The document discusses research conducted on perceptions of exemplary teachers. 10 participants from various backgrounds including students, parents, and professionals were interviewed. determine the factors affecting the students who live in the boarding houses/dormitories towards their academic
performance related to their financial; personal and boarding house security and if the gender of the individual
affects the performances of the students who live in the boarding house or dormitories of President Ramon
Magsaysay State University, Iba Campus, Iba, Zambales, A.Y. 2018-2019. Sixty (60) teacher education students
were chosen to be the respondents of the recent researches. The method used in this research study was a
descriptive survey questionnaire. Results revealed that Student –respondents were typically females, Academic
Performance of the student respondents is at the average level. Moderately agree on the financial, personal, and
boarding house factors affecting boarding student respondents. There is no significant difference in the factors
affecting boarding student respondents in terms of sex. There is no significant relationship between factors
affecting the boarding student – respondent in terms of the financial, personal, and boarding house. The result
of the study will be the baseline information that the Electricity supply, potable and running water must be
prioritize by the school administration. Parents should ensure enough allowance given to their children.
Boarding house/dormitories must have enough space for the study area. Conduct another study to deepen the
information provided specifically on focusing boarders privacy .

Factors Affecting the Reading Comprehension Level of Grade VI Learners of Sel...SubmissionResearchpa
This study probed on factors affecting the reading comprehension among 264 Grade Six learners in the three selected schools in the District of Tanza Cavite for the academic year 2018-2019. The researcher aptly considered the descriptive method of research using Phil-IRI Test and a researcher- made questionnaire as data gathering instruments. The gathered data were analyzed through percentage, mean, arbitrary scale with its corresponding adjectival interpretation, and the Pearson product moment of correlation. The singular hypothesis was tested at 0.05 level of significance. Findings revealed that majority of the Grade VI learners comprised the instructional level of reading comprehension; the parent, home, teacher and learner factors all have moderate extent of association to the learners’ level of reading comprehension; and that the parent factor had a weak association with learners’ level of reading comprehension, while home, teacher and learner factors have had a negligible association with learners’ reading comprehension level. Furthermore, it revealed that the all the factors considered significantly affect the reading comprehension of the 6th Grade learners. The researcher therefore recommends Reading/English teachers and school managers to expose students with variety of reading materials so it can positively affect learners level of reading comprehension; and that the external stakeholders must be informed on the relevance of reading activities at school and at home to ensure that learners will be molded holistically. by Amado Montera Cadiong 2020. The layout of a classroom can also affect a student’s behavior, concentration and attitudes toward learning. If the classroom is designed to promote positive collaborations, physical movement and accessible materials, students are able to take charge of their own learning.
Classroom Environment
The physical layout of the classroom promotes flexibility for movement and is important to student learning. According to Tomlinson (2013), students need to be able to change their seating arrangements and vantage points to keep them engaged in learning. The walls in classroom are utilized to reflect student work , projects and visuals are used throughout the room as rule reminders and choice menus. Bulletin boards and partition walls are also used to draw student attention to highlighted work and project examples that students may be currently working on.

The Furniture
All the furniture in the classroom including the desks, tables, bookshelves and supply cart are lightweight and movable to allow for easy access. The furniture is also made out of material that does not stain and is easy for students to wipe down after art activities. Since space is limited in my classroom moveable furniture enables me to create a larger space in the middle of the classroom. The larger space provides me an opportunity to differentiate my lessons in a different learning format. The students in my classroom have diverse learning styles and learning in different formats can promote increased student engagement.

My students and I design our community rules on the first day of school, each of my students can either write down a rule idea on a 3x5 card or they can raise their hand and tell me. I then put down all the rules on the whiteboard and once we have decided on appropriate rules, then they are posted in the front of the cla.

They may use this process to know learners’ ability to recall information, assess learners’ ability to understand, see how learners can apply the knowledge and skills in a current situation, analyze skills how they can differentiate opinions and facts, how they combine different concepts and form a good structure to help develop new meaning, and evaluate the learner's ability to perceive vital concepts.
Lecture teaching strategy is an effective and straightforward way of quickly impacting students with knowledge and is effective when introducing new material (Xu, 2016). It addresses cognitive domain.
Lecture teaching strategy becomes effective because the instructor gives elaborate details of the course and engage student. Through student and teacher interaction, educator is able to explain, demonstrate, and answer learners’ question hence foster their learning.
For learners who prefer to listen to information, lecture teaching strategy and aural learning style would be appropriate. This is because a student may learn better through hearing and responding to the lecturer rather than using notes. Also, learners may read loudly to improve their understanding (Ocepek et al., 2013).
The lecture strategy may be implemented by clearly stating the instructor’s expectation from learners, be prepared to highlight the key concept to enable learners to keenly follow, ask a question to engage the student as well as ask for their feedback.
Educators can use a language that is understood by all learners when using the lecture teaching strategy to pass information to learners. Effective cross-cultural communication would be essential to promote cultural sensitivity by avoiding slangs, and avoiding cultural biases (Ladha et al., 2018).

