Apple’s SWOT AnalysisPoints of Strength· Globally Recognize.docxarmitageclaire49
Apple’s SWOT Analysis
Points of Strength:
· Globally Recognized Brand: Since its establishment, Apple has built an astounding reputation of being one of the most reliable companies providing technological services and solutions. It has one of the largest customer bases to ever exist, making it the first company ever with a stock price of one trillion dollar.
· Demanded Brand: Apple is a highly demanded brand all over the globe, it is the number one choice in America for smart phones, accessories and corporate office supplies. It has a technology that is suitable for every age and domain.
· Focus on Research & Development: Apple as a company puts a lot of its efforts and money into product design, manufacturing, quality, and marketing. A lot of studies and researches are conducted before product release that are based on customer needs and demands.
· Innovation: Apple changed the way people interact and communicate back in June 2007 when they introduced the IPhone, and that trend continued on when they introduced the IPad in April 2010. Apple shed a new light on the way people use their smartphones and tablets. Nowadays these products are an essential part of work and everyday life.
Points of Weakness:
· High Prices: Apple products are generally considered in the market as a luxurious items due to their premium prices. These products are more oriented towards middle to high income customers than low income.
· Incompatibility: Apple is considered a unique product when it comes to software and cross platforming. Items purchased from Apple whether they are computers, phones, tablets, or accessories will only function on a particular software produced by the company which leaves small space for sharing and cross platform.
· Competitive Market & Penetration: Although Apple has a solid place in market, it does not lower the chances of growth of competitive brands such as Sony, Samsung, Google, and Microsoft. In 2018 a research was conducted stating that while IOS software (Software used by Apple) is dominant nationally, 72.23 of the global market uses Android (Software produced by Google).
· Underwhelming Marketing & Promoting Efforts: Due to its solid reputation in market place, Apple has a bad reputation for promoting or marketing their products. They have poor marketing strategies the barely promotes the products and depend solely on their name to attract customers towards their products.
Opportunities:
· Focus on Services: While the main source of profit is from smartphones and tablets, Apple gets a decent amount of revenue from the services that they offer. Apple gains revenue from selling products like IPhone or IPad to every customer once every year, while they can gain profit from their services on a daily basis. These services include Apple Pay, Apple Care, Apple Music…etc. It is estimated that if Apple can put these services into good use, the company can gain up to 10 million dollar in a quarter of a year.

Module 1 SWOT Analysis
Discoveries: Apple is a pioneer in deals and creation in US Markets; with items that claim crosswise over target markets. iphone 4s deals have overshadowed inner Apple brands, and additionally other cell phone organizations in the U.s. market. Late deals strength, on the other hand, has not settled an industry lead. Samsung, in association with Google's Android Operating framework, possesses the worldwide commercial center with something like 21% of aggregate piece of the pie. Fruit faces both innovative and political difficulties in the biggest cell phone market, China, as it is not able to build an organization with the biggest transporters there because of non-4g/LTE items. SWOT Analysis area gives particular insights in regards to marked item qualities, shortcomings, open doors and dangers.
Conclusion: while Apple rules incomparable in US advertises regarding deals, and is in reality a worldwide power, it has not settled itself generally as the business pioneer. It must expand on brand/item qualities through arrival of more up to date 4g innovation; decrease risk to market dangers and gain by business sector open doors (both in the U.s and internationally) so as to overwhelm contenders, and beat the extending hole made by Google and Samsung's developing Android client base.

Apple Inc. is a well-known company with plenty of positives but it has several areas it needs to improve. Quantitative research generates numerical data, and qualitative research does not generate numerical data. With Apple Inc. being one of the largest technology companies in the world, much of their data is quantitative because of the numerous products and features they offer. When Apple conducts research of any kind, its main ethical goal should be to protect the personal data of its customers.
When Apple Inc. announced its development of the iPhone in January 2007 and then released the product in June. This was a full year and half before the world would see the first android phone. (German, 2011). The management at Apple Inc. decided that in order to control the market they had to win over a small segment of consumers. This segment was considered the early adapters, and would consist of a group of people who would try the new technology first, before the mainstream. This was a great risk, but they ended up helping Apple create a brand new product and market.
Quantitative or Qualitative
To keep up with sales and what products customers like the most, Apple can use the quantitative research to determine which product was sold most. This will help generate numbers based off sales revenue, and which products were chosen the most by consumers. Many people have iPads, iPhones, and Mac Books which are currently the most popular products Apple Inc. offers. Apple has sold over 500 million iPhones throughout the world, making over a billion dollars in revenue.
According to Forbes (2013), “the 600 millionth iPhone will arrive very near the end of Apple’s fiscal year and around what would be the typical launch window” (para. 7). Many times, in order for companies to determine how well a product or service is doing on the market, they will send surveys to people to get a more personal viewpoint of what current users truly feel about their product of services offered. This is done in order to help determine product value, identify which products sell the most, and provide improved customer satisfaction.
The Quantitative approach benefits Apple because it allows for the company to study their market by learning what their consumers like, and what works best for them. The information gathered from consumer behavior, opinions, and attitudes can lead Apple to think of new innovative ways it can create products for its market base. Another benefit of gathering information from consumers is that it can lead to fixing current issues like the iCloud dilemma, and finding ways of improving and making it better more useful for its c.

