A telecom company is considering upgrading their infrastructure in your city and they have hired G&B Consulting. The telecom company would be willing to invest in upgraded lines that offer higher speeds and bandwidth, but it is costly to do so and they are afraid they might make the investment but not have customers willing to upgrade their services which would be needed to recoup their profits. The alternative would be to keep the old infrastructure, but there are already a high amount of service complaints from the customer base. The telecom company needs to determine if investing in the improved service will pay off for them by having a sufficient amount of customers buy the upgraded service. You have been tasked with helping them determine their optimum strategy.

Shiraev/Levy Cross-Cultural Psychology 5/e
Imagine, a researcher wants to find similarities and differences between arranged marriage practiced in India and nonarranged marriages in the United States and how they affect marital stability. What does the psychologist aim to pursue in this particular project?
First, the researcher wants to describe the findings of this research.
Then, when some differences between ethnic groups are found, the researcher tries to explain whether these factors affect stability.
The practical value of the study may be significant if it not only explains but also predicts the factors that should determine successful marital relationships in both studied groups.

Why Does African American Mothers Use More Intense Disciplinary Practice Than African American Fathers?
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
i. Population and Sampling
The research is about African American parents and this means that the main population targeted by the study is the African American parents in the United States. According to U.S. Census Bureau QuickFacts, (2019); by the end of 2017; the country had a total of 41.4million African Americans. With over 10million African American parents in the United States, some are single parents while others are married couples. It is evident that the United States is a vast country which makes it impossible to reach out to African American parents in different states. For this study, the research will target the one state recording the highest number of African American parents which is Texas which has a total of 3,269,253 or (32%) of the total state population.
The African Americans living in Texas are from different African countries and this means they have different backgrounds, beliefs, and attitudes towards children disciplinary and hence would help to understand the difference between a father and a mother disciplinary practice. The simple random sampling technique will be applied where African American parents in Texas will be randomly selected to take part in the research study. According to Omair, (2014); simple random sampling technique helps in eliminating biasness in a research because all eligible participants have equal opportunities.
For one to become a participant, he/she must provide reliable evidence that he/she if an African American for instance an identification card or passport. The participant must also prove that he/she lives within the targeted region. The research will target approximately 2000 participants where a 1000 will be mothers whether single or married and the other 1000 fathers both single and married. The selected participants will be taken through a screening process to determine whether they understand what parenting is all about focusing on the disciplinary aspect of parenting and also their details would be collected at this point. After the selection process is complete, the participants to be taken through a briefing process of what the research is all about, what is expected of them, and how the research findings would be used. All these briefing will take place in a research identified location that would be considered as the research center all through the process.
ii. Instrumentation
To obtain data, interviews research assessment tool will be applied. The assessment tool will help in measuring the variables of interest in the study. This is through asking questions and rephrasing it for the purpose of determining whether the response given in the initial question corresponds with the response in the second question. It is evident that since Texas is a vast state, some participants might be located far away. The asses ...

• This research is aimed at seeking to show that homothermous can
also operate in mate selection.

3. • People do differ on personal traits and people will always
seek someone with traits that they lack, this is known as
ideal-self fulfillment theory.
• This proposal is aimed also at finding the possibility of
this kind of theory.
• In doing so, this presentation will focus on providing the
literature that provides the literature focusing on the
theory of complementary in mate selection.

4. • This section will focus on the following;
o Theory of complementary need in mate selection
• This is a theory presented by Robert Winch,
which provides that when selecting a mate
people chooses mates that have opposing
traits so that they can receive the highest
satisfaction they need.
• to suggest that partners usually chooses
people who their strength does compensate
their lack
o Theory of ideal-self fulfillment in mate selection
o Proposed by Karp, Jackson and Lester in 1970 it’s
a theory that provides that homogenous require a
process and complementary that operate in mate
selection.
o they states that mate selection is basically based
on mate selection

5. • with arguments coming from Karp, Jackson and Lester
tit brings out two hypothesis.
o i. One actual self will resemble their perception of their soul mate more than it
would be expected on the basis of chance alone.
o ii. In rating their description differently by subject of they actual-self and ideal-
self the subject of perception mate’s actual –self will resemble his or her ideal-
self.
• To validate the above hypotheses data will be obtained
from the subject perception and compared to the chance
expectation. Additionally, the subject’s perception shall
be compared to his or her mate’s perception.
Hypothesis

6. • To conduct the research effectively some of
the measurement tools shall be used.
• Interpersonal checklist (ICL) Form designed
by Rolfe LA Forge and Robert Suczek shall
be sued.
• it is used to measure personal variables that
are described as Interpersonal Diagnosis of
personality.
• it can also be used to measure someone’s
conscious of describing themselves.
• It shall be designed in a way it examines all
phrases that apply to one person before
proceeding.