Unit One Reflection
For this week’s journal entry reflect on your teaching experience. In both the Marzano and Jones textbooks, the authors stress the importance of focusing on classroom policies and procedures at the beginning of the school year in order to achieve a good start. How closely do you attend to the types of procedures discussed by these authors and what might you do differently in terms of planning and instructing in the future as a result of the readings? I work with students who are only assigned to my caseload; therefore I’m not closely involved in school wide/teacher planning. However, at times I participate in Intervention meetings with the Principal, Assistant Principal, teacher(s), School psychologist, School social worker and sometimes the parent. During the meetings, I offer strategies for classroom management behaviors. If a student is a candidate for ADHD or any disability, I arrange for psychological testing to assess whether possible ADHD or emotional factors are interfering with the student’s academic performance, provide feedback to the parents, and school officials regarding the psychological evaluation. I also consult with parents and school officials about designing effective learning programs for intervention strategies that build on his strengths and compensate weaknesses.

The "Dealing with the Dilemma of Gum Chewing" case study provides an example of how we can teach productive behaviors. After completing this week's reading, reflect on where this type of strategy might apply in your setting.
•Have you encountered situations in your setting where this approach may be more productive than what you have been doing? In the Kindergarten class, the students continue to struggle with picking up cut paper. Instead of having the students cut paper, the teacher showed the class how to fold the paper and use the edge of their desk to cut. After several times of redirecting, the students were able to begin using the scissors again. The students developed a system in the class where 1 person from each table (red, blue, purple, yellow) collects the paper straps.
•What are the ethical issues involved in establishing expectations without teaching the appropriate expected behaviors? Ethical issues continue to be an ongoing issue today in schools and without providing detailed expectations teachers leaves room for issues and concerns. Misinforming, consents, students getting hurt, etc. could happen. Students could always say they were not informed and the responsibility falls back on the teacher. I think in this situation communication is vital.

A- Classroom Demographics
lowa the King Catholic School consists of approximately 240 students from pre-k to 8th grade. The kindergarten class, the classroom in which I observed, consists of 21 students. Students’ demographics are 15 white students, three African American students, one Asian student, and one Hispanic student. The classroom is managed by two teachers who are trained to deal with different ethnic groups. Because the school is a private school, most of the students represent middle to high levels of socioeconomic status.
The students’ behaviors in the kindergarten class are diverse. As students in the kindergarten class are a younger age, they normally are very active and teachers were very professional in dealing with them. The teachers always reminded the children of the rules of the class such as, “Don’t speak when the teacher is talking. Don’t answer questions until the teacher asks you to answer”. In addition, in the class, there is a leadership board and every day the teachers put one of the student’s name on the board to be the leader of the day. The leader’s job is to do the morning work such as set the date of the day, weather, and season on the smart board by getting help from the teachers and students. Also, some of the leader’s job is to organize the students’ line when they go to the restroom in the restroom times and when they go to the play area.
The teachers plan the lesson carefully to meet all students’ needs. They develop the curriculum to align with all students’ cultures and backgrounds. They print all of the vocabulary they teach students on cards and put them on the board. In addition, they put different books that are related to different cultures in the class library for students to read in the reading time.
B- Philosophy
From my point of view, most of the students’ problems and misbehaviors happen for a reason. Therefore, it is the teacher’s job to find out the reasons for the misbehaviors and teach the students the appropriate behaviors. The most effective way to prevent the misbehavior is to focus on replacing and teaching the positive behavior instead of eliminating it. the theory of Ibrahim Maslow supports this idea and shows that undesired behavior happens not because of a bad child, but because of the child is reaction when one or more of his/her basic needs are not being met. These needs include Knowledge and understanding, self-actualization, self-respect, belongingness and affection, safety and security, physiological needs. He suggests that to reduce child negative behavior, parents and teachers should work to meet the child’ needs.
Furthermore, I believe that teachers can create a productive and positive classroom atmosphere by conducting group activities to help students form good relationships with classmates and became familiar with other cultures and ethnicities. ABSTRACT: The evolving educational landscape has made it more challenging to create 21st-century
learners who are prepared for the future and ready to take on the global competition. Furthermore, due to its
themes, goals, and objectives, social studies is mostly necessary in the current world. Additionally, it encourages
civic engagement and social interaction. Hence, this study investigated the effects of reflective journal writing
(RJW) in improving students' conceptual understanding. The study involved Grade-12 students of a
government-owned school in Olongapo, Philippines. The results revealed that the students' level of conceptual
understanding is at a developing level before the use of the intervention. After the application and use of RJW, it
has been observed that the level of conceptual understanding has improved. This research affirms the positive
effects of journal writing on the students’ enhancement of their conceptual understanding. Thus, teachers may
consider the strategy for students’ conceptual retention and enhancement. A parallel study may be conducted to
validate the effects of the intervention in other contexts.

