This document provides an overview of the key considerations for developing a physical planning master plan for a tourism destination. It outlines the various area characteristics that should be mapped, including location, natural environment, topography, wildlife, coastal/marine areas, geology, ecological systems, natural resources, historical influences, sociocultural and economic patterns, land use and settlement patterns, environmental quality, tourist markets, existing tourist facilities and services, and transportation and other infrastructure.
