Direct Variation: A Linear function that can be expressed in the form y=kx , where k Doesn't equal 0.Y=18x
Equivalent Inequalities:Equivalent Inequalities have the same set of solution.x + 4<7 and x < 3
Function Rule:An equation that describes a function. Y = 4x + 1
Geometric Sequence:A number sequence formed by mult. A term in a sequence by a fixed number to find the next term.9, 3, 1, 1/3
Hypothesis:The part following if in a conditional. If the conditional “If an animal has four legs, Then it is a horse,” the hypothesis is “an animal has four legs”.
Integers:The whole numbers and their opposites.… -3, -2,-1, 0, 1, 2, 3,…..
Jump Point :Is a starting number in a mathematical sequence 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7,…… The red number is the jump point.
Kilograms:The metric prefix for 1,000.For Example when the drug dealers bag up their drugs up. They use kilograms to see how much goes in each little baggie.
Like Terms:Terms with exactly the same variables factors in a variable expressions.4y and 16y
Median:The middle value in an ordered set of numbers.7, 10, 11, 12, 12, 12,13The median is 12.
Natural Numbers:The counting numbers.1, 2, 3, 4,……
Opposite:A number that is the same distance from zero on the number line as a given number, but lies in the opposite direction.-3 is the opposite is 3
Perfect square trinomial:Any trinomial of the form a2 + 2ab + b2 Or a 2 - 2ab + b2( x + 3)2 = x2 + 6x + 9

Term of a Sequence: -4 is the first term of the sequence -4, 5, 14, 23.Any number in a sequence.
Unit Rate: A rate with a denominator of 1.The unit rate for 120 miles driven in 2 hours is 60 mi/h.
Variable: A symbol, usually a letter, that represents one or more numbers.X is a variable in the equation 9 – x = 3
Whole Numbers:The nonnegative integers. 0, 1, 2, 3,…..
X-InterceptThe x-coordinate of the point where a line crosses the x-axis.The x-intercept of 3x+4y = 12 is 3.
Y-InterceptThe y-coordinate of the point where a line crosses the y-axis.The y-intercept of y = 5x + 2 is 2.
