Broward County Library overhauled its website between 2004 and 2009, transforming it from a site with mainly external links and no customer communication, to an interactive site with innovative features, electronic communications, and usage statistics. The library gathered feedback through surveys to understand customer needs and preferences. It redesigned the site based on this feedback, adding features customers selected. The library also expanded its electronic communications with customers through an e-newsletter and other tools, increasing customer engagement and developing a positive brand image. With budget cuts, the library promoted a "go green" approach using more online resources and social media to market with fewer print materials and staff.
