This document summarizes a study that aimed to identify phytoplasma host ranges among wild grasses in western Kenya. The study found a great diversity of wild grass species in the regions studied, with Cynodon dactylon and Bracharia being the most abundant. Approximately 63% of phytoplasma infections detected were latent or asymptomatic. In Bungoma county, C. dactylon and Bracharia were identified as the main phytoplasma host grasses. In Busia county, unidentified grass species accounted for the most phytoplasma hosts, though Bracharia and Digitaria were also significant hosts.