7. • Sampled used in this study will be 36 engaged couple
and 20 married couples.
• For one to be considered to have been married they
should produce a marriage certificate from a recognized
church.
• to be married it means that you are living together.
• to be engaged couple should have approached a priest
to make arrangement for their wedding.
Sample

8. • The 36 engaged couples were tested using the ICL
weekly.
• each two couples will be engaged in a test session.
• they should be encouraged to complete the test.
• Using the discussion leader, they will provide the
marriage course.
• After providing their personal data they will be subjected
to answering four answer sheets.
• they should be provided with answering procedures and
the statistical analysis on how the study should be
presented.
Procedure

9. • Using the three answers sheet one
will fall to the eight patterns.
• for instance if the item was classified
as an A, the item should be checked
as actual-self and ideal-self but not
checked I the mate’s actual self thus
not perceived as the mate classified
as B. each item shall be classed with
A,B,C,D,E,F,G and H (As indicated on
the right).
• The study will report the number of
homogenous that has closest friends.
Analysis
9/20/2018Mate Selection 9
11. • Consent
o The participants should be provided with maternal
consent and paternal concent.
o The respondent should be provide with all the
consent of the pregnant woman and a father if
they are pregnant.
o The principle standards should be guided by the
day to day activities that have been established by
the cooperative values.
o the participants ought to be respected with their
contributions to the research
• Discrimination in recruitment should
not be practiced since it will inhibit
the success of women.

Editor's Notes
The selected topic entails male selection, also known as intersexual selection, where females choose between male mates. The female must be selective whenever choosing their mates because of the quality of their offspring.
In the introductory part, we will be able to see some of the factors that have led to a lasting relationship between women and men. There are many characteristics that lead to people being attracted to their partner which include; Area of residence, socioeconomic level, and religious affiliation among many other. There has been an argument if homogamy or heterogamete is the ones that form the basis of mate selection. This research is aimed at finding out how homogenous operate in mate selection.
People usually differ in the ways they select their partners other to select their mate due to financial status while others do not consider it as an issue. Selecting someone due to traits that you consider you don’t have is referred to ideal-self fulfillment theory. The main focus of this research will focus on the theory of complementary found inmate selection.
For the literature review, it will focus on some of the mate selection theories that are used in mate selection. One of them include; theory of complementary whee one chooses their mate due to opposing mates. This is where one is selected due to the strength that may lead to compensation for their lack. The second theory entails ideal- self-fulfillment where one is selected based on the process and complementary operating inmate selection.
There are two hypothesis available in this presentation they include; One actual self will resemble their perception of their soul mate more than it would be expected on the basis of chance alone and secondly, In rating their description differently by subject of they actual-self and ideal-self the subject of perception mate’s actual –self will resemble his or her ideal-self. The proposal is aimed at ensuring the two hypotheses have been answered.
To answer the hypothesis the design used will be interpersonal checklist (ICL) that will measure personal variables. Through ICL one will be able to describe oneself and their idea of selecting their mates. They will be designed in a way it will examine all phrases that apply to someone before proceeding.
The small part of a population that will be selected will be 56 people. 36 of the selected sample will e engaged couple while 20 of them will be married couples. There is a need to consider different types of people to get the required feedback. Married people are people that are living together and have a recognized certificate from the church pastor. In this case, couples will be individuals that have visited the pastor in an attempt to marry each other.
In testing the two hypothesis, a procedure should be followed to come up with a conclusion. The selected procedure will continue through the administration of the test to the sample. They will be involved in a test through which they will provide personal data through the four answer sheet.
The analysis will be done using the image on the right that has three answers sheet with eight patterns from A to H. It will report the number of homogenous that has closest friends. As interpreted for instance those that like actual-self and also like ideal self-care considered as mates that are like. This can also be interpreted similarly all the way to H.
Here is the research timeline that will take seven weeks. The first section will be selected of the topic which is mate selection. Collecting of data using the ICL data sheet. Analysis of data for coming up with recommendation and findings. The final part is finalizing on the research protecting and coming up with a conclusion.
In this section of ethical considerations, this is the accumulation of values and principles that will address questions of good and bad that is affecting human affairs. For this case, consent. This should be provided consent of pregnant women. They should be respected for their contribution to be researched. There should also be no discrimination I the selection process which might inhibit the success of women.
