Popular Hashtags
Instead of using a year in your hashtag,
use the text to describe the event so that
each year you can use the same hashtag
so users will be able to view lots of great
tweets and photos about a topic or event.
What Hashtags Should I Use?
If the school does not have a Twitter
account, then use a hashtag with the
school name
• #SchoolName (if the school does not
have an active Twitter handle)
Show your school pride:
 #BCPSProud
Showcase your school or department’s
leadership:
 #BCPSLeadership
Share an update of progress of the SMART
Bond at your school:
 #BCPSSMARTfutures
Share a tweet that is related to
governments/cities/legislative affairs:
 #BCPSAdvocates
Share highlights of your school’s sports:
 #BCAASports
Share information about your JROTC
students:
 #BCPSJROTC
What is a Hashtag?
BCPS is always using hashtags to connect
messages on social media. When a
hashtag is used, it can easily be searched
on Twitter to display all tweets from all users
about a specific topic.
Hashtags always begin with a # symbol and
cannot have spaces or punctuation. The #
itself can be short or long such as #read or
#makeadifference. Capitalization of letters
does not matter when searching for
hashtags. The letters in capital or lower
case format will result in the same results.
How to Refer to Broward County
Public Schools in Tweets
• Use @browardschools in your tweet to
share your post and refer to Broward
County Public Schools, instead of using a
hashtag such as #browardschools.
Hashtags on @browardschools are more
specific to events, celebrations and topics.
How to Refer to Superintendent
Robert W. Runcie in Tweets
• If you are posting a photo of the
Superintendent at your school or event,
use the following text in your tweet:
Supt. @RobertWRuncie or
Supt @RobertWRuncie.
