alfred Hitchcock s Vertigo Often times, throughout many of Alfred Hitchcock films, I find myself very intrigued to the development of how the story unfolds. The difference between Vertigo (1958) and the other films that we have watched, is that this film has more unanswered questions and a darker meaning. Personally, I did not really like how the story of Vertigo was filmed. And of course this is just my own opinion, which can be argued based on your own experience with the film. For instance, throughout the majority of the film, all we see is John Scottie Ferguson (James Stewart), follow Madeleine Elster (Kim Novak) all around the San Francisco area. For me this repetitive act of scenes caused me to unconsciously drift away. Although, I did enjoy the pure cinema ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some of the major forms of experimentation that I noticed throughout the film was in the lighting, camera shots, and movement. A perfect example where Hitchcock experimented with cinematography of lighting within a scene was inside the Empire hotel. Hitchcock really played a lot with the colors of the neon light coming into Judy Barton s (Kim Novak) hotel room. A more specific scene of his intense use of lighting was when Scottie transforms Judy into Madeleine. In fact, Alfred Hitchcock, really felt that the lighting was very important aspect that helped shape the meaning of the scene. According to Vertigo s screenwriter, Samuel Taylor, he mentioned that Hitchcock never really liked to see the story in a full view. Instead Hitchcock was more focused on viewing each scene like a mosaic. In order to view the full story, he believed he had to first complete each part of the mosaic. Hitchcock creates each scene as a form of artwork. As seen in several scenes throughout Vertigo, we clearly see how he creates scenes by focusing on every aspect of cinematography to tell a deeper sinister narrative through each characters. An exaggerated and personally one of my favorite scenes within Vertigo s cinematography was based on the lighting and special effects used in Scotty s nightmare scene. I can imagine how ... Some people ride bikes for fitness purposes, some ride bikes to get from place to place, and some ride bikes to clear their mind after having a long day. Whether you ride for fun or for sport it is important to know the factors that go into bicycle and helmet safety. A study in 2014 shows that 103.7 million people rode a bike that year and 34 percent of Americans age three or older rode a bike at least once in that year ( Study: 103.7 Million Americans Ride Bikes ). The importance of bicycle safety cannot be underestimated. According to the 2008 Alabama Traffic Crash Facts, there were 182 bicycle crash injuries and four fatalities. In 2008, children 14 and under accounted for 27% of the bicycle crash injuries. Bicycle helmets are 85% 88% effective in preventing head and brain injuries; however, only 20% 25% of all bicyclists wear bicycle helmets ( Bicycle Safety ). One of the first factors that go into bicycle and helmet safety is learning how to ride a bike. Many people learn how to ride a bike when they are four or five years old and some do not learn until they are older (Donaldson). Learning how to ride a bike is the first and most important step because without knowing how to ride a bike you will not know what type of bike you will need. The first step when learning how to ride a bike is to make sure you are in a suitable location. Starting off on grass or smooth gravel helps since falls there hurt less. These surfaces make ... It can also take the form of structural discrimination as explained by D, HILL Taking place on a systematic, repetitive, embedded nature within particular social structures such as schooling, housing, employment, credit agencies. (Hill, 2016) Social class is argued to influence a child or a young person education because the people who are in a lower social status are not able to afford private education. Private education is thought to be better for a child, as it has far fewer pupils in each class compared to local authority schools. Higher education is also harder for a child that is not from a higher social status family, as poorer families that need the extra money or have seen their child benefits cut due to the child reaching the age of 18 tend to feel pushed to go from education straight to paid work. There were 3.9 million children living in poverty in the UK in 2014 15, that s 9 children in a classroom of 30. Successful drug delivery and overcoming drug resistance are the primary clinical challenges for management and treatment of cancer. These methods can stop medicinal effects of chemotherapy and even cytotoxic agents that kill any cells indiscriminately. Bill Murray, a retired major league baseball administrator, diagnosed with melanoma endured three separated courses of a new class of immunotherapy to treat the disease. In 2011, Murray was first given a peptide based vaccine and a monoclonal antibody called nivolumab. Nivolumab targets the programmed cell death protein 1 displayed on the surface of T cells, a type of lymphocyte white blood cell. PD 1 works as a signal receptor on activated T cells that packs down T cell activity after detecting its counterpart, PD L1 on the surface of tumor cells. The nivolumab was intended to block PD L1 and allow Murray s T cells to fight cancer. Unfortunately, the treatment did not work and Murray had to be given a new antibody called ipilimumab. It binds cytotoxic T lymphocyte associated protein 4 expressed by PD 1 T cells. The ipilimumab allowed Murray s immune system via T cell offensive to combat cancer. But five years later, ... These Cd s were marketed with the promise that playing them would enrich the intellectual and creative development of my child. Behind the popularity of selling products on such an idea is an unfortunate theme: Parenting can be done quickly and with little inconvenience. The reality is that good parenting does not require classical music, but instead time and effort. As children grow from infancy into adolescence the role of parenting broadens. What are the differences between children who have parents that show