Differentiation is when a teacher tailors
lessons to the individual student.
In our classroom lessons will be given in a
variety of ways. Many will be introduced in a
large group setting, and all lessons will be
reinforced with individual lessons using
differentiated strategies tailored to your child’s
particular needs. Afterwards, students will
practice their lessons individually or in small
groups. The groups will have members that
will enhance learning for everyone. This means
that the groups may have an advanced student
to help others better understand the concepts
presented using age-related vocabulary, or that
groups may have a struggling student that will
be mentored by peers. In this way the children
have a chance to become both student and
teacher at various times. This method is a
proven way to advance knowledge, raise self-
esteem, and increase social skills.
Differentiation can be as varied as the students
themselves. Educators must be creative,
innovative, and compassionate to these

for students.

This study aims to obtain information and find out about Efforts to
Improve Students' Ability to Write Text in the Form of Procedure
through the Make a Match Learning Model in Class IX.4 of SMP
Negeri 1 Batang Anai. This type of research is classroom action
research with research subjects being grade IX.4 students of SMP
Negeri 1 Batang Anai with a total of 32 students. This study consisted
of two cycles, where the first cycle was carried out at meetings 1 and
2 and the second cycle was carried out at meetings 3 and 4. Each cycle
consisted of four stages of research, namely planning, implementing
actions, observing and reflecting. To obtain research data three
instruments were used, namely observation sheets, field notes, and
test sheets, which were analyzed qualitatively using percentages.
Based on the results of the study showed that the learning activities
of class IX.4 students using the make a match learning model
increased from initial conditions, cycle I and cycle II

Exemplary Teacher
Teachers play a crucial role in the life of a learner. They are essential in the learner's
performance outcome. The parent's guardians, benefactors, and the society at large work towards
the learners' success. Proper direction and motivation are needed to help the learner perform to
the best of their capability. A teacher's work has become quite demanding in the current world
due to integrating people from different backgrounds, races, and ethnic groups. It is through the
exemplary performance of a student that the teacher feels accomplished. For a long time, an
exemplary teacher has been weighed based on the student's performance (Duke et al., 2018).
However, there are different criteria used in defining the exemplary performance of a teacher.
Therefore, a teacher's effectiveness is paramount to offer the best to the learners based on their
different backgrounds, gender, and abilities. It is therefore essential to analyze an exemplary
teacher. The paper will involve conducting primary research to determine the different beliefs
people possess based on exemplary teachers and quality teaching. It will also explain the
importance of the identified qualities in high-quality teaching.

Participants. The research aims to identify the beliefs and perceptions of a different group of
people. Diverse groups of people have varied perceptions and beliefs concerning exemplary
teachers. The interview was conducted with different groups that included parents, students, and
professionals from various fields to evaluate the research question. The research participants
composed of six females and four males aged between 19-62 years. The ages were considered
since they were familiar with the education system and the role of a teacher. Two of the
participants were college students, while the rest were adults in different professions. Based on
the diversity in the education system, the participants were individuals from different ethnic
groups. This was also a mode of reducing any bias that might result from the collected data. Two
of the participants were workers in elementary schools: one was a private school worker while
the other was a public school worker. Four of the participants worked in a governmental
organization. Out of the ten participants, eight were parents whose children were in different
academic levels.
Data collection. Data was collected through the administration of semi-structured interviews.
Individuals were researched separately on their perception and understanding of exemplary
teacher and their qualities. The interview duration for each participant was 20 minutes. The
obtained responses were recorded in a digital tape, and later the process of transcribing the
interviews that were recorded commenced. Individuals responded to the interview based on their
experiences and beliefs of the subject matter. English was used as the language of the interview
since all the participants were conversant with the language.