EXTERNAL ENVIRONMENT SCAN—APPLE 5
External Environment Scan—Apple
An environmental scan is vital for every company as it helps to determine the threats and opportunities that are posed to the company. The following will be included in the environment scan of Apple incorporated: economic factors, political factors, legal factors, societal factors, technological factors, geographic factors and Porter’s five forces.
Key Factors and Trends
The economic environment of the company is determined by factors such as taxation policies, exchange rate, inflation, the economy, living standards, the average income and consumer buying power. Apple’s products main target market are people of medium to high income and standards. In an economic boom, the company’s products are more likely to be bought than during a recession. The rapid growth of developing countries provide an opportunity for Apple to venture into new markets.
Political stability can be a threat to Apple’s products. Poor political stability would mean a reduction in sales and distribution of the products would be hard as trade barriers would be imposed. Various trade policies that could be imposed on a country would have an adverse effect on the company’s sales. However, developing countries create an opportunity for Apple expand its customer base as more free trade policies are put into effect. As Lombardo (2015) states, “Additional free trade policies increase the opportunities for Apple to distribute more of its products to various markets around the world” (section 2).
Social-cultural factors, such as lifestyle, living standards, and demographics important to Apple. Social factors have an effect on consumer behavior and expectations. The increase in mobile phone use and social media is an opportunity for Apple to provide easy-to-use smart phones.
Current technology and technological changes can affect a customer’s priorities changing the demand for Apple products. For example, with the increasing popularity of Cloud computing, Apple can use that to bring in customers and retain their existing customers. Apple has taken advantage of this by making it so that information can be transferred between the different apple devices and between family members. “Everything’s better when shared, and sharing has never been easier” (Apple, 2016, section 3).
Legal factors can also create a threat to Apple. As governments become more aware of privacy issues in relation to digital technology, stricter regulations are imposed on companies like Apple. This poses a threat to Apple as they are now required to develop a product that not only meets consumer demand, but also the privacy regulations imposed by the government. Stricter regulations have been implemented on telecommunications therefore increasing threats to Apple. ...

The History of Apple Inc.
The founders of Apple were Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak. They were introduced in 1971 by a mutual friend who later became one of Apple’s earliest employees Bill Fernandez (Macworld, 2017). Both men shared a passion for technology and worked together on several projects such as “blue boxes” which allowed you to make long distance calls free of charge and the Atari arcade game (Macworld, 2017). The two men quickly recognized what they were capable of if they worked together and decided to go into business and founded Apple Computers Inc., in April 1976.
Apple’s mission statement has changed over the years as they recognize the industry continues to change. Apple’s most recent mission statements is “Apple designs Macs, the best personal computers in the world, along with OS X, iLife, iWork and professional software. Apple leads the digital music revolution with its iPods and iTunes online store. Apple has reinvented the mobile phone with its revolutionary iPhone and App store, and is defining the future of mobile media and computing devices with iPad” (Panmore, 2019).

Apple’s Competitive Advantage
To gain a competitive advantage a business’s product or service must stand out from the rest in that industry (Valacich & Schneider, 2016). Competitive advantage can be achieved by applying one of four generic strategies (cost leadership, differentiation, niche (focus), and stuck in the middle. As stated by Michael Porter (2004), a stuck in the middle strategy is unlikely to achieve a competitive advantage.
Apple incorporates innovation, differentiation, and a focus on customers to attain a competitive edge over its competitors. Apple is consistently upgrading its devices to outperform the competition. The company prides itself on five marketing points which are better hardware, better software, better operating system, better support, and its devices are compatible to similar devices manufactured by other makers (Sahoo, 2012).

Apple’s Innovation and Differentiation Stands Out
Apple is known for producing long-lasting, well-built devices using beautiful materials such as aluminum and glass (Sahoo, 2012). The company includes the latest technology, powerful processors, advanced graphics, and fast memory in all its products (Sahoo, 2012). Apple products are relatively more expensive than other brand names but due to its customer loyalty the company continues to see profits. The organization has also created its devices to store its client’s data in a way they are locked into ...