little affection when compared to those who liberally hug and kiss? Does it matter if some parents are strict while others are lax? Does it make a difference if some parents spank their children while others go on in seemingly endlessly discussions? As my son once said to his older brother, Just say you understand so he ll shut up. Diana Baumrind (1966, 1967, 1978) decided to find out the answers to those questions by determining what effect parenting styles, as interactions between the two dimensions of parental acceptance and control, had on children s social and intellectual competence. To start with, Baumrind identified four distinct parenting styles: neglectful, permissive, authoritarian, and authoritative. Neglectful parenting is a style in which the parent is very uninvolved in the child s life. These parents seem to focus more on their own lives and are not particularly involved with or supportive of their children. They appear to be detached from the child and provide only for their basic physical and emotional needs and not much else. They offer little or no help with homework, provide minimal supervision, and spend little time together. Permissive (or indulgent) parents are responsive and accepting. • 16. The Government As An Intermediate Agency The government is an intermediate agency which has the main, though by no means the exclusive, responsibility for society s adherence to the principles which favour increased autonomy and respect for people s choices. When one thinks about the work of governments throughout history, they look like extremely obnoxious, or at least dangerous, artefacts, for which the need, and, consequently, the conditions and limits, require moral justification. The mere fact that the government prescribes something to us does not morally justify our doing it (though it may prudentially justify it, and therefore, in some cases it may morally excuse it). The decision to obey a government must be an autonomous one one that, like any decision which can affect other people, we should justify on the basis of a freely accepted moral principle. But if this is so, to what extent are we really obeying the government and not simply governing ourselves? And if the moral person always governs himself, what, for him, is the moral relevance of having a government (besides solving co ordination problems or altering the factual setting)? The era of wars and terrorism was followed by segregation, racial sub ordination, and complacence. He is able to portray this educational longing through phrases such as having an eager desire to learn, key word being eager. Frankenstein and I somewhat differ on our attitude towards learning. I wish I was as motivated as he, but I lack the desire that steers him. I do desire education, but just not to the extent that Frankenstein does. Not only does Frankenstein speak of having access to a routine education, such as a school, but he also speaks of his ability to self teach himself. In order to do so, he must have an immense amount of maturity and an ample amount of both independence and self sufficiency. I only wish that I had these characteristics as strong as he. Similar to how Marxist theory observes the remarkable struggle between social classes, the interactions between said characters, and their struggles, are put on display by Shelly. The exchanges between different characters (or social classes) can be explained by Marx s Communist Manifesto which states that two classes, one being the owners of production named the bourgeoisie and the workers or the proletariat (Montag 386). In this situation Victor can be compared to the bourgeoisie while the creation can be represented by the proletariat. In Frankenstein, a similar dynamic arises within the relationship between Victor and his creation as a definitive struggle rises between the two characters. After the successful birth of the monster Victor enjoys the reaps of his labor and establishes his power effectively exerting control over the lower class or, in this case, his creation. Throughout this evolution, Shelly depicts the relationship between the monster and Frankenstein with Shelly depicts the Marxist evaluation of capitalism. Later on, when Victor becomes enslaved by the horror of his creation, similar Marxist theory is displayed through what is defined as the products of labor. As a result of this, the monster becomes powerful and rebels against Victor, or his creator, who he describes as incompatible. This power struggle represents the struggle between the upper and lower classes, or, the bourgeoisie and the proletariat. At ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This part is very important in order to make sure that all problems at global level can be solved. Our economies in the last 50 years have become more integrated than before. There are a lot of factors that contributed to the achievement such as multinational enterprise (MNE), small and medium sized enterprises (MSEs), and non governmental organizations (NGOs). Culture is the characteristic way of behaving and believing that a group of people have developed over time and share in common (Briscoe, Schuler Tarique, 2012). Whilst globalization is undoubtedly an important aspect of economic activity, it is less significant in its scale and consequences than some enthusiasts claim (Scholte, 2005). Further, the ways in which the international management coordination of economic activities is developing reflect established patterns of economic globalization and competition at national level, such that these structure any emergent properties of a new transnational business system (Dicken, 2007). So, in this section we are going to explain evidently the scope of country differences more predominantly. We will divide it into two perspectives, which are cultural perspectives and institutional perspectives which developed by Geert Hofstede and Fons Trompenaars. 