1. A complex subject
While ethics is a complex subject in its own right, religion is no
less complex an area to study. Combining the two creates a
situation where any reasonable scholar runs and hides. The
complexities are piled so high and deep that no reasonable
answers can be developed, let alone sustained in the midst of the
conflicting claims of both fields. However, the importance of the
subject is so great that the attempt must be made. Religious
ethics are a prominent aspect of every culture and to neglect the
interaction leaves people ill equipped to function effectively in a
pluralistic society. So it is in the interests of providing a few tools
to help comprehend the complexities of this normal social
situation that this essay proposes to examine in a very brief way
this extremely difficult combination of issues.

In order to do so, the first problem is to define religion itself.
While religion seems obvious at first glance, it turns out to be very
difficult to pin down to any simple understanding that can then
be brought into association with ethics. Tied to that is the very
frightening problem of religious violence, an issue that by itself
seems to end the ability to examine this issue.
However, when ethics and religion are brought together it is
highly revealing regarding a number of important clashes in
contemporary Western culture. Religion flourishes within
Western culture, even though it is formally secular.
Understanding religious ethics turns out to create significant
illumination around such issues as abortion, environmental
protection, and the value of pluralism itself. That does not mean
there is any social agreement to be found. But in a pluralistic
society one of the hopes is that by understanding the parties,
solutions to the clashes can be negotiated, or if not solutions,
then reasonable compromises.
2. The problem of religion
Religion is a problem, not because of its adherents, but because
of its diversity. Human responses to life that may be called
religious run from the atheist (no gods) to the polytheist (many
gods), and include thousands of variations in between. Finding a
single definition is difficult, let alone a single frame of reference
for that diversity. Regardless a definition needs to be attempted
if there is any hope of determining what the subject is of our
analysis.

INTRODUCTION
Religion is an important aspect that involves collection of cultural systems, beliefs and world views that relate humanity to the aspect of existence. Throughout history, religion has provided people with different answers, thus improving societal cultures and civilization. The study of religion has played a major role both in the past and present. It is also a major force behind human experience. All over the world, religion has offered different lessons to unity, peace, cleansing, conflicts, terrorism, economics, and politics among many others. On the other hand, religious traditions over the years, have laid foundations that promote the principles of human rights, international peace, justice and cohesion. Today, religion has undergone different challenges due evolvement of technology and science. The critics behind this two departments have argued that religion is a thing of the past and that soon it will be out of the way. They have also portrayed religion as a system that does not consider new stages of human existence (Harper, 2010). Though such negative implications have been leveled against religion, many people around the world believe that religion persists any form of nature and is still on the rise. Through the study of religion, people are able to address different global issues and cultural conflicts. Religion is everywhere and improves people’s lives in different faiths that people have such as Christians, Muslims among others. Religious studies are also important because they offer relevance and better understanding to the world we live in.

Many authors believe that religion through its diversity has a room for science and skepticism to improve the changing world. Today, it difficult to watch television, newspaper, listen to radio, or use social media without getting religious context and issues being addressed locally or globally. The discipline of religious studies also promote spiritual, social, physical and moral attributes that are necessary in providing reflection of how people behave. People are also able to understand the ultimate purpose of life and their relationship with God. It also gives people ability to understand there practices, beliefs, and teaching, in order to challenge their spiritual development.
According to many theorists, the basic principles of religion offers expression to humanity purpose and meaning. Therefore, though religion has strengths and weaknesses in the society. INTRODUCTION
Religion is an important aspect that involves collection of cultural systems, beliefs and world views that relate humanity to the aspect of existence. Throughout history, religion has provided people with different answers, thus improving societal cultures and civilization. The study of religion has played a major role both in the past and present. It is also a major force behind human experience. All over the world, religion has offered different lessons to unity, peace, cleansing, conflicts, terrorism, economics, and politics among many others. On the other hand, religious traditions over the years, have laid foundations that promote the principles of human rights, international peace, justice and cohesion. Today, religion has undergone different challenges due evolvement of technology and science. The critics behind this two departments have argued that religion is a thing of the past and that soon it will be out of the way. They have also portrayed religion as a system that does not consider new stages of human existence (Harper, 2010). Comment by Nick Mayrand: Remember that I asked you to only use sources that we covered in class for this paper. I don’t know what this Harper reference is? Though such negative implications have been leveled against religion, many people around the world believe that religion persists any form of nature and is still on the rise. Through the study of religion, people are able to address different global issues and cultural conflicts. Religion is everywhere and improves people’s lives in different faiths that people have such as Christians, Muslims among others. Religious studies are also important because they offer relevance and better understanding to the world we live in.

Many authors believe that religion through its diversity has a room for science and skepticism to improve the changing world. Today, it difficult to watch television, newspaper, listen to radio, or use social media without getting religious context and issues being addressed locally or globally. The discipline of religious studies also promote spiritual, social, physical and moral attributes that are necessary in providing reflection of how people behave. People are also able to understand the ultimate purpose of life and their relationship with God. It also gives people ability to understand there practices, beliefs, and teaching, in order to challenge their spiritual development.
According to many theorists, the basic principles of religion offers expression to humanity purpose and meaning. Therefore, though religion has strengths and weaknesses in the society. In this course, you will develop an original curriculum design. This curriculum will be a minimum of the equivalent of a single unit of instruction, or one week's worth of work in a typical public school. This would encompass, at a minimum, five one-hour sessions of instruction. Your curriculum design may be longer, if you choose. You may select any topic you wish. Students have created a wide variety of projects in the past, including a course on "How to Use a Telescope to Read the Night Sky" to "Introduction to Dental Hygiene." It is entirely up to you! Three samples are available in Start Here for your review. Your professor will also discuss the variety of potential projects in a Collaborate Session, Course Announcements and Discussion.
This project will take place in two parts. Part One offers an overview of the curriculum itself. In Part Two you will design specific instruction including detailed lesson plans and instructional materials. Each part (one and two) should be formatted as a formal paper, be no more than 10-12 pages in length (not including title and reference pages) and is worth 15% of your grade.
Part One of the Curriculum Design Project includes: The curriculum map, developing an outline of the curriculum, including needs assessment, goals, objectives, scope and sequence, and a plan for evaluation. Additional information about this assignment can be found in Resource areas of your online course including the weekly assignment instructions, announcements, and/or discussion posts by your professor.

Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

- 2. 2 Religion 1. Religious literacy development The class has significantly helped me understand the intersection of religion and social, cultural, and political aspects of life. The class has helped me understand the central text, history, beliefs, and practices (Parker, 2020). I used to misunderstand religious studies and theology as the same thing; the class has helped me understand this myth and the difference between the two. In addition, I used to have misconceptions about other religions, which this class has helped me to have a better understanding. This knowledge has significantly helped me understand the influence of religion on various aspects of life. 2. Change of views on religion My religious literacy level has improved, helping me better understand the different religions. My views of Islam have significantly changed. Before this class, I believed Islam was a religion advocating for violence and limited humanity. However, this class has proven me wrong and helped me understand how Islam is founded on peace and caring for others. This knowledge will make much difference as it will help me navigate tricky situations. 3. Reflection The class has helped me learn that all religions aim to foster peace among people, promote humanity, and care for each other. These religions' beliefs aim to promote their members' welfare. Consequently, I will use my knowledge and ability to interact better with members from different religious groups at my workplace and community. Further, I will use my knowledge to help others be informed of the different religious practices and why there is a need to treat each other with tolerance to maintain peace.