Data analysis. Data was analyzed through a qualitative approach, and similar responses were
grouped. The transcribed interview revealed different understanding, beliefs, and perceptions of
exemplary teachers. Groping of information based on the responses' similarities will help reduce
the bulk of the collected data. It will also help in the discussion and interpretation of information.
Findings and Discussions
The research revealed that exemplary teachers possess high professional expertise levels
and offer high psychological development. Based on how they live and act, they consistently
instill the same virtues to the learners. They are, therefore, role models to the learners. They
encourage creativity and provide a conducive learning environment for learners to develop
intellectual culture. The governmental organizations' participants described exemplary teachers
as individuals with high reflective capability who can understand the values behind different
decisions and choices (Jacques et al., 2017). They held in the development of intra and
interpersonal knowledge essential in formulation and structuring of their classroom's social and
physical characteristics. They understand the importance of knowledge development and
inculcating good habits and behaviors when they are at a tender age since knowledge acquisition
is a long time journey.
The exemplary teachers capitalize on the child's development to create an involving
environment encouraging learning. Exemplary teachers uphold continuous learning in their
profession. Continuous learning ensures teachers are knowledgeable about the current world and
the environment around them. They interact with parents and their colleagues to understand
perceptions of learners' outcomes and understand the best approach to deal with them. Through

interaction with others, such as parents and colleagues, they learn different academic approaches
relevant to the learner's excellence. These teachers are involved in deep search and understanding
their learner's interests, hobbies, and family background to develop their potential. Through
gathering this information, they can link up the child to external and real-world experiences.
Parents and guardians are the long-term teachers for the children. Exemplary teachers make
regular contact with the long-term teachers and help them understand their children's strengths
(Jacques et al., 2017). They help the parents understand their children's weaknesses to create a
collaborative environment through frequent communication. Exemplary teachers believe in
cooperation and collaboration between them and parents to attain the child's goal.
The participants revealed that an exemplary teacher is a resolver of disputes in the
confines of school. They help the learners live at peace by giving direction upon the rise of a
conflict. Choices have consequences, and teachers help the children think through daily decisions
and understand their choices' probable outcomes. Teachers establish an appropriate platform for
class interaction on both academic and life issues. Communication skills are key aspects of
children's lives as they interact with their peers (Jacques et al., 2016). The application of various
teaching methodologies to help the learners engage in the reflective process is a characteristic of
an exemplary teacher. The application of these methodologies helps learners link the class
teachings to the real world's subject matters. Learners can think critically and creatively in
demonstration of their learning. Learners can sometimes best learn from their peers, and
exemplary teachers ensure they can teach and learn different concepts from each other. The
teacher seizes opportunities and chances to help learners think through different problems or
intellectual aspects (Jacques et al., 2016). Learners are taught to inculcate life skills, such as

admitting when they are in the wrong, being honest, and listening without interruption. The
exemplary teacher offers learners an opportunity for self-reflection and, therefore, critique their
works. This allows them to learn more and think through situations soberly for a perfect solution.
It also helps them realize there still more to learn daily.
Comparison
Similarities
Based on the research and my own beliefs and experiences, exemplary teachers
understand that learners need more than subjects taught in class to excel. They understand that
the integration of various players helps the child cope with challenges beyond the classroom and
school environment. Exemplary teachers offer more than the basics by developing the child's
psychological perspectives and preparing them for future encounters (Duke et al., 2018).
Learners are taught to develop independence and flexibility to cope with life challenges outside
the classroom arena. Exemplary teachers base their teachings on the learners, who are their major
subjects of concern. Therefore, the education system becomes student-centered, and the goals
and objectives of learning revolve around the wellbeing of a child. They develop skills, such as
honesty, empathy, and self-control, in the course of their profession.
High-quality teaching revolves around equitable and fair distribution of resources, which
is necessary for exemplary learner outcomes. A learner's success is determined by a combination