Enterprise Excellence is Inclusive Excellence.pdfKaiNexus
Enterprise excellence and inclusive excellence are closely linked, and real-world challenges have shown that both are essential to the success of any organization. To achieve enterprise excellence, organizations must focus on improving their operations and processes while creating an inclusive environment that engages everyone. In this interactive session, the facilitator will highlight commonly established business practices and how they limit our ability to engage everyone every day. More importantly, though, participants will likely gain increased awareness of what we can do differently to maximize enterprise excellence through deliberate inclusion.
What is Enterprise Excellence?
Enterprise Excellence is a holistic approach that's aimed at achieving world-class performance across all aspects of the organization.
What might I learn?
A way to engage all in creating Inclusive Excellence. Lessons from the US military and their parallels to the story of Harry Potter. How belt systems and CI teams can destroy inclusive practices. How leadership language invites people to the party. There are three things leaders can do to engage everyone every day: maximizing psychological safety to create environments where folks learn, contribute, and challenge the status quo.
Who might benefit? Anyone and everyone leading folks from the shop floor to top floor.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This report is for the current market of Apple. It looks at the current market, their objective as a
company, and research about the company that is affecting or helping them. I mention how they
relate to their competitor, Samsung in the financial aspect as well as Apple’s financials. It has a
summary of the company and how current my research is. It has an overview of what they are
currently doing as a company. It also includes my conclusion to the report and a recommendation
area where I give my ideas to fix the problems that I state in the report. How they could improve
innovation and prices of products.
3. Page 3
OBJECTIVE
I was hired to improve sales amount Apple makes and also to give my thoughts and ideas
on new products and or ways to improve current ones to keep the market for Apple very good
and continue to earn money. They want to increase their revenue and their standings in the
market. Also want to think of new products.
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Most of my information was external, using the internet to get my sources to complete
this report. All sourced information and credible sites. I gathered all my data and research during
the month of August 2019. I used Google Financials to get my financial data and it was current
on the day it was collected and sourced. The data was collected during August and the data was
for Apple’s end of year report as of September 2018. All the sources are up to date and relevant
to this report.
RESEARCH AND KEY FINDINGS
Apple is the 6th largest company in the world right now. It sells high quality phones,
tablets, watches and a few other products that they have tried to innovate. They have been on the
rise and continue to grow since the company was founded April 1st, 1976. To this day, their
4. Page 4
reason to continue is to make the world easier for everyone. At the end of June 2019, they had a
revenue of $53.809B since the founding of the company (Apple.com, 2019). That’s a 1.02%
increase every year.
The financial position of Apple is always changing. According to Nasdaq, the average
change is 26.87%. Apple being at 105.13% and Nasdaq being at 78.26% shows that Apple is
higher in the current market scale than the average should be. That’s a good thing because they
are doing good right now and continue to earn revenue. Their competitor, Samsung, is closer to
the Nasdaq average which means they are on a normal rate but are still succeeding (Yahoo
finance.com, 2019). This image above shows that information. The Swot analysis is a role that
plays affect in ever company. It determines good and bad things about them. Apple has its good
and bad. They have a high brand reputation and also their ads are very well put together. Always
created and edited greatly. They are also known for being great quality products and innovation
is great. A few weaknesses are that the products are high cost but that doesn’t seem to stop some
people. Also, the past few years, it doesn’t seem like they do any new innovations, all the same
thing just making it better. I think every few years they need to figure out a way to be innovative
5. Page 5
(inevitablesteps.com, 2016). Apple relies heavily on the sales on the iPhone as its their main
product and most sold. Of course, they do get sales from other products. With the recent years of
iPhone sales not being as good as usual, I think they need to be more innovative and create a new
way to market and get revenue. For example, I bought the iPhone XS Max and it was an upgrade
from the 8 Plus I had so that upgrade to full screen was innovative. Now they should try to get
rid of the notch and maybe even a design change, but not to drastic. The iPhone has earned
Apple a revenue of $25.99 Billion (theverge.com, 2019). If their iPhone sales go down, so down
the overall revenue. Recently Apple bought out Intel’s modem to increase service. "But Apple
wouldn’t be buying Intel’s modem scraps. Rather, it would be investing in years of work (and
patents) by one of the largest semiconductor manufacturers as it looks to develop an in-house 5G
chip for future iPhones that can rival Qualcomm’s” (Simon, 2019, pg. 38). They are improving
cellular service by working on the new 5G modems.
CONCLUSIONS
Apple being in the current state it’s in, is doing pretty good with sales and market
position. Even though it heavily replies on the sales from iPhones, it gets revenue from the iPad,
Mac’s, MacBook’s, etc. Apple continues to grow and put out new products. Their current
competitor, Samsung, does the same and that creates a good rivalry between the two giants.
Innovation is something they need to work on in my opinion. They need to meet the markets
wants and needs in order to continue making a profit and being #6 largest. If they can also spread
their market a little bit more, I think that would be great for them. They constantly want to
improve whether it’s products, services, apps, etc., anything they can do to be the best they will
try to do. The continuing problems with innovation I’m sure will be fixed as their technology
become better.

RECOMMENDATIONS
After completing this report and the research needed, Apple needs to find new ways to innovate
and get new ideas. There last few phones have been good but just updated from the previous
years. They need to every few years or so create a new design that’s similar to the old one and or
make new features and update the iOS software to what the people want. I’ve seen some very
good ideas for new iOS software features and there very cool.
Another thing they need to fix is the prices of the new products. The iPhone prices have been
going up every year and this year’s current models are rumored to be over $1,200 for the best
device. That’s a lot of money for a phone to be honest. They should lower the price a little bit,
not to low but just enough where it gets the buyers back and community being able to afford
them.