2.1 Cultural Perspectives by Geert Hofstede Hofstede defines culture as the collective programming of the mind which distinguishes the members of one group or category of people from another (Rees Edwards, 2011). • 22. Imperial System Of Han China During The Yongzheng Period... Autocracy in Qing China During The Yongzheng Period In Jonathan D. Spence s book, Treason By The Book, we are introduced to Qing China during the rule of the Yongzheng Emperor who, during his reign, must investigate a scandal involving dissident, rogue scholars who threaten the Chinese imperial system. The imperial system revolves entirely around the emperor who must rule benevolently, and as an autocrat. As is typical of an autocrat, the Emperor rules by divine right, and as a result has no checks on his power by law or citizenry, contains some elements of arbitrariness such as cronyism, nepotism and overruling officials based on what comes down to emotion, and has a vast bureaucracy capable of tracking down and interrogating anyone accused of being a dissident, including other officials. Therefore, despite Emperor Yongzheng s noble attitudes and ideas, evidence within Treason By The Book shows that Yongzheng is unequivocally an autocrat, because he fits all the previously listed criteria. When looking at what made Emperor Yongzheng an autocrat, it s important to look at the tactics implemented by the emperor to ensure cooperation and to crack down on any resistance or potential plots against him. During the first few pages of Treason By The Book, we are introduced to first instance of the very efficient and meticulous world of bureaucratic spy campaigns and information gathering authorities when the Emperor sends an official from the Ministry of Punishments to gather ... • 27. The Importance Of Play With Toys With the amount of time children spend playing with toys, every parent or legal guardian of a child should be more prudent with the toys their children to play with. Playing is important to children. Play is one of the main ways children learn and toys are tools that help encourage that. Play with toys is extremely beneficial in ways people fail to realize. For example toys help teach motor skills and social skills and help them build creativity and exercise their muscles. Creativity in children is also developed during play. Children who get time off other duties to play become more attentive especially in their schoolwork. Leaving children to initiate their own kind of games, gives them room to become more creative as opposed to when they are supervised by an adult (Goldstein, 2012, p.13). The toys children play with affect their own interests and skills as a person during childhood, which influences their characteristics as a person in adulthood. First and foremost, play is essential to a child s development. Play is so important to optimal child development that it has been recognized by the United Nations High Commission for Human Rights as a right of every child (Play and Childrens, n.d.). • 30. What Every American Should Know By Eric Liu Interpretative essay What every American should know by Eric Liu thoroughly examines the issue of cultural literacy and its place in modern America. It takes on a convincing argument against E.D. Hirsch s book on the same which included some 5000 things that he thought define cultural literacy and every American should know. Liu argues that America has changed over time, becoming more multicultural, and to capture the cultural literacy of the country, no one person should sit down and come up with what they think everyone else should know. Instead he suggests that in order to capture the view of the nation, every American should be involved in the making of the list. The most engaging part of this article is Liu s idea that this new list that is crowd sourced should always change according to the times. It should not be cast in stone because things in this day and age change really fast; what is a hit this month will be old news in the next one. This is what cultural literacy really is; keeping up with what is going on around you and being open to learn new things as they emerge. This can also be said of education; in order to stay educated in any field, you have to be in the know of in terms of new developments. The conversation and debates on cultural literacy should continue in every place in America since it helps us to understand and be tolerant of other cultures around us (Gay 2010). The Internet is where we do our shopping, our reading, where we interact with others, both socially and romantically, and where the average American spends a large amount of time. In 2013, it was reported that the average American adult would spend three hours a day on social media and networking sites talking to others and playing games (Staff, 2013). These sites know everything about us, our birthday, age, gender, political standing, what music we like, what stores we shop at. In this type of digital environment, nothing that is private remains so for long, especially for prominent figures, like celebrities, movie stars, and political figures. Congressman Anthony Weiner found this out not too long ago when one of his private messages was broadcast publicly via Twitter, creating a snowball effect that all but ended his Congressional career. We as a society like nothing better than a little bit of political scandal. In May of 2011, a risque photo of Democratic Congressman, Anthony Weiner, appeared for a short period of time on the man s Twitter account before begin hastily removed by the man s public relations representative. • 43. Of Mice And Men Movie And Book Comparison John Steinbeck s Of Mice and Men shows the struggle of human loneliness and pursuing dreams and freedom. It is fueled by fear of past failure and be labeled as outcasts or fear of what defines them. In the book it is the same concept. The character in the book were as believable in the book as they were in the movie, and quite frankly the exact same as I pictured so I give the author props for that. The actors portrayed the novel s characters to a tee and when I saw them it was like I had watched the movie first and then read the book and already had them in my mind. The author hit the nail on the head with his interpretation of the books character. The main character s development throughout the story was both dynamic and static. Lennie ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The main antagonists that viewers could clearly point out would