Marginalization
       &
social exclusion
The terms marginalization
   and social exclusion
 describe the sociological
    but proportionally
 traceable phenomena of
        social life
Marginalization means,
   generally speaking,
weakening of the ligatures
between the individual and
       the society
Social exclusion is the
   utmost form of
   marginalization
Being on margin of
various social fields is a
contextual possibility for
    each human being
Therefore only permanent
  marginality produces the
possibility of being outside,
alienation and finally social
           exclusion
The marginalized are
 those who have been
left on the dark edges
     of the stage
The question is always of
individuals being outside
in relation to being inside
in certain social context
Marginalization is a
multidimensional concept. It’s a
 viewpoint on a metaphor coint
     to discribe a group of
      associated problems
       It can point to:
PRODUCTION

    Exclusion from
    school, working
    life, and (or)
    consumer society
REPRODUCTION

      Exclusion
      from the
      society of
      the“normal”
EXERCISE OF POWER

      Exclusion from
      mechanism of
      power and
      influence
The basic dimensions of
marginalization - production,
 reproduction, exercise of
  power - includes in every
      classifications of
marginalization by the way or
           another
The basic dimension of
marginalization are in analogy
 with central dimensions of
  integration, life-control,
      empowerment and
         wellbeing...
...in addition to which
marginalization relates to
lack of resources, mostly
   economic, social and
         cultural
Power and influence
               Civic integration,
               Self-management

The basic dimensions of
  marginalization/ lack of
basic resources link up and
 interact with one another
      in vicious circle
Lack of social or cultural
capital often leads to lack
        of money...
...and poverty imposes
  the hardest problems
on those least capable of
    dealing with them
Marginalization denotes the
 situation in which the life
  chances of the individual
have diminished because of
 changes in social ligatures
         and options
Education as a preventive
intervention of possible marginalization
New educational possibilities for unemployed
         or young people at risk

Willingness for education or (re)habilitation
as a precondition for unemployment benefits