of adequate and quality teachers with their learners' welfare at heart. Learners, especially in the
marginalized regions, lack access to high-quality teaching due to staff inadequacy (Jacques et al.,
2016). Exemplary teachers offer their best in the face of challenges for the good of their learners.
They devise different strategies and mechanisms for the good of their learners. Integrating
different players is their ultimate goal to ensure success in their academics and guaranteed
general life. The cognitive ability of the teacher plays a key role in the learner's outcome. They
set the rules for the class and help the learners understand what is expected of them. According to
Duke et al. (2018), students spend most of their quality time in the classroom. Therefore,
exemplary teachers ensure that a conducive classroom environment is maintained for their peace
and comfort. Therefore, teaching calls for patience and passion since multiple challenges may
cause the teachers to feel discouraged. The personality of the teacher determines the respect
accorded to them by their learners. A teacher's effectiveness is determined by the learner's
outcomes in the overall sphere of their lives. Having control over the class is fundamental for an
effective teacher.
Differences
Based on the research, exemplary teachers focus on collaborative learning. Learners are
offered an opportunity to integrate and consolidate their thinking and brainstorm ideas together.
The teacher inculcates the spirit of cooperation to ensure every learner gains maximally from
both the teacher and their peers (Jacques et al., 2016). Most of the case assessments are based on
groupings where different groups are given various tasks to handle. For example, one group may
be expected to make a specific drawing while the other may be expected to make some painting.

During the group sessions, the weak learners are assisted by their peers in the same group to
understand the concepts. In my belief and experience, exemplary teachers offer independent
learning. They impart the learners' knowledge and apply the knowledge later in life experiences
and challenges (Jacques et al., 2017). Different learners possess different capabilities, and
therefore, exemplary teachers meet their needs independently to ensure they maximally exploit
their full potential. They understand the teaching needed for each learner based on their
capabilities. Exemplary teachers are aware and have a deep connection with their learners at a
personal level and therefore understand what can inhibit their performance.
Based on the research conducted, the participants depicted exemplary teachers as
individuals who majorly focus on the learners' academic wellbeing. Their sole purpose is to have
the learners excel in their academics, preparing them for the unpredictable future (Duke et al.,
2018). They believe that the learner's success depends on their academic performance and,
therefore, emphasizes their academic performance. In my belief and experience, exemplary
teachers believe in developing the educational, social, and physical aspects of the learner.
Exemplary teachers have a strategized mechanism to ensure learners' growth in the different
dimensions (Jacques et al., 2016). They, therefore, have a clear understanding of the learner's
needs and incorporate those of learners with special needs. They understand what aspects work
best for the learners' overall growth and development. They have records and well-stored data
that act as a guide in understanding the needs of the learners. Based on the outcomes after
assessments, the teachers can guide each learner effectively and offer the opportunity to express
themselves. Exemplary teachers have a well-stipulated structure to correct behavior to ensure

good behavior to the learners. This results in development and growth in every aspect of their
lives.
Critical reflection
The interpretation for quality teaching was influenced by the age difference of the
participants and their academic backgrounds. There has been a great transition in the mode of
teaching. The traditional teaching model has been replaced by new and current strategies to
ensure the learner's overall development is achieved (Jacques et al., 2016). With the increased
competition in the job market, the overall development of an individual is paramount. The
teaching dynamics aim to exploit the learner's full potential and help them grow in their talents
and abilities to be well equipped to face the future. A large percentage of the learners were above
40 years, resulting in differences in their beliefs and personal experiences. The difference in the
educational backgrounds is a factor that contributed to the differences in the outcomes. The
participants were from different racial backgrounds and financial capabilities. The experiences
were different, and therefore, the disparity might have resulted in alterations in the perception
and beliefs of quality teaching and exemplary teachers' characteristics.
Research in teaching is essential to help the teacher understand the best approach in
administering quality and effective education to the learner. It helps to make a substantial step
towards understanding the learner's needs and the curriculum's relevance in meeting all learners'
needs, including those challenged in various areas. Through research, it is possible to incorporate
new strategies and develop new approaches for effective learning outcomes (Jacques et al.,
2016). Research helps identify any existing gap in teaching that can be incorporated for

exemplary learner's performance. The conducted research will guide my profession and help
build cooperation and teamwork for effective learner outcomes. The responses provided will help
shape my skills as an exemplary teacher.
Application of a large sample size would have helped understand the different groups'
perceptions of the teaching quality. The applied data may not effectively reflect the
characteristics of an effective teacher. However, the research was a learning process since it has
helped in interpreting different players' views. It has helped in understanding the interpretation of
qualitative data. Qualitative and quantitative strategies will act as essential tools in my practice
as a teacher to understand the students' various needs based on the obtained statistics. Action
research will be applied in dealing with the real-life situations that occur in class settings.