be Curley, Curley s Wife, fear of being alone, and fear of unaccomplished dreams. Also a minor character in the story that played a big role was Carlson. He shot Candy s dog which was a foreshadowing of what was to come. That same pistol shot Lennie. It was an important event that Carlson shot the dog because when he is done he cleans the gun which shows that when George and Lennie watch they will know where to find it also. Carlson also mentions that he will shoot the dog in the back of the head and that it is a humane way of killing the dog and it won t even quiver . George remembers this when he has to shoot Lennie and what a coincidence he shot him in the back of the head. Carlson is more important than you think. A character that dramatically was different in the movie than in my imagination when we read the book was Lennie. He was portrayed by John Malkovich and I wouldn t have chosen him because he was way older than I would have imagined Lennie. The change in that wouldn t have been a big controversy at all and it wasn t a big change either and I believe it would be argued a good or bad decision either. All in all the movie was a good movie. They did not have many changes to the plot or viewer s perception of the characters. The novel and book also go hand in hand in the symbolism and theme of the novel. I believe John Steinbeck hit the nail on the head with this book and Gary Sinise did good on following up and making a great ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Indeed, out of all the people I ve worked alongside with, none made an impression on me quite as much as my former manager Maria from H R Block. Despite the fact that H R Block is the biggest tax firm in the world, it still has many venues for growth. In my interview with Maria, she mentioned to me that many people are off put by H R Block due to the high prices. Other tax preparation firms charge anywhere from $50 $300 for a return while H R Block charges range from $50 $700 returns. This staggering price range is the reason why many people will risk doing their taxes with smaller and less organized firms rather than H R Block. The reason why H R Block sets their price so high is because it backs each return with audit protection and demands that the preparer checks every return carefully before being sent to the IRS. Maria claimed that if more customers knew about the unparalleled quality of H R Block s guarantees, as well as the danger and stress of an IRS audit, many more people would do their returns at H R Block instead of at a cheap and risky unofficial stores . In order to solve this issue, Maria told me that she was trying to emphasize the company s guarantees to the marketing team so they could make commercials and brochures advertising this fact of H R Block. Americans need to consider the face that H R Block is the largest tax preparation firm in the country. However, as Maria puts it: There is always room for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With current science making this once far off dream a reality, two men were quick to throw their opinions into the air, making their stance clear on the subject. In Building Baby from Genes Up Ronald M. Green encourages people to embrace the inevitable benefits that genetic modification will shower upon the world. Contrasting this article is the more reserved Richard Hayes with Genetically Modified Humans? No Thanks , in which he warns of the harm it will undoubtedly bring to humanity. While the two stand on opposite sides of the fence, it can be agreed upon by both authors that genetic modification could change the world with it s ability to eliminate disease. New human genetic technologies have real potential to help prevent or cure many terrible diseases (Hayes, 500) states Hayes, as he supports genetic modification through this service. Green, the advocate for the process, is quick to provide examples of how the practice could improve the lives of future children. For example, one day a man named Percy spencer had helped change our kitchens forever when he brought a piece of chocolate into a factory and dropped it onto the floor, and after it melted he had discovered how to make an invention that would change the world and help make cooking easier therefore he had made a company that would help him make a device that would mimic the effects of the chocolate bar against the factory floor, but only after 20 years he had finally perfected the effects of the heat against the chocolate bar on the factory floor and he called it the microwave. Explain the strengths and weaknesses of each. Ring Architecture. Has a closed loop with all PC s linked to the next one. Circuits are full duplex or half duplex, which allows messaging in both directions around the ring. The fall back is the time in which message can take to travel around the ring from the sender to a receiver, since the messages have to pass through several different computers and circuits, concluding in traffic delays which can pile up quickly. Star Architecture connects all the PCs to a central PC which acts as the message router to an appropriate PC. It s easier to manage because of the central PC receiving and routing all the messages in the desired network. This allows the communication to be faster than ring architecture since it only travels through two circuits to reach the receiver. However, having only one central pc can create more problems since its in change of all the messages on the network. This creates room for overload in traffic and could potentially decrease performance overall. Mesh Architecture has every PC connected to very other PC. This is a Full mesh network, and it s biggest downfall is the high price. However, partial mesh most PC, but not all are connected to each other. Although it combines star and ring, if ... The way a learner could use concept map to learn the material about African Kingdoms and Trading States is to create a diagram of Sunni Ali as a leader and the predecessor Askia Muhammad and how Morocco soldiers had won due to guns, technology, and cannons. The student can also create a map as shown in the map study, to determine the trading states by using creating his own map and legend.